I really feel like we should be talking about summer. Writing about shorts, and flip-flops, and sunscreen. But instead, the weather in Denver has been breaking my heart. Rain, rain, and more rain (with the occasional sleet and snow thrown in) is our forecast for the next week or so. Ugh.
If you've been feeling my pain, this post is for you. Here are my current favorite Spring jackets, to help you face the weather when really….we just all want Summer.
For anything more than a drizzle, I really like coats from Land's End. I find true raincoats uncomfortable, and so many other choices end up looking so sporty…I like that Land's End steadfastly holds on to a style/comfort meld in the raincoat department. It's almost an old-fashioned position, hearkening back to the time when men would wear galoshes. In any case, it feels fresh again. Any of these coats would be adorable with skinny jeans (or rolled jeans) and rainboots.
Top left is the Kelly Rain Parka, currently on sale for $89.99. It also comes in a bright orange, red and navy. Next is the back view of the Sunshower Swing Raincoat, $99.50. I love the back swing pleat. This coat comes in the same range of colors, plus black. There's no hood, but you could pair it with the crazy-adorable microfiber rain hat. Lastly is the Whirlwind Rain Jacket, currently on sale for $49.99. This jacket looks much cuter on, and comes the standard neutral colors along with a bright coral and bright ocean blue.
I'm loving these windbreaker-parkas. Super lightweight, super stylish, and perfect for drizzly days. The gorgeous blue parka about is TopShop's Pack-a-Parka, $55. It comes in a bunch of colors, can be squished down into a drawstring pouch, and also comes in a short version. Next is American Apparel's Unisex Nylon Rain Parka, $85. I love both the brown and the bright kelly green. Lastly, it's hard to beat the price of Forever 21's Crinkled Utility Jacket, on sale for $16.99.
A Bit of Sun….
On a cool Spring day, there really is nothing better than a simple trench. And you'd be hard pressed to find a better classic trench than the one pictured above (left) by BB Dakota. This trench can be found at ModCloth for $89.99. For a slightly different take on the trench, I'm really loving Gap for Asos's Drawstring Waist Trench, $93. Is anyone else bugged that Gap isn't selling these items stateside? Asos (UK based) does ship internationally, however. Lastly, Target has these cute little Merona Short Trench coats in a variety of bright colors, and they retail for only $34.99. They are an easy and stylish way to warm up your t-shirt and jeans.
There. I feel better. Nothing like a little retail therapy when the skies turn gray. And anything that helps get us out of the house – even in the rain – is a bonus.
