What Moms Wear: Jayme’s Interesting Sweater & Cuffed Boyfriend Jeans

IMG_0651 There's been so much chatter lately about skinnies vs. flares that the poor boyfriend jeans have gotten lost in the shuffle.

But I still love boyfriend jeans.  The biggest advantage to boyfriend jeans is that they show off cute footwear (like Jayme's gorgeous gray Fryes, which we first profiled here) or (my favorites) beautiful ballet flats…AND you can approximate a cute boyfriend jean with an existing pair in your closet.  Try an old pair of bootcut denim (you can chop off the bootcut to make it easier to roll), or the larger pair you bought when you were pregnant.  Comfy & cute.  Totally mom-friendly.  Pair with an interesting sweater or cute spring jacket.  Done.

Jayme's sweater is from the Gap.  Sold out online, but I have seen it in stores.

And gray just might be my new favorite boot color.  I've always given that title to a camel boot for its versatility (pair it with black, brown, navy, nudes, etc)…but gray is feeling really fresh for Spring.

ps.  Gang, I'm running out of my backlog of "What Moms Wear" pics.  If any of you have pics of outfits you are willing to share, send 'em over!!  In fact….if you have a pic of an outfit you'd like some help styling ('cause it's not quite working, or it's not as mom-friendly as you'd like…) send those over too!  We'd love to help!!  aintnomomjeans (at) gmail (dot) com

  1. Please stop referencing these toodiefor grey Fryes. I went on a bender searching high and low for see not to be found in size 6.5 boots. Sadly I had to move on. I settled for a grey Coach Mdaison Carryall. It’s perfect for holding legos for my 4th old, a bottle for my 1yr old and an iPad and other necessities for myself. I really wanted those boots.
I’d love your opinion on Coach. I’m on the fence between thinking its an affordable classic and appropriate for young girls and middle America.

  2. Gretchen – Thanks for the link!! That sweater is spot-on perfect for pooch hiding and nursing! Nice!
Julie – Your comment cracked me up! I know I’ve had success in the past with Zappos “Notify Me When My Size is Available” feature…might be worth a shot.
In regards to Coach….yeah. I’m with you. I have an old Coach bag (bought years ago)…and I do still bust it out from time-to-time…the leather is butter-soft and it’s incredibly well made…but a tad boring. I’m over their logo bags. But as soon as I decide to write them off, I see a gorgeous fringe (poppy leather fringe in blue, to be exact) that brings me back.
But I’m not the bag snob. We’re going to need M to weigh in on this one. 🙂

  3. So not really related but I love her daughter’s adorable outfit-you can tell she has as much of an opinion on fashion as her mama! I’m a sucker for outfits little kids pick themselves. And anything hot pink. 🙂

  4. I just made one last ditch effort of finding these boots using the notify me option.
I would love an honest opinion of the Coach Madison Caryall in fieldstone. It has a center divider which makes it perfect for carrying my necessities, my iPad, legos and a sippy. The fieldstone is a really pretty gray colored glazed leather. It’s not the soft and supple leather that is typical of Coach, but it’s a nice leather. I would love your thoughts if you have time. I looked at the Sophia (love the plated Sophia) but its sort of awkward when using the strap. Having two kids, I don’t have e luxury of carrying it in my hand or in the crook of my arm. It’s shoulder or nothing.

  5. Thank you Shana. I think I need to move in and start carrying it. Its in a bag in my closet right now. I think I’m used to Hobos. I have a yellow glazed Tano that vie been carrying for three spring and summers now. With all the sexy rock inspired Botkiers and such, i wonder if I’m just being boring old mom. Thanks again!

  6. I think the new bag of choice over Coach is the Buddha bag. I saw a to die for one at Nordstrom last week in navy. There was another girl getting it. I almost arm wrestled her for it. The price point is sick! $100.00 I about died!

  7. Gretchen, thanks for the recommendation on the sweater. It wasn’t in my store, but I loved it so much I ordered it online!

  8. I sent a pic for what moms wear about a week ago, with leggings and a long cardi as a dress, and never got a response. Oh well, I thought I looked half-way cute.
