What’cha Doing This Weekend?

DSC_3092

Mamas!  I can't thank you guys enough for the video love.  It's funny, but I almost didn't post it.  I don't know…it just felt so unprofessional.  HA!  Talk about the understatement of the year.  But it was definitely real, so thank you for the support.  We'll try to do more of those.  Also, thanks to One Little Mama and Merci Blah Blah for playing in the link up.  Loved reading your posts!

It's been a loooong week.  I don't have many links, just one really big favor.  But first!  The links:

I don't know how tiny SJP does it, but check out how she rocks her rolled jeans, socks and ankle boots.  Crazy that this works!!  Amazing.  I want to try it.

I am ashamed to admit it, but I totally bought a faux-fur jacket after seeing all of the NYFW gals rocking theirs.  It's on sale for $38.  And is awesome

I forgot to link to my fav mascara yesterday.  It's by Tarte.  It's not the best mascara I've ever, ever tried…but it's comparable and all-natural, so a win in my book.

We were in DC last weekend and had a crazy week, so this weekend we're planning on just hanging out.  Mike and I have a date night scheduled, but no actual plans.  Can't wait to just wander around Philly without, ohIdon'tknow, jumping off of everything, hunting for snakes ("nake!") or stopping to look at every. piece. of. gum. on the sidewalk.  And wearing our smitten, of course.  (Yup.  That was his Valentine's Day present.  Payback for all those years of, "I don't believe in Valentine's day" bullsh*t.)

Now.  The FAVOR:  We're thinking about doing a little redesign of the site.  I'd love to know your thoughts on both the design and content.  Feel free to leave a comment, of course.  BUT…to make thing easier, I created a survey.  It is ten questions.  TEN.  Only TEN.  It should take you less time than my tired morning make-up routine.  I promise.  And I would really, really, REALLY appreciate it.

Happy Weekend!!

I filled out the survey! My only other comment is that I would love to see a wider variety of body types on the site. You are beautiful, the mamas the you feature are beautiful, and I appreciate the honest talk about post-partum bodies. But… I’m between a size 10 – 14, and I would love to see some curvier/rounder/larger/taller beautiful Mamas rocking some outfits as well.
My other feedback is that I LOVE the site. It’s changed the way I view my closet and has encouraged me to take fashion risks.

Love the site, did the survey. Only ‘neg’ feedback is 2/3 of page is not the current post? Can’t links & ads go somewhere else?
    Otherwise, rock on.
    Cheers

I took the survey. :) I actually have style now, thanks to you. I learned to run to improve my body, and I read ANMJ to get a better closet.

Survey done! And I am with heather. I am 5’10 and a size 14, and a lot of these styles dont always work with my frame. That said, I still LOVE your site and manage to translate a lot of the general looks and trends to suit me. I LOVE the shoe advice and “how to wear” certain items.
But can you please help me find an awesome long’ish khaki utility vest like the one you posted ages ago. Wait – please tell me its not already “uncool”, is it?

Did the survey! My husband and I are both designers! And he does a ton of web work! Feel free to hit me up with questions! I may not have ankle boot styling down pat, but I can work some mean typography. ;)
That being said, I don’t think the design is far off… But maybe some typographic and masthead changes will go a long way to speaking more to the sophisticated ladies you are! There is also a trend now for web design called responsive design. Basically, building sites to provide an optimal viewing experience. Basically easy reading and navigation with less resizing, panning, and scrolling from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones.

Love the site. Did the survey. Megs is spot on – responsive design. I think I’ve hit ANMJ from a laptop…once? And a BIG ditto to the Mamas hoping for more diversity. I, too, try to translate your style advice to a 5′ 7/29 frame but I don’t think I always hit the mark. I would love to see more Mamas that look like me. But that’s nitpicking. You rock!!

I with the bigger ladies…I’m not huge, but I’m not short or super thin and there is no such thing as rolling my jeans–they are already super short!!
Really, the only thing I’d change is the proportion of the screen devoted to categories and ads–increase the width of the posts and decrease sidebars or even put the content in the center rather than to the side would visually appeal to me more.

Megs – I’m going to take you up on your offer. Would you shoot me an email at: aintnomomjeans (at) gmail (dot) com?
I’ve been hashing through some designs, but MAN. I would love another opinion.

Took the survey! I love this site. I found it after having my second kid and I have received more compliments on my clothes than I ever did before reading your posts. I’m much more willing to try new trends now too.
If you need someone with a different body to test trends for you just let me know.(5’8″ tall and a size 10/12) ;)

I mostly shop second hand and get a lot of inspiration from ANMJ. Shana – I’d love to see more budget friendly options for more trendy things that might not get such a high cost-per-wear ratio as some more classic pieces (boots, jackets, etc.). For instance, you recently had some really cute $195 sandals shown and I found a similar sandal (but wedge) for $70 (still high, but not as much) would be these (I’m saving up for them!):

Great site! Here’s what I’d love to see: how do you manage your lives? Seriously. You both seem so *together*, because in addition to style you seem to have clean & tidy homes, cook great meals, have time to pursue your own interests, have activities for yourself and the kiddos….etc. Do you have someone to cook and clean for you? Please say yes! Because I’m good at only half those things. I cringe at this becoming a housekeeping website, but if you can point me in the general direction of where to go to learn how to get it together I would be ever so grateful.
Also, how do you manage your outfits? I keep meaning to take pictures of my favorites and make some kind of easy reference so I’m not reinventing the wheel every morning.
    Thanks!
