Shopping: Soft Moto Jackets

As promised Mamas, here are my nine current favs.  Most are washable, most are under $100.

Moto

1. Zara Combination Cardigan, $89

This one is like those seriously cool, butter-soft, insanely expensive leather jackets…but it's neither leather nor insanely expensive.   Would look especially gorgeous with a soft, drapy scarf.

2. Knot Sisters Mesa Moto Jacket, $134 at Shopbop

Love this military/moto hybrid.  Also comes in black.

3.  Gap 1969 Denim Moto Jacket, $89

We've talked about this one before.  Yup, still love it.  Want to immediately pair it with jeans, for the coolest-ever take on double denim.

4. Forever 21 No-Fuss Knit Moto Jacket, $24

Just to be clear:  this is a sweatshirt.  Disguised as a moto jacket.  For under $25.  (Also comes in black.)

5. LOFT Cotton Boucle Moto Sweater Jacket, $89

A moto jacket perfect for the ladylike set.  Would be a surprisingly chic choice over a pair of black track pants, too.

6. Rhyme Los Angeles Nico Military Jacket, $89

Another military-inspired moto jacket.  This one is a lighter-weight fabric, and the subtle sheen reminds me of – wait. Could it be?  It reminds me of a bomber jacket.   So…this is a military parka / moto jacket / bomber.  Yet somehow it all works.

7. Sweaterknit Moto Zip Up, $128 at Anthropologie

This wins the prize for coziest moto jacket ever.  Even better?  One of the reviews noted, "…looks great even after many washes".  YESSSSSS.

8. Free People Fringe Moto Knit Jacket, $168

Boho moto.  Love it.  (And hand washable, too!)  Am dying to put this one over a maxi dress or some flowy tops.

9.  Stella Moto Jacket, $89 at Need Supply

Love the trim detail – you gotta check it out from the back, and the close-up pic of the jacket zipped.  So cool.

Happy shopping!

S

UGH. You just talked me into two jackets I didn’t need. That said: several months ago I instagrammed a photo of my 4yo in a great GapKids grey sweatshirt moto with the caption “Where’s mine?” You found it for me. Thanks!

Love the little styling tips you added to each jacket. My cream moto sweater is a piece I grab ALL. THE. TIME. so love the fresh ideas. (Oh and the other post – with a BUTTON DOWN? Love! Cannot wait to try that one out!)

Shana – I’ve been a lurker for over 2 years now… but boy doo I love how all these look! Question is – can you wear a moto jacket when you have ginormous hips that explode from a semi-normal waist?
I feel like this silhouette would emphasize them even more… someone tell me I’m wrong!

I am loving the moto jacket this fall, too. Really wanting one in leather…may be I will rethink that because these materials soften up the look so much.

I bought the jacket from Forever 21 (it’s been a long time since I shopped there) and really love it. It’s very comfortable and is a step-up style-wise from a sweatshirt or cardigan.
