Shopping: Interesting Cardigans For Nursing Mamas

OH THE SALES.  Already!  I know everyone is getting all geared up for the festivities next week, but I had to share.  I found some seriously great….CARDIGANS.

Sounds boring, I know.  After so many years of nursing, I was tempted to burn mine.  But these?  Are pretty special.   So here's a little cardigan round-up for nursing mamas, or for those of you without a cardigan chip on your shoulder.

1.  Emmaline Cashmere Cardigan, $258

I love the ribbed detailing on the sleeves, and the fit is completely swingy and pooch-hiding.  I also love how this puce green could almost be ugly, but is actually fabulous.  This sweater comes in other colors too, and all are pretty spot-on gorgeous.  Expensive, but I'm waiting to see if this baby goes on sale after the holiday.

2. Garnet Hill Trees Cardigan, $88

I love the wallpaper-like print.  This cardi is dying to be paired with destroyed denim and this graphic tee. (Or a nursing tank.  You know.)

3. Whistler While You Work Cardigan, $75 at Modcloth

Seriously cozy. Forget robes – I'd rather curl up with this on Christmas morning.  Gah!  It's almost gone!  I also love this one – such a french-girl vibe.  Both would be amazing for nursing mamas.

4. Mango Oversized Houndstooth Cardigan, $89

I can't get enough of the menswear vibe.  Nothing boring about this one, and would hide a pooch, too.

5. Proenza Schuler Waffle Cardigan, on sale for $150 at Barney's (warehouse)

You have to see this one close up to really appreciate it.  The sleeves are gorgeous, and it has that easy boyfriend-cardi vibe.

6. Oxford Trunk Carrie Cardigan, $28

Cheap and cute.  Perfect.

7. Velvet Faux-Leather Cardigan, on sale $118 (plus additional 20% off) at Shopbop

I love faux-leather, but it can be rather uncomfortable.  This genius piece keeps the sleeves a sweater-knit, so it's both cozy and badass.  (And swingy over a pooch.)

8. BCBG Faux Fur Collar, on sale for $104

I WANT THIS.  So comfy yet so glam.  Love.

9. Alternative Buffalo Check Cardigan, $98 at Bloomingdales

Yes.  Yes, please.

And if you were looking for something for New Year's….Boden is having a sale.  I kinda like this one….

It's Boden's Cocktail Cardigan, on sale for $74…or maybe even Boden's swing knit jacket.  I'm always a fan of those sweater/jacket hybrids.

Last weekend before Christmas, Mamas!  Are you ready?

  1. While I was nursing, I had a sweater from Barney’s that was shaped very similarly to the velvet and faux leather cardigan you show, except that it had snap closures that allowed for a great drape over the front. It cost way more than I would normally spend on a sweater (esp during the postpartum period), but I think I wore it about 5 days per week. Best nursing purchase ever! Even better than a good bra or nursing pillow. Unfortunately I accidentally shrunk it when my son was about 16 months. Now as I’m trying for #2, I’ll look into these suggestions. A functional, stylish cardigan is a nursing essential! Thanks for this!
