Gang, I am so thrilled to be announcing a collaboration with Tuxe Bodywear!  I’ve been a longtime fan of the brand, so when Tamar (the founder and CEO) reached out about a potential collaboration, I knew exactly what I wanted to work on:

The Coach – a silk button-down bodysuit – has been one of my most-worn pieces for years.  Not only did I want Tamar to bring it back, but I wanted to tweak it a little.  The collar is (and has been) perfection.  (If you ever see me wearing a white collared shirt under anything, it’s this one.)  The sleeves stayed nice and long (thank you, Tamar), but a sleek hidden placket was added, and the top button replaced with a pretty pearl one.  I also requested that this bodysuit be offered in both full bottoms and thong.

The result?  Effortlessly chic, and sneaky-sexy.  The kind of top that looks equally amazing with office trousers as it does with distressed denim or a pretty little skirt.

In addition to offering The Coach in cream silk, we wanted to do something a little bit unexpected……

work-to-playdate

It turns out that blue-and-black stripes give The Coach a rocker-ish vibe (that is nicely offset by the demure pearl button), and the bright blue stands up equally well to my trademark bright lipstick or dark, smokey eyes.

Words cannot express how excited I am about this collaboration.  Especially since I’ve had so much hands-on experience with the product itself.  This is the one top that has inspired more than a few friends (and readers!!) to reach out, raving about how much they love it.  I couldn’t be happier with how the new Coach came together, and learning about the entire process – from conception to production – has been fascinating.

But I want to know what YOU think!  Feedback on the pieces?  Anything else you’d like to see someday?

xo,

S

  1. Kristine Cooper on

LOVE the stripes! And the pearl button, (although I usually prefer to see buttons on shirts, rather than a hidden placket.) Does a collaboration mean you helped design?

  2. I love the stripes! My big hope is that The Boss in tall will come back again. I would be a Tuxe regular if all their products were made in tall sizes. Long torso woman here.

    • Technically….no. But at one point I did put one of mine through the washing machine. In a mesh delicates bag, cold water only, etc. etc. Then I hung it dry. It’s….fine. The silk ends up looking a little more wrinkled, though – almost like washed silk (which makes sense I guess), but if you want that supersmooth look, then dry clean.

  3. I don’t know about this one Shana. It’s beautiful but I’m a stay at home mom so white+silk+kids=Angry Mommy.

Plus, the laundry aspect just doesn’t make sense for me. I can get a few wears out of my silk before washing, but with attached underwear it’s definitely only one wear per wash.

I guess I’m just too messy and lazy for this look.

  4. I would super love to see options for similar bodysuits at different price points…I can’t swing the Tuxe price, but am constantly looking for some kind of button-down body suit to wear to work. Help?

  5. Looks beautiful and I am in desperate need of some new button-downs. BUT your comment about the sleeves being long is a red flag for me. Sleeves are often way too long on shirts – I have a short torso and short arms, I guess! Do they have petite sizes? I hope so!

  6. I see now no petites. That means a no-go for me. Too bad! I’m asking for petite sizing through you, Shana!

  7. I love the idea of these, especially for work. So lovely and elegant. BUT I’m not sure about the dry clean only aspect combined with the undies. I suppose you could wear a regular pair of underwear underneath, but then…two pairs of underwear sounds not awesome. Or hand wash. Or just hand wash the underwear part? Hmmm…

    • Annie, I’m with ya. I have done both – mostly I just layer mine over a pair of hanky pankies – it’s totally comfortable. But a few times I did just wear it with nothing and then handwash the underwear part under a faucet. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be.

  8. I think a mom edit discount code is in order since we know the collaborator and all! I’m hoping to get the ivory one, but it’s a little (okay, way) on the splurge side for me! Yes, yes, price per wear….but since it’s dry clean only, this would go in my only wear on occasional bucket.

  9. Loving the stripe (I am trying to branch out from my white shirt love but it is just so hard!!), just curious what size you are wearing??

  10. I love the white one the best! But can we talk about how AMAZING your hair looks!!! It’s on point and I’m loving it!

  11. Congrats on the collab!! How fun! This may be a silly question but I’ve always wondered what the advantage is of a bodysuit over a regular shirt. Is it just not having to worry about tucking it in or any bunching once it is tucked? Thanks for indulging me. 🙂

  12. size you are wearing?? I am pettie but wear a DD bra, do you think the small or x small would be the right size?
