Katie’s Post-Partum Swimsuit is STUNNING

We received an email from reader Katie.  She wrote, “Totally shocked I’m doing this, but here goes nothing….” and then proceeded to blow my mind with the most genius (and sexy!!) post-partum swimsuit ever.

Katie is wearing Gottex’s Monte Carlo High-Neck One-piece and…WOW.  Apparently she’s getting loads of compliments at the pool from both moms and non-moms alike, and frankly, if a mom walked into the pool wearing this and toting a fourth month old….I’d give her a standing ovation then buy her a drink.

Here’s what Katie had to say about this suit:

4 months post-partum (slightly floppy belly and all) and nursing. I’m currently about a size 8 on bottom (usually a 6) and gigantic/32I on top.  I have 3 boys – ages almost 4, barely 2, and 4 months. I needed something that I felt (can I say hot?) hot in, but could still literally wrangle little kids in.  I have a 12 in this suit mostly for room in the top, but even without a real bra structure I feel sufficiently supported.

The reviews say that the material was scratchy and while I can’t say they’re absolutely wrong (the mesh part is a bit scratchy) it isn’t actually bothersome to me a bit.  Best feature you’d never know! There is a set of hook and eyes under the bust so even if a crazy toddler totally unzips the front you won’t be completely spilling out the front.

I took these pics between gymnastics for my oldest and music practice for me – fashion forever!  (Realized far too late that there’s a nursing pad on the floor in the background.)
All kinds of love for your blog and you!

Right backatcha, Katie.  (And I cracked up at her “fashion forever!” statement.  Trust me – trying to get good pics while wrangling children is a struggle we TOTALLY get.  Fashion Forever!!)

Gottex’s Monte Carlo High-Neck One-piece

Katie, thank you so much for being brave enough to send in pics.  It’s such a strange thing, taking photos of yourself and putting them on the internet (trying to explain my job at parties is hysterical)…..and even more so when it’s swimwear.  Moms everywhere (especially new moms) are all HALLELUJAH FOR KATIE right now and giving you virtual high-fives.  You go with your sexy self and nursing pads.  High. Freaking. Five.

Readers!  If you’ve figured out the swimwear game this summer, send in pics and help a mama out!  There’s nothing worse than trying in vain to find a swimsuit….and it feels soooo good to nail it.  (Right, Katie?)  And if you are new here….let me just state:  you can throw rotten tomatoes at me all you want (and Cam – you can also throw them at Cam haha), but if you even breathe shade at our readers who so willingly play along I WILL TAKE YOU DOWN*.

[S stares with crazy eyes]

You GO KATIE! I myself have 3 and I know all too well the struggle of finding a swimsuit. I still have trouble and my youngest is 2! Love the style of the suit you chose, and love your hair!

First, Katie. I wish my belly looked that good 5 yrs after having one baby let alone months after #3!

Second, I found a similar (although not breast feeding friendly, see above) suit from Athleta. It is like my unicorn: one piece, Y straps, not too sexy, not too low cut, not a speedo. It comes in cup sizes and has underwire even. Seriously love it. Highly recommend Athleta suits!

Damn! Katie is rockin that suit, seriously she looks amazing. I haven’t had a baby in 7 years- ain’t nobody nursing round here, but I would have died over that easy zipper when my guys were babes.
I’m struggling to find a good “mommy” suit that I actually feel cute in, might give this one a go!!

This is so great! I love the low cut leg and zip top. I’ve been searching high and low for a low cut leg one-piece in black. Thanks for sharing.

I would love a reader with jiggly thighs to show their swimsuit options. I have such a crazy long torso I can’t wear a one piece (even LONG length isn’t long enough-ugh) I know there are others out there with similar body type. I switched to swim shorts and bikini top years ago, but I feel it’s time to stop hiding my thighs and live a little.

    LOVE this post. Go Katie!

I struggled this year with finding a suitable 1 piece. I ordered a ton before finding one that was right. We lived on the East Coast for 12 years, and recently moved back to the Midwest (#midwestforever!) to be closer to family. I felt like I needed a more conservative suit to wear on family outings around grandparents, potential play dates, etc. I bought this suit, ON SALE, and I love it! Comfortable, stylish, and flattering, even though I have zero chest. Go one size up from your normal pant size if you have a long torso, like me.

Hope this helps any other moms out there! Maybe one day I’ll be as brave as Katie and post a pic! 🙂
