I’m in leggings 99% of the time since I work from home and am wrangling kiddos all the time. I’m pretty picky about fit and comfort since they’re my wardrobe workhorses, so I was excited to check out the legging choices included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – I snapped some dressing room selfies of my favorite leggings…
These leggings. I missed them last year and made sure to snag them early because they are just that good. Even better news? Some sizes are restocked! (Including the medium in black I’m wearing here). Keep stalking these ones, they’re worth it at full price, too. They fit true to size, the waistband doesn’t pinch, and they skim over lumps so much better than the BP moto leggings in the Juniors’ department. They’re also as soft as your favorite broken-in tee. So dreamy.

I was really excited to see that these came in petite sizes, too, so the knees hit at the right place (especially noticeable with the faux leather accents). But I have to say, I didn’t love them – you can see in the pic from behind that the legs are pretty baggy at the knees and ankles. Maybe I could have sized down, but they just felt kinda frumpy. The leather inset was cool though, it’s crackled and not super-shiny, which makes it look a bit more realistic in my opinion. The vertical seam down the leg is slimming, too.
I was surprised how much I liked these leggings in person – online they look very plaid but in person the colors are more muted – perfect olives and grays to go with cozy fall sweaters. Lysse leggings fit really well, they all have a stretchy panel that goes all the way around the waist and compresses things together. In a good way. Wearing with the softest Make & Model tee I found in the lingerie section for try-on purposes – it’s at that same perfectly worn in point as my fave sleep t-shirt, i.e. my dad’s ringer tee from the 70s – except you can save yourself 40 years.
These denim leggings are the same brand as the plaid ones above, and fit just as well. These would layer so well with longer sweaters or jackets, plus they’re snug enough to fit under snow boots or tall leather boots. I loved both the black and dark blue denim choices. The fabric’s thick but not restrictive, and does a good job of smoothing over any bumps. I tried to snap a pic of the support lining that’s in the waist of both of them – it’s like thick black spandex shapewear already built in so it saves you a step!
Better known as “how to get a butt in 10 seconds”. I could do many, many squats, donkey kicks and whatever else gives you a perky backside, orrrr I could pop these on and go watch Netflix. Pass the remote! Seriously though, these are incredible. I don’t know if it’s the pocket placement or some kind of shapewear witchcraft, I’m not asking questions. All I’m saying is these are magic for ladies that need a little boost in the booty area, and they’re Spanx so they do a great job compressing and smoothing everywhere else, too. (While taking for-ev-er to figure out the right angle for a good butt selfie, I found myself wondering how my life choices led me to this point. But if it helps any of you, then worth it!)
Hello, lover! These moto leggings were comfy and soft – not too thin and loving the cool moto detail on the knees. (I liked the fit so much more compared to the BP. Seamed Moto Leggings, which were really thin fabric that showed every bump & lump and were way too long on me. Your mileage may vary though!) The cool faded color is so badass. I needed something a little more exciting to break up my standard leggings routine, these were just the thing. I’m wearing them as I type!
These black velvet leggings fit like a dream and are really warm. I love them for lounging and also fancier events, like holidays or date night when the temperatures start to fall. Incredibly cozy and a great length for petites (27 inch inseam), not baggy at all. I tried them on with the super cuddly Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan and I just wanted to curl up on the dressing room floor. Since I’m in leggings 99% of the time, I really appreciate when tops have pockets so I have somewhere to put my phone. This awesome cardi ticks all the boxes – long enough to cover your bum, cute enough to wear out of the house without looking like you’re wearing a bathrobe, and gorgeously soft. It’s perfect for home, apres ski, running errands, as an extra layer to leave at the office to ward off bone-chilling AC – your cost per wear is basically going to be zero.
These black leggings were in the “work” section at my local Nordstrom and I could see why – they’re thick and fancier-feeling. I tried on a Medium regular because I couldn’t find the petite version in-store so they’re a bit baggy in the legs. The waist has a wide elastic band inset so it’s really forgiving and comfortable. They also come in charcoal gray if you want to change things up.
Sigh, I should not try on gorgeous silk and leather (especially in navy) because I never want to take them off. I fell in instant love with this Joie navy silk cami with pretty black lace trim (check the back online – so nice). Perfectly drapey and modest enough to wear under cute blazers or cardis for work, without for post-work drinks or date night. This navy leather biker jacket was baby soft. Like buttah, I tell you! It was pretty snug across my chest when fully zipped, but that’s often the case. True to size and drop-dead beautiful.
