Under $50 Wrap Dress, 2 Ways (Try it for the holiday!)

I’ve talked about wrap and midi dresses before. The wrap because yes, it’s universally flattering and the midi length because allows this mom of two little ones to wear dresses. When my first was born I completely stopped wearing short dresses or skirts. As a matter of fact, my minis have been hanging in my closet for 4 years and I haven’t touched them. I don’t like to worry when I’m picking up my babies from the floor, or the stuff they throw on the floor. Now, the midi-length that I once thought of as too conservative became my risky thing to escape my joggers and high-waist jeans.

This dress has become my favorite. It has POCKETS! Draped gorgeous pockets. Do I need to say more? Well, there’s more. A high-low hem, side slit, comfy fabric that allows me to move, and a (faux) wrap with a modesty snap that allows me to nurse my baby easily and cover up right after. I can dress it down or up and wear by itself or layer for more warmth. I usually style these dresses very casual but since the holidays are here I went for fancier options. (Spoiler alert: It’s on super sale for a very limited time and comes in tons of prints and colors)

1. Sexy, a little fancy but comfortable

Pendant earrings and a velvet skinny scarf were the two things I chose to dress it up and make it festive. I’ve been obsessed wearing this scarf with everything, with jeans and a tee too. It looks great.

 Wearing

Dress – BCBG faux wrap dress (wearing XS) The pleats at the waist can very easily accommodate a growing belly too. I’ll add all the prints and colors available at the end. On sale now at Bloomingdales, too.

Scarf – Mine is sold out but check this one out (same thing just a little shorter) Comes in navy, gray, red and black velvet. Perfect accessory for the holidays.

Boots – Calvin Klein (old) but try these Steve Madden Thigh High

Bag – Rebecca Minkoff Jumbo Love – I love the size of this bag. Currently on sale and get extra 25%off with code BLACK25.

Earrings – Asos (old) – I love metal statement earrings. Obsessed with these.

2. Cozy and colorful

Ok, I know, I know. It’s the end of fall and it’s getting chilly. Chenille is having a moment now and I can see why. It looks fancy like velvet but cozier. Put it in a rich color and it stands out without putting any effort.

I just wore this dress for Thanksgiving and was perfect. At the end of the day I kicked the boots off and collapsed on the couch (probably slept in it too). So comfy and fancy it definitely is!

About Author

After my oldest was born, I found myself wearing my old tank tops and yoga pants everyday. I had a ton of unworn clothes in the back of my closet and had a little voice in my head saying “why look nice if you’re going to be home nursing a baby around the clock?” Now, after change of mindset, I apply my fashion design studies to my everyday craziness and document the things I try here on The Mom Edit and my own blog The Unbosom.
If you can’t find me in the bathroom hiding from my kids, I’ll be on Facebook or Instagram @theunbosom begging for bedtime!
