Our Guide To Cyber Monday Sales

Ok, the first thing you need to know about Cyber Monday is that it’s not that different from Black Friday.  In fact, if you’re looking to do a little shopping for yourself, check out the Black Friday round-ups we’ve already done.  Each editor published a whole post on their favorites (here’s mine), and you can find the complete list here: 2017 Holiday Sales.  This is where you’ll find our favorites from J.Crew, LOFT, Shopbop, Nordstrom, etc.

But there were some exceptions!  A few retailers who held out until the bitter, bitter end of this shopping craziness (or it’s possible that we missed their Black Friday promos).  The other notable exception is Amazon.  Because they release new deals every day, there are, of course, new finds to talk about.

So. Here are the Cyber Monday additions we think are worth mentioning:

A Few Home Finds At Amazon

If you really want a solid round-up of home goods on sale, check out our Black Friday Home edition, or the more recent Cyber Monday Hits Home that was just published.  This below list, in comparison, just contains a few appliances/cooking tools/random home things that we’ve found so very helpful over the years.

TOP ROW

Nespresso Vertuo Coffee Maker – THIS. OMG THIS THIS THIS THIS.  We just got one of these bad boys for our pad (this exact model, in fact) and it is a total and complete game changer.  The coffee comes out frothy and delicious – without milk. Just black.

Lemon squeezer – We use ours everyday.  Multiple times a day.  I love it so much I’ve considered packing it when we travel, so I don’t have to be without it.

Spatula – I don’t know why this one works so freaking well, but it’s the only spatula we use.  We used to fight over the one we had….so I bought another.

Lunchskins – When the kids were little, I’d carry their snacks in these little sacks instead of plastic baggies.

Ring Doorbell – We LOVE our Ring doorbell.  Mike installed it with the August Smartlock, which means that we can answer the doorbell on our phone (from anywhere), and then, if we choose, we can unlock our door, watch the delivery guy put the package in our house, then re-lock it once he leaves. We once did this from Spain.  (Mike gloated at his own cleverness for weeks after.)

BOTTOM ROW

Wifi Crock Pot  Scotti here!  I love slow cooker meals, but I never used a crock pot while I was still teaching because I’d be away from home for too long.  I’d come home to burnt, dried out meals.  Yum.  This one lets you turn it on, adjust cooking time or temperature, shift to warm or turn it off from anywhere (like work or school) using your phone.  Throw frozen meat or meals in before you leave, turn it on when you want and come home to perfectly cooked dinners.

Spiralizer by Zestkit – The Spiralizer is one of those wacky kitchen gadgets we actually use a ton.  The easiest salad?  Zucchini noodles, cucumber noodles, tossed with a little shredded carrot, kidney beans and Italian dressing.  I stick it in the kids’ lunch.

Viking Roasting Pan – Best roaster ever. Love that I can use it on top of the stove, then stick it into the oven.

Amazon Electronics On My List

Laura here. Everything in our house decided to break…at the same time. Our vacuum cleaner quit vacuuming last weekend and the iPad (ahem, 2nd generation…) has had a cracked screen for months. It’s literally duct taped. Shakes head. ANYWAY, these four things are top of my list to snag during sales. I just needed a lighted mirror and who even knew you could get one with a Bluetooth speaker in it. But now I need that.

Deik 2 in 1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner – I spent the better part of Thanksgiving evening researching which cordless vacuum to buy and this one won out. It is in my budget and gets a ton of great reviews. It’s on major sale at $109.99. I cannot wait to vacuum my whole house without a pesky cord getting in the way or not reaching far enough. It’s my Christmas present to myself and yes, ‘you know you’re old when.’ I’m way too excited for it to arrive this week.

Fire HD8 Kids Edition Tablet – Bye bye to duct taped really old iPad, hello to this with a 2 year worry-free guarantee, kid-proof case and 1 year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. Time to update.

Doss Touch Wireless Bluetooth Portable Speaker – We propped our Echo up in the window all summer long to play tunes in the backyard. I think it’s time we grabbed a well-reviewed portable speaker to carry anywhere. This is super reasonable and small and lasts for 12 hours of playing time.

iHome 7×9″ Lighted Mirror with Bluetooth Speaker – Turns out when you have to switch to glasses instead of contacts, it’s really hard to see to put your makeup on…this will not only help me keep from looking like a clown, but I can drown my aging sorrows with sad emo rock simultaneously.

Anthro – 20% OFF FULL PRICE (And 30% OFF SALE)

My black friday article has picks from Anthro’s sale section….so here are my favorite full-priced styles for the Cyber Monday 20% off….

Colleen Rothschild – 30% OFF EVERYTHING AND TRAVEL SET ONLY $49

Colleen Rothschild’s Black Friday sale was the one I used to stock up on my night-time skin care routine, and that 30% off everything sale is still going strong.  New to the sale?  Her travel kit, which contains a ton of favorites in travel-ready sizes, is now only $49, and a really good way to sample the line.

Modcloth – 30% OFF EVERYTHING

Most people know about Modcloth’s dresses (and their cool, vintage vibe) – and if that is what you’re in the mood for, check out Laura’s recent article.  She rounded up the most beautiful, unexpected holiday dresses from Modcloth (and even found some Mommy & Me options!).

For the rest of us, I love Modcloth for their nerdy graphic tees and sweatshirts….like these:

Net-A-Porter – Up to 50% OFF SELECT ITEMS

Net-a-porter has a ton of amazing stuff, especially for designer hounds, but I’m loving the quirky printed workout leggings.  I haven’t seen patterns like these anywhere.

Shopbop – ADDITIONAL 35% OFF SALE

SuperGoop! – 25% OFF EVERYTHING

Supergoop, makers of my favorite, wear-everyday-sunscreen, is finally offering a discount: 25% your entire purchase.  YASSSS.

Vince – 25% OFF ORDERS OVER $200

Ahhhh…..my favorite cashmere!!!!!!

Art Supplies At Amazon

I always use this sale to stock up on art supplies.  It’s the perfect time of year for creating activity-packs (something to entertain the littles while you’re out at a restaurant/party/Grandparents’ house) and shiny new art supplies go a long way.

Glitter Gel Pens – I bought this last year, and use it when kids are over and we need some quiet drawing time.  The look on their faces when 160 glitter gel pens are brought out is everything.

Prismacolor Oil Pastels – I’m a big believer in using real art supplies, not kid ones, and our set of oil pastels is just about gone. These are firmer than typical pastels, and can be used wet or dry for varying effects.

Prismacolor Double-Ended Art Markers – Raines, my drawing guy, would totally love these. Especially if I explained that they’re “real” and special, and markers that have to be carefully taken out and put back.

Bricks Tape – Take Lego building next level with this compatible tape.  I can’t wait to see what these guys come up with.  Am thinking that a few rolls of this might make a good stocking stuffer, too.

Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Markers – Admittedly, these are dangerous – oil based, not washable, etc.  BUT!  They’re kind of amazing for painting on rocks (or shells, etc).  We used to make our own sets of story stones, and these are perfect.

Calvin Klein Underwear

In honor of the complete randomness of Cyber Monday sales….let’s go from art supplies underwear, shall we?  Nothing super special, just really great deals on stuff we wear all. the. time.

Calvin Klein Modern Cotton Bralette – this comes in a zillion colors and I love wearing it when I don’t feel like wearing a bra.  (Size up, tho.)

Calvin Klein Modern Cotton Bikini – I wear these to bed. Super cute.  Also in a zillion colors.

Calvin Klein Modern Cotton Skinny Strap – perfect for layering under tank tops come summer.

Calvin Klein Boxer Briefs – 20 years later, still Mike’s favs.

30%-50% off Amazon Prime-Exclusive Clothing, Handbags & Shoes

Hey guys, Scotti here.  Amazon is offering 30-50% off select items….and they’re GOOD.  Here are the pieces I’m loving….

Comfy Basics

Top Row:

2-Pack Swing Tees Available in a TON of combinations of colors and patterns, these tees have rave reviews and a super flattering A-line drape.

Puffer Coat: If you live where we do, you can never have too many puffers.  I like the stand-up collar on this one (also in navy).

Ponte Knit Leggings: Also available in black and charcoal grey, ponte leggings are my favorite because they’re thick and opaque (no see-thru!).  They also come in short, regular and long sizes for the perfect length!

Cable Stitch Cardigan: Also in navy and black, this is a cute cardigan to throw on for extra warmth AND it has thumb-holes (and oversized long sleeves).

Bottom Row:

Crewneck 100% Cashmere Sweater: Available in a ton of colors but my go-to is always black!

Moto Leggings: Moisture-wicking and stretchy fabric for the gym orrrrr the couch.  Love the moto detail and high waist – it even comes with a pocket for your phone or some cash.

100% Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater Available in a ton of colors, I love the longer length and slim-fit.  Perfect for layering.  (And it comes with a little tool to remove pilling!)

PJ Set: I live in pjs in the winter.  I love the silly matching ones and these are so fun and festive (available in more patterns).

Fancy Shoes & Bags

Top Row:

Mini Velvet Backpack: Once I started using a backpack, I’ve been obsessed with the hands-free option.  I love this burgundy color but it also comes in a pretty navy or black.

Sequin Sock Boots: I mean . . . these might have to come home to me.  I love all the sparkles . . . also in silver!

Oversized Silver Clutch: Also in black or leopard print, this clutch would be equally perfect with jeans and a t or a little black dress.  Oversized so you can actually fit everything you need in it.

Bottom Row:

Sparkly Pumps I love the texture of these silver pumps – they also come in black glitter.  Reviewers say they’re actually very comfortable because of the platform in front.

Sequin Sneakers: Also in tweed/black and camo/black, but sequins??  Yaaassss.  I love these.

Satin Ankle Strap Flats: Also in black or nude satin and a cool blue plaid, I think these bright shoes add such a fun pop of color.  The ankle strap is a plus for those of us whose heels always seem to slip out of flats!

Men’s Shirts for Work & Play

Top Row:

Cashmere V-Neck Sweater: 100% cashmere and available in a ton of colors, Ryan Gosling from Crazy Stupid Love comes to mind.  (You’re welcome).

Chambray Shirt: Available in sizes S-3XL and also in a lighter blue . . .  I love the casual vibe of this shirt.

Goodthreads Buffalo Plaid Shirt: 100% cotton, machine-washable and super soft . . . not too thick or too thin.

Bottom Row:

Slim Fit Non-Iron Dress Shirt: This shirt is available in a ton of patterns and 44 different size combinations for the perfect fit.

Classic Fit Spread-Collar Sport Shirt: Available in a ton of colors, but I love a black shirt (left slightly unbuttoned) on a guy. 100% cotton and machine-washable.

Cashmere Crewneck Sweater: 100% cashmere. Also in black, navy and blue . . . reviewers raved about the softness of this sweater.

Happy Shopping!

  1. Aaaah! I did NOT need FOUR pairs of crazy workout pants. Yet. They’re on their way here.
Time to walk the talk. Toys have a one in, one out rule. Adios boring leggings!

    • I’m a lover of Nespresso! Nespresso has it’s own app that you can use to buy the pods online. They are around 73 cents per pod, which compared to Starbucks prices isn’t too bad.
