Guess Who’s Pregnant?! Cue The Long Drapey Tops

I’m so excited to share with you guys that we’re expecting baby #2 in September!  The first trimester is almost over (sooooo tired) and I’m no longer able to hide my belly.  I’m also happy to say that we were able to share the news with Dad before he passed . . . I’m so glad I didn’t wait to tell him.

You know what the best part about being pregnant is?  Shopping for baby clothes.  The worst?  Shopping for your own clothes.  (I kid.  Kinda.  I mean, if I’m honest, the worst part of my first pregnancy was kidney stones . . . but I digress.)  There’s this cool boutique called Revisions in Marquette that sells gorgeous jewelry, unique porcelain ceramics and adorable kids’ clothes.  (Like that “Everyone Poops” onesie you can see in the pic below).  It’s like walking into a real-life Etsy site.  It’s hard to leave empty-handed, especially when you have a little one or one on the way.

So baby clothes = easy.  My clothes = harder.  The first trimester, especially, you just kind of feel . . . bigger.  The belly isn’t really pronounced so much but there’s definitely more there.  I’ve been living in long, drapey tops (that skim over the pooch) with leggings and stretchy jeans.  These tops are almost exactly what I wanted to wear after having Greenlea but I don’t (yet) have to worry about whether they’re nursing-friendly.  (Although I’ll be able to nurse in most of them as long as I have a nursing tank underneath).

Wearing:

Oversized Turtleneck Tee: Love the oversized fit to this tee/dress.  I could easily wear it without jeans underneath when the weather gets warmer.  I can also nurse in it later because it’s so billowy and comfy.

Seamless Mini Dress: Comes in a TON of colors, perfect for layering.

Jeans: I’m obsessed with these jeans, and have been wearing them a ton since I got them.  They’re super comfy, despite not being maternity clothes.  They do have a maternity line, though, so I’m excited to try that as I get bigger.  For now I can still wear these because of the stretch . . . and can use the hair-tie trick soon.

Faux Leather Jacket: 30% off right now – available in a ton of colors.

Boots: Available in two widths and with a shorter heel for comfort.

Backpack:  We all love our Julian Backpack.

Sunglasses: similar

  1. Congratulations! I’m also due in September with number two. I’m so glad I’ll be able to see what you’re wearing for inspiration!

Congrats Scotti! What wonderful news. Enjoy your pregnancy and all the beautiful moments that come with it. I miss those baby days!

  2. Congratulations to you and your family, what wonderful news!

My favorite maternity jeans were from Madewell, they were true to size and stayed put at the waist. Also the inseam was the perfect length for my short legs.

  3. Congrats! I’m pregnant with my third (due in 9 weeks) and the only maternity jeans that I have loved with this pregnancy are the 1822 maternity jeans. They are about the only new maternity clothes item I purchased with this pregnancy, and they are awesome. Way better than the more expensive ones I had from my previous pregnancies. They just fit much better and are way more comfortable than other jeans.

    • I was so impressed with their regular jeans so I’m happy to hear that their maternity jeans don’t disappoint! Thank you!

  4. Yes! I guessed it 🙂 I just found out I’m pregnant with my 3rd (due in November) My first two are Shanas boys ages so it will be like starting over. I have followed you guys forever and am so happy that I can keep following you for all of my maternity inspiration!

    • I was wondering if anyone would see the big sister shirt! Is that how you knew?? Congrats on your third! 🙂

      • Yes! And I have been secretly hoping one of you would be soon so I would have more fashion inspiration for the next 9 months! 🙂

  5. Congrats!!!! 2 Sept babies here (OK, one was stubborn and missed Sept by 9 hours). I loved being first tri in the winter because you can hide so easily under tunics & sweaters.

  6. Congrats Scottie- What a blessing!! I’m still rocking the FP Kai Henley well into third trimester with baby #4 and I can’t wait to nurse in it too. By the way – I’ve been loving all the basics from Storq this pregnancy. They make it so easy to get dressed, so comfy, and work for all trimesters. Wish I’d had them with my other pregnancies!!

Congratulations!!! What fabulous news for you and your whole family!!! So nice that you were able to share it with your dad. Enjoy the cooler temps now while you can (I had one baby in August and twins in September. It gets HOT)! Best of luck to you!!!

    • Awwww, congratulations!

Elizabeth Rafter, what’s up?!?! July baby, Sept twins here! THAT’s hoooooooooooooooooooot!

Haha, Maggie! My August baby is 12 and my twins are 11 and I STILL don’t think my body temperature is back to normal! 😂 I imagine you feel my pain!

    • Thank you! Yes, it was special that I got to share it with him. And I’m looking forward to being hot because I’m just freezing all the time now! 🙂

Congratulations!!! May you and baby be healthy. My 3rd child was a September baby. Fall was a great time to have a newborn. Lots of Love to you and your entire family.

    • Thank you – that’s my biggest prayer, healthy baby and mama. I’ll be ready to start hibernating in the fall with the baby! 🙂

Congratulations! What wonderful news! Take a good look at your feet in those boots. They will become harder and harder to see.

  10. So happy for you and your whole family, Scotti! Huge congrats. And what a precious, awesome thing you got to share it with your dad.
    Enjoy!

I just freaked out that you’re in Marquette. I’m in Traverse City, and I always feel, when I read these sites, that it’s impossible/weird to dress chic when 90 percent of your outfits require down or fleece for 9 months a year. You’ve given me hope and inspiration that I can pull off style in TC, even when that style is usually accessorized in spit-up and sneeze juice from my kids.

  12. Cobgratulations!! The Big Sister shirt was my clue 😉 I’m due with my fourth (!) in July and I’m so excited you’ll be sharing style inspiration over the spring and summer 🙂

  13. Congratulations Scottie!! So happy to hear the good news, especially after losing your dad. When God closes a door he opens another. You look beautiful and glowy! Looking forward to seeing your style evolve.

  14. Congratulations!! I’m due early July and so happy to know more maternity/nursing posts are going to be posted. Any suggestions (Scotti or readers) for a good nursing tank? I’m busty and the built in shelf bras seem to cut me at a weird place and are uncomfortable.

Best wishes to you and your growing family!
