Spring, are you there? We had a couple weeks of glorious weather and, as it usually goes here, we have been plunged back into chilly, rainy Winter weather. Such. a. tease. Ah well, we will soon be back to deliciously sweet Spring temps and can live out our days in perfect contentment. For now, I’ll just look at these pictures of me in a skin-baring top and dream of 70 degree temps… all while sitting here in thick socks and a sweater.
I’m sure many of you are with me – over Winter, ready to ditch the coats, layers and plethora of material and SO READY to dawn fresh and light Spring styles. Well, let’s all just do some dreaming, why don’t we? It’s the perfect time to start prepping for warm weather outfits anyways, so let’s get on it.
Starting with a pretty, throw-on top is always a good place to start and I’ve been looking around for some already, actually. I’m sooo on top of it. HA. Right. What usually happens is I stall and wait around on purchasing some and then when I need one…I don’t have it. I guess I’m trying to be more prepared this year.
So. I tend to go for the easy in most things and my Spring tops are not exempt from this. When I’m on Mom Duty, I can’t handle allthethings; meaning, oversized ruffles, bell sleeves, tie sleeves that easily come undone, off-the-shoulder madness, etc etc. Honestly, I cannot be bothered. I need to be able to wear a bra and not continually worry about whether or not my top is keeping itself together. Those fun, *extra* tops all have their place, but its not when I’ve got the three ruffian angels to run around with (or after).
Oh, and cannot forget. This is a big thing. THEY HAVE TO BE MACHINE WASHABLE. Dry clean? Bye. Hand wash? Ha ha…that’s really funny. I need to be able to throw that thing in the wash and then lay it out to dry. Bing, bang, boom.
All of that to say, I found one…
and then I found a few more.
(that last picture is the perfect example of how life is with Connor, BTW)
top: LOFT Split Blouson Sleeve Top (wearing size Small) – a simple, but incredibly pretty top. It’s comfortable, great color and is the perfect length for a little tuck. It comes in grey and black, too. Can’t forget that it’s MACHINE WASHABLE. Very important.
jeans: Levi’s 501 Tapered Jeans (wearing size 28, but could have sized down one) – definitely could have done down to a size 27, because they were a tad baggy…and with wear they got even more loose. They are almost sold-out on Shopbop, but are fully stocked at Nordstrom. I love the casual, relaxed feel to these…and the wash is spot-on for Spring.
shoes: Golden Goose Deluxe Brand Sneakers (superstar distressed, TTS) – my favorite pair of sneakers. I was skeptical, but they really are the perfect shoe to throw on and wear with anything. A couple of readers have commented on their stiffness when first worn…and yes, they do tend to feel a tad bit stiff at first, but I’ve found that they get “broken in” after being worn a handful of times.
bag: Sole Society Top Handle Cross-body (Linen White) – so. HA. This one does, in fact, have a removable strap. I couldn’t find the strap (turns out it was in the middle pocket inside), so that’s why I am holding it by the handle in the pictures. I wanted to share the bag in all it’s pretty white glory, but yeh…wasn’t so realistic for playing at the park. Next time I’ll attach the strip. ha…
earrings: J. Crew Tortoise Wrapped Hoop Earrings (no longer available) – Etsy has a slew of different tortoise hoop earrings – especially ones from Machete. Very cool options…and many of them have been featured in Vogue. Oh, helloooo.
