Target Bikini Round-Up: BOGO 50% on All Swimwear Now

I think we can all agree Target is pretty great, yes? Yes. Sometimes for me it’s a LOVE/HATE relationship though; love the prices & selection / hate that I come for paper plates and always leave with an entirely new living room.

Well, you guys know how seriously we take swimsuit season here at TME.  It’s kinda a big deal. We’re always hunting for the best of the best in swimwear. We do because we love you, also because we each need – NO,  deserve at least one amazing swimsuit to get us through the summer. And if you spend any of your summers at the beach or pool, you know you need WAY more than one swimsuit.  Those top-of-the-line swimsuits can add up quick and for me it’s just not realistic to buy more than one a summer. So save your splurge swim for something a little more special and while we’re just chilling in the backyard by the pool, let’s rock our Target.

Every summer I find myself coming back to AT LEAST one Target swim piece again and again. Even if it’s a last minute vacation need or a impulse shopping trip purchase, Target’s a great option for cute and affordable swimwear. If you want to skip the actual store trip (and save some $ on that impromptu living room makeover) is great, too. But because it can all get a little overwhelming, I wanted to do the search for you guys. So selfless of me right? Ha.

Check out my choices for the very best bikinis Target is offering up right now OH, and they’re all BOGO 50% off. Did I mention I love Target?

Easy, Breezy Summer Blouses

Shana brought up a good point in one of our meetings a few weeks ago. There are a TON of amazing off the shoulder and one shoulder blouses out there for summer but what about those times you need a good, old fashioned, ON the shoulder blouse. Sure, off the shoulder blouses are fabulous, but sometimes it’s not worth it to spend the entire day worrying about. Has anyone else ever passed a mirror at Target only to notice their off the shoulder blouse has been covering half of what it should, leaving the other half of your chest on display for who knows how long? Yeah, me neither…

Sometimes you need a blouse that covers everything, looks just as cute and is just as breezy as any off the shoulder top. Read on to find a whole bunch of options:

New (Surprising) Fav: Paperbag Shorts

Confession: I’m not much of a shorts wearer, like at all. I guess it’s not really a secret because I mention it EVERY Summer when shorts season is no longer avoidable. It’s not that I don’t want to wear shorts…I’m just super self conscious of my legs, and my curvier body type makes it difficult to find truly comfortable shorts that don’t ride up or give my thighs rug-burn. The only shorts I’ve absolutely loved were a pair of old, already worn-in Levis that I cut up myself. Usually in the summer, you’ll find me in a skirt or dress.

I think I’ve found a pair that I’m willing to wear:  they’re high waisted and NOT booty shorts.

Preppy with a Twist: Waist-Tied Tops & Leopard Print Heels

Ahh, Spring. The perfect time (and temp) to switch up your style. Whether you’re going from parkas to sundresses or you’re a lucky one who’s been in shorts all year (cough, cough CAM) you want a little something new. When the TME girls gave me a style challenge, I was determined to take on “preppy” as best I could. Collared shirts, if we’re getting specific here. Damn, these girls are good at dishing out the hard stuff.

As much as I usually don’t like button-up collared shirts, I can’t help but be drawn to unique trends. Since I’ve been eyeing all the great new wrap-around style button up blouses I figured this was as good a time as any to try one.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE preppy style, I just feel like I can never quite pull it off.  Mainly, I don’t like feeling constricted. As a child, I refused to stay dressed because I couldn’t stand how suffocating clothes made me feel. Obviously, I made it through the ‘no clothes’ phase but restrictive clothing isn’t necessarily conducive to my lifestyle. I’m constantly moving while working; I spread out on the floor when painting and drawing and stand and pace when writing.

The top I was planning on ordering was sold out in my size so I headed to the mall where I found a similar style at New York and Company. I paired it with my Rocket Citizens and (in true preppy fashion) my low-slung pointed toe leopard heels.

Of course, in the store, the top was professionally tied in a lovely bow that I had to dismantle in order to put the shirt on.  I was never able to re-create their perfect wrap and knot but the long ties allowed me to get creative with styling and wrapping in different ways. I liked having it tied a little looser to give me some room to breathe and so my ta-ta’s weren’t too squished. My biggest concern of course was that it was going to be too constricting but the material was quite comfortable and had a nice bit of stretch for moving.  Plus, I couldn’t believe how many compliments I received while wearing it.

Mission: Successful.

Orange Crush: 2017 Spring Color Trend

Citrus fruits, traffic cones, pumpkin patches, Donald Trump’s skin tone –  just a few of the things that come to mind when I think about orange. “Fashion’s IT Color” or “Season’s Hottest Trend,” on the other hand are phrases I’m pretty sure no one has used since the ’70s in reference to orange, well until now.

Yup, orange is back and baby.. it’s come a long way since Woodstock.

Varying hues of orange dominated the runway during NYFW this year. From electric neon oranges to soft creamsicle pastels, from fiery sunset pallet of red oranges to warm cinnamon earth tone neutrals, and every shade of orange in between. Orange has never looked so appealing and wearable.

Still not sold?

I feel ya. I was the biggest orange non-believer of them all until a chance encounter with a rust cami in an Anthro fitting room turned my least favorite color into a complete wardrobe staple.

On the Hunt for Light Wash Denim

This month’s light wash denim challenge was a struggle for me but not for the reasons you might think…

You know that saying: you don’t miss it until it’s gone? It definitely applies when you break all the important bones of your dominant arm in a car accident. Besides the shock and pain, it’s the little things (which turns out to be pretty much everything) you miss the most like: texting, tying shoe laces, putting a bra on, washing your hair, getting pants on without asking help.  And you can forget about wearing jeans with  “button up flys,” Turns out they were made by the devil himself specifically to taunt us one-handers.

So naturally, my jeans have a button up fly.

My Tried and True Winter Coat and Boots

Although nothing like Winter in the U.P. where Scotti lives, usually by January in West Michigan you can expect freezing temperatures and a solid layer of snow that won’t melt until Spring. But this past week it was so unseasonably warm almost all of the snow melted.

Not that I’m complaining, but it gets hot fast when you have all of your warmest gear on and it’s 60 degrees outside.

With the exception of our random weekend of warm weather…this marks my third Michigan winter and I think I’m finally figuring out how to dress for serious cold and snow. As long as you have a very warm coat and snow-proof boots, it’s really not so bad. I swear.  Read on for my go-to winter weather picks.

AllSaints All Day Long: How I Style Mine

I just had a feeling you guys would like AllSaints just as much as I do. They do timeless wardrobe essentials with a modern twist. Plus, the quality and tailoring of their clothing is so SO good. I fell in love with the brand when they opened their first store in Chicago. At the time, I was still in college and had a difficult time parting with $10, so, the thought of purchasing something from them, even from the sales rack was laughable. Instead I walked around the store touching everything and whispering “someday my pretty, someday.”

Bummed you missed the sale? Never fret! Their sale is STILL going on. Select items are up to 50% off plus an additional 20% off of sale items at checkout using the code January.
