Go Buy Now! Splendid Littles for Target
By

My heart skipped a beat today on a Target excursion for toilet bowl cleaner and graham crackers. I’m a long time fan of the Splendid brand for kids (we have a striped long sleeve waffle tee I’ve forced both boys to wear until it reached crop top proportions, for example), but I only buy Splendid on deep discount because spending $50-$80 on single items of clothing for my rapidly growing kids makes me want to either a.) vomit or b.) have another boy to make my outrageous clothing purchases more cost effective.

Back to School: Best Toddler Backpacks
By

If my mom had said this to me ten years ago, or, I’m embarrassed to admit, maybe even 5, I totally would have rolled my eyes. But life since having children has flown by at an alarmingly fast (and heart wrenching) clip. . . nd now I have purchased (gasp!) a backpack (!). For my little son who is quickly growing into a big boy and is going off to his first day (sob) of early learner school next Tuesday. . . Given the significance I have attached to said knapsack, naturally I wanted it to be the best, so I trolled the Internets for the best of the best. Here are my picks for the back-to-school season’s top-five preschooler backpacks.

Go Buy Now: Patagonia Baby Down Sweaters
By

If this is your first winter with a toddler, you will undoubtedly scoff not only at the timing of this post, but at the cost of the item I am recommending that you purchase now, in the heat of July, or in the next 6-8 weeks, before they sell out. The Patagonia Baby Down Sweater ($80) is hands-down the single best winter jacket for kids. Period. It is warm, well-made, light, durable, uber-washable, and. . . drum roll, please. . . your child will actually wear it. Without protest.

In-Line Double Stroller Review: Baby Jogger City Select vs. Phil&Teds Vibe
By

Since reluctantly giving up my Micralite Toro early last year for a Phil&Teds Vibe ($809 with extra seat) in anticipation of our Little Lou, I’ve acquired three additional strollers to meet my various strolling needs. These include an umbrella stroller, a higher-end umbrella stroller with recline and a Maclaren Twin Techno.
The question is, though, why, after paying an arm and a leg for a Phil&Teds Vibe + doubles kit, the in-line stroller that’s touted as an all-around solution, did I purchase three other strollers where previously just one Micralite Toro did the job? A good question indeed. One my dear husband has oft asked, until he too fell for my latest and greatest stroller acquisition, the new Baby Jogger City Select ($660 with extra seat). AKA the best stroller of all time, the answer to all but high speed strolling needs.

Found! Toddler Proof Cell Phone Cases (for iPhones, Blackberries and Others)
By

Raines and I visited my parents in Gulf Shores last month. The first day we spent on the beach, I made sure my cell phone was safely zippered into an inside pocket of my bag. Upon unpacking that night, I opened up the zippered pocket to find that *someone* had carefully unzipped the pocket, filled it with sand, and then zipped it back up.
I can’t imagine who.
