Hey ladies – I made a naptime escape for my local Nordstrom today to try on some athleisure picks and workwear options from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! What did I find? Lots of killer comfy leggings, cool jackets (including this amazing Zella moto puffer!), cashmere sweaters and leather jackets to swap out for blazers this fall. Check out my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale favorites below and let me know what you guys think!

Zella Double Breasted Quilted Jacket (M) – Ok, how come this “workout jacket” is cooler than 99% of the regular jackets I own? It’s super comfy because of the stretchy panels under the arms & down the sides, and WARM! The front & back quilted material does not stretch, however, so it was a little tight in my regular size. Also, thumb holes. Big, big yes to this jacket.

Alo High Rise Capris – I’ve never tried the Alo brand before and was pleasantly surprised! The fabric was thick and high quality and I love the ombre & retro-sporty leg stripes. Unfortunately there are limited sizes online, but these are similar!

Underneath, I’m wearing the Zella Cascade Cap Sleeve Tee, super comfy and flattering side seams. It comes in some pretty colors, but I’m branching out of my comfort zone by choosing gray.

Zella ‘Cut It Out’ High-Waist Leggings – All the hype about Zella leggings – it’s true. These were so comfy I was a little heartbroken when it was time to take them off. Loving the semi-risque fishnet mesh sheer cutouts on the side and back of the legs. So cool.

Wrap Hoodie – Surprisingly flattering and comfortable! Perfect to throw over leggings & a longer drapey tee or workout stuff. Also, thumb holes.

fleece jacket, leggings

North Face ‘Indi’ Fleece Jacket – Another piece I wanted to live in. Forever. The little details make it special (check the cool arm ribbing & adjustable cinch waist), the cozy superwarm fleece makes it indispensable. I’d wear this an unhealthy amount during the fall to winter transition, then layer under a thin down jacket when it’s winter for serious.

down jacket

North Face Thermoball Primaloft Hooded Parka – It’s hard to find a flattering down jacket, but the lightweight Thermoball style and angled pattern plus cinch-able waist make this one a winner. North Face tends to run small on me, but this was true to size. Light enough for fall but perfect for winter when you layer. Also in colors if that’s your thing.

wrap shirt, capri leggings

Zella ‘Layer Me’ Pullover – I’ve been curious about this style but wasn’t sure the cross front would be flattering since it hits exactly at a spot I’m not excited about highlighting, but surprisingly, it works! This is a medium, my normal size, but it definitely felt big in the shoulders. It’s more like a ballet leotard on top. The solid colors are selling out but the very cute striped ones are still available in lots of sizes. Also, thumb holes. (Are you sensing a pattern?)

Nordstrom Sale Work Wear Picks

sweater, leggings

Nordstrom Zip Back Crewneck Cashmere Sweater – Love love love this sweater for business casual or just casual work environments. Incredibly warm even though it’s a bit sheer, and long enough to cover the bum in leggings, even when I sized down (grabbed a Small by accident!) The shape is a little swingy but not at all boxy.

Seamed Back Leggings – Thick ponte leggings, but size DOWN in regular sizes (I didn’t see the petites in my store).

Joie ‘Berit’ Open Front Wool Blend Cardigan – Picture this one someone tall. Like Cam. I didn’t read the fit notes online, which recommended sizing down (this is a Medium). Slightly itchy so you’ll want a comfy longer sleeve underneath.

Victoriana Lace Detail Tank – Very comfy, pretty sheer and flattering for any tummy bulges. Also in black. Similar in rose print and longer asymmetrical version. Wear alone now (definitely with a cami for work!) and under a moto jacket in the fall.

silk peasant shirt

Joie ‘Suzetta’ Split Neck Print Silk Blouse – Love Joie’s silk peasant blouses – this one has a pretty neutral pattern that reminds me of feathers. Similar in subtle leopard print, also silk and stretchy! Great for layering under cashmere, blazers or leather jackets.

Ruffle Hem Sweater – Really soft and thin, slightly clingy in front but the high-low ruffle hem makes it special. No shortage of wine tunic  sweater options in the sale!

leather jacket, peplum

Halogen Collarless Leather Jacket – Really soft and under $200 for real leather! I like the collarless style for larger busts or top-heavy figures, sometimes the moto-style lapels can be overwhelming if they’re too big. This fits true to size (wearing a medium). Love the idea of swapping blazers for cropped leather jackets this fall – here are a few more similar options.

Diane Von Furstenburg Silk Peplum Tank – Love the higher neck for work, can do double-duty now for girls night or dates. The bright pop of coral was so fun even if it’s wayyy outside my black-gray-navy safe zone! (Also in navy, at an even bigger discount).

teddy-bear-coatfaux fur jacket

Faux Fur Jacket – I couldn’t help myself! Shana & Scotti looked so adorable when they showed up to Shana’s surprise party last winter in fuzzy faux fur coats, and this one has a fun leopard lining. I like the thinner lapels for larger chests or petites since it doesn’t overwhelm when combined with the furry texture. Did not want to leave this one behind! I only saw tan in store, but it’s available in black as well online!

Hugo Boss ‘Deshina’ Short Sleeve Wool Sheath Dress – Mike raved about Hugo Boss suits for men so I grabbed this dress from the sale rack. It’s a size too big and not petite, but I could tell the tailoring was on point and the wool fabric was super luxe. I think it’d be a good fabric for all seasons, it wasn’t too heavy like wool can sometimes be. Limited sizes available online in gray; also in lots of sizes in black (but not on sale yet). Love the leather jacket as blazer for hipper work environments – if you work in a law firm or finance your mileage may vary!

Nor am I! They had all the sizes yesterday and I had a pair in my online cart, dammit! Things are selling fast. Shana may know the restocking strategy better – maybe Mike can write a fancy algorithm to track it!

      • Well, I had an online chat and they said it looks like they will be restocked but they don’t have a date. I really like how much cotton is in these, I really hate clothing with synthetic materials, leggings especially! Always makes me feel like my legs are encased like sausages!

      • S – they’re restocking! The black and burgundy are available in larger sizes now, but inventory’s changing fast! (Hoping for the olive ones to come back in more sizes…)

  1. I’ve had the Vince Camuto seamed back leggings for going on two years now and they’re a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe. They’re nice and thick and dress up or down easily. No signs of wear (especially the dreaded fabric pilling from thigh rub)! I second the recommendation to size down. I’m 5’4″ 160 lbs and have the medium, but could probably get away with a small.

Thanks for the info, Angie! They did feel high quality but you never know how things will actually wear over time, so good to hear they hold up. Great price for a staple, too!

It’s so good! Definitely true to size, maybe even on the larger side, I usually find North Face jackets run really small but this one was perfect in my regular size.
