Jean-girl here, reporting to you from the Pacific Northwest. Ha. No, but really. I adore jeans and I was happy to try on a bunch of pairs from Nordstroms Anniversary Sale lower price denim selection to see if there were some keepers! Full disclosure, there are a couple of mid-priced options in here, but only because I had heard great things and hadn’t tried the brand yet. Overall there are some real steals here and I learned a good deal about brands I had not checked out yet.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Jeans: Higher priced to compare
I tried a couple of higher priced pairs out first so I could compare how the more reasonable denim stacked up. These are two skinny jean fits I hadn’t checked out before. Of course, black jeans are my go-to, but have no fear, there are plenty of blue jean options below, too.
Paige Transcend Hoxton Ankle Slit (28) – Love how they hold me in, high rise and super cute at ankle, but would have to wear with lower profile shoes to really show off the cute cut. Wearing one size up. I love the quality of these and will definitely try another Paige Transcend pair. Just FYI, a 27-28″ inseam is usually right at my ankle. I feel like these should be offered in a petite length to show off the hem best.
Citizens of Humanity Rocket High Rise Black Echoes (27) – I love these. They’re quality and really do hold you in at the waist and make your booty look good. The distressing is cool and I like that it blends in to make it somewhat subtle. These are on major sale compared to their over $200 regular price ($158 on sale). Worth the investment, IMO. I think I’ll be keeping these. I forgot to get a booty shot, but it’s a great booty on these!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Jeans: Lower Price
Kut From the Kloth Diana Skinny (6P) – Liked the quality and the distressing. Felt a little big or like they might slide down with wear. Could have gone with regular size. Length is long for Petite, IMO.
DL1961 Florence Instasculpt (28) – Sized up because they were out of my size at the time, but these were way too big. Feels more like a dress jean than actual denim. Very soft and comfy, but not my style and horrible fit, IMO. Length was too long on me and would have to hem because this fabric wouldn’t fray well. Knees bunched. I can tell they are well made and the butt was pretty good, so I’d try them again in the right size to see. Would be good for work or day to night, I can see, as they said on the description.
NYDJ Skinny Legging (6) – Super soft, love the high rise and the waist is comfy. Still doesn’t feel like a jean, but the fit is good. Would be great for travel or work. Water conscious brand, which is a cool bonus.
Wit & Wisdom Girlfriend (4P) – I loved these! They are a true denim and have a great wash. They are super comfortable and the fit is good. The cuff is great for showing off ankle boots. Love the slim fit, but straighter leg. Only worry was if they would ride down in back at all because they aren’t high rise. I’d call them a good medium rise though. The fit is slimmer on me than it looks on the model and the wash seems a bit lighter. Worth the price tag for sure! A great find.
SP Black Label Destroyed Knee (27) – I know this distressing isn’t for everyone but I liked these. The fit was great and they’re fairly comfy. They seem like they wouldn’t stretch out with wear. They are not high rise and that’s the only reason they aren’t a top pick. Cute though.
Wit & Wisdom Ankle Skimmer (6P) – Love this ankle detail and the length on me. (I’m 5’4″) This was the wrong size though. I should’ve gone with the 4P. They are quite tight in the calves and they aren’t high rise. But the front seam and ankle slit are super cute and would be great with ankle boots, flats, ankle strap wedges. Besides the size though the distressing is just…weird. Dang.
Treasure & Bond High Rise Loose Skinny Crop – (27) – Surprisingly cute. The right knee cutout is a little weird but it doesn’t bother me too much because I love distressing. Love the distressing and patches on the left leg and love the length and high rise on these. Fit TTS. I don’t love the missing back pocket. I’m ok with that on a pair of cutoffs (I have some BLankNYC that way) But I don’t think I’d want that on a pair of jeans for some reason.
Vigoss Jagger Skinny Medium Wash (28) – Sized up one size and they fit well. Kind of weird color and they do nothing for my butt.
Kut from the Kloth Donna Skinny Crop (4) – Really liked this pair. Fit well, comfy and super cute length. I like the simple one knee distressing and for a dark wash this is a good color. A top pick!
Topshop Dree Crop Kick Flare (28) – Love the released hem and the wash, but they are a little tight in the hips and waist even in one size up. Cut for a straighter figure.
Good American High Waist Skinny (4) – Show off your curves super well with these! Love the high waist and the distressing is cute and unique. The wash is a pretty good vintage wash. I didn’t super love how my butt looks in them, but it’s not bad. They are definitely a tight fitting jean, but they have good stretch. I don’t think they would loosen throughout the day.
BlankNYC Canvas Cropped Flare ( 27) – I didn’t realize I had ordered two pairs of crop flares. Haha. But these are cute. They aren’t a denim, more of a stretch fabric and if the raw hem is ok in your office they’d be great for work. They are a little low in the back waist for my preference. Fit TTS. Mid-rise in front.
BlankNYC Skinny Black Dahlia (27) – Too low rise, too small, weird wash. The end.
Treasure & Bond High Rise Loose Skinny Crop in Gravel Medium Destroyed (27) – A little tight but a great wash, length and distressing. Top pick for me! I love this style of crop that is just a bit wider at the ankle than a skinny jean. I know the open inside seam is a little odd but I like the way it adds a little width there.
Trouve Pull On Ankle Lace Up (S) – Super comfy. Love these. They are more of a heavy legging than a jean. The ankle ties are a little floppy when you walk, but they’re so comfy and a great wash and I think it wouldn’t bother me in order to have something unique. I’d say a top pick. The small wasn’t tight on me so if you’re smaller than a 4 go XS. S would fit 4/6, IMO, so TTS. Camper and I were both wearing out at this point. But I kept it together a little better.
Caslon Skinny Burgundy Stem (27) – LOVE the color…it’s seriously perfect. Hate that the knees bunch. Love the raw hem. I was looking for jeans this color all year last year and settle on some I didn’t really love. These. Are so close.
NYDJ Skinny in Desert Gold (4P) – Love this length and the fit is good, but the butt. No. Why. Do they make pockets this small. Boo. I was definitely singing in this picture because I had 90’s pop on to get me through.
Other Outfit Details
Sweater – Rag & Bone Double V Longsleeve Tee (S) – This sweater is amazing and such a go-to. Sadly sold out in burgundy but some sizes still left in black.
Boots – Hinge Barris Block Heel Bootie – UGH mostly sold out. A very few uncommon sizes left. The do fit a bit narrow in the toe box, just FYI. They fit me fine without socks but I don’t think I could wear anything but thin dress socks with them in winter. These are part of the sale and a similar shape/block heel and should be super comfy since they’re Kork-Ease.
Shop These And Other Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Jeans
It depends on the jean. I know. Great, thanks L. But I did find I would definitely try Kut From The Kloth and Treasure & Bond jeans again. It does seem my top overall choice here is the higher priced Citizens (but at a good discount) but I have mid priced jeans I love (hello Madewell,) and jeans from Target I’ve loved, too. The hard part is just that it takes trying on a bunch to find the perfect jean and hopefully that’s where we can come in to help.
Are any of these brands your favorite or have you found a reasonable pair you love? I’d love to hear how some of these wear day to day.
