I have had very little success with maternity dresses. They don’t tend to fit me until the very end of pregnancy. Up until then they resemble tents . . . leaving all kinds of months in between where I’m wondering what the heck to wear. The best solution has actually just been to wear regular dresses that fit over the bump or stretch to accommodate it. Here are 5 of my current favorites:
This dress is awesome. I’ve long been a fan of Free People’s Long Beach tank, and this is the dress version of that tank. I love the length and the drape of the fabric – I’ve been wearing over jeans when it’s cold and will probably have to add shorts underneath when I’m approaching my due date (depending on how big this belly gets). For now it’s perfect as is.
Fit & Flare
This is the perfect layering dress. I was wearing it with leggings and an oversized cardigan, but now that it’s starting to get warmer I can wear it as-is or with a denim jacket or hoodie. This is like a long shirt that’s super soft and comfy (it’s thinner material so it’s not as hot as some other long-sleeved dresses) and could be worn well into fall.
I bought this one in gray and black because it was so comfy and easy to dress up or down. Add some statement earrings or necklaces, a denim jacket or knit cardigan, flat sandals or heels, etc. The perfect base to start with.
