Baby, it’s cold outside! OK, not really…not even close, but we hunted down the best jackets from the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that will make you long for falling leaves, crisp air, and pumpkin spice everything. Whether it’s perfect for layering or is a show-stopper in its own right, there’s something for everyone. And, the great thing about jackets and coats is that they’re not usually what our fellow shoppers run to first, so they’re pretty well-stocked. Three cheers for finalizing those fall wardrobes!
Imagine the comfort of your fav lingerie or loungewear, but it’s a jacket. Specifically, this jacket. Babes, it feels so good. It’s so incredibly soft and has the slightest sheen to it, which is perfect, because as much as I love this shade of green, it can look a tad dull. Luckily, there’s also the gold hardware to keep that from happening. It’s gorgeous, right? The hardware sent me right over the edge. It’s definitely my fav of the lightweight jackets. It’s not often that I think of a solid-color jacket without making my outfit, but this really does! Sizing notes: Size M, TTS.
I like this one just as much as the longer Apex Bionic Grace (below). It runs narrow in the hips, so you may want to size up, if you’re curvy. I read similar reviews, after the fact, of course. IDK why this looks so much cooler than your average rain jacket, but it does. Maybe the stand collar? Yeah, as a lover of popped collars, that’s gotta be it. This is definitely my second fav lightweight jacket. Sizing notes: Size M, runs small in hips.
I REALLY wanted to love this, but it just didn’t love me back. Seriously, what’s up with the beltless trench coats this season? I absolutely adore belts, but I’ll take a drawstring — just give me SOMETHING! What I did love about this is the dip-dye treatment. I wish I would’ve tried it in the classic khaki color, as it would be more striking. I will say, I loved how soft and drapey the fabric is. Sizing notes: Size M, TTS.
I’m not sure I’ll ever turn down a navy jacket; same goes for this one. There’s nothing incredibly memorable about it, but that’s not always a bad thing. Sometimes, you just need to grab a jacket that’ll layer well and go with everything. This is that jacket. It has a hood and inner drawstring (yay!). It also comes in three other colors, so have a little fun with it! Note: It doesn’t appear to be waterproof. Sizing notes: M, TTS
My friend has had this jacket for a few years and loves it, and I love it on her. I’ve been eyeing it for a while, so I did a little happy dance when I saw it in the sale. It’s not as heavy as I thought, but it’s perfect for my everyday, late-fall/early-winter coat. It has zippered pockets, which I thought was weird, but I guess it’ll be nice to know my phone isn’t getting snowed/rained on. The Medium felt a smidge snug around the hips until I unzipped the bottom zipper a tad. I’m still thinking about sizing up though, you may want to as well, if you’re curvy around your hips/booty. Sizing notes: M, runs small in hips.
So, this is a really tough category. I loved all of these coats. If you were really mean and made me choose right now, I’d have to go with this one. The plaid is perfect and I love the oversized buttons. I was surprised the length was good for me, though the sleeves were a tad long (see middle pic). This coat reminds me of so many my dad used to have…I think it’s about time we track those down, but I’m pretty sure I’m keeping this one, just in case. Sizing notes: M, TTS
OK, now do you see why I love all the menswear/wool coats I mean, c’mon, how chic is this oversized plaid?! I also love the offset zipper. It’s a nice detail for adding interest without overdoing it. I will say, I was surprised that it was a lighter weight than I expected from a wool blend coat. Be mindful of that, but it’s nothing that would keep me from purchasing it. The sleeves were long on this one, too, but I think that’s to be expected with an oversized coat. Sizing notes: Size M, TTS
Honestly, I was surprised at how much I liked this one. It doesn’t show well on the site, but it’s definitely an outerwear staple, so I wanted to try it. I’m glad I did, because I really loved it. It’s a heavier weight, but the silhouette is far more tailored than I expected, which was great. It also comes in a camel color. P.S. I hope y’all appreciate the cameo. The kiddos were so gracious in letting me commandeer the only clean, well-lit corner of the house, so I guess I had the photobomb coming! Sizing notes: Size 10, TTS
OK, all you teddy bear coat lovers, these are for you! I have my reservations about anything markedly “teddy bear” inspired, but this is definitely more faux fur. Still, the cuddly softness of it gave me the chicest teddy bear vibes. The longer silhouette was perfect, too. I could see myself wearing this for a night out. The whole reversible concept is debatable…I didn’t even realize it while I was trying it on. It definitely doesn’t look like anything I would want to wear out. Do yourself a favor and just stick to the super cute faux fur. Sizing Notes: Size M, TTS
This coat definitely gets high marks for comfort and originality. The combined fringe and teddy bear treatments are so good. I would seriously pet myself the whole time I wore this. But, I hate to tell ya, it’s gonna shed everywhere. Like a pet. It was bad, y’all. It’s one of those jackets that you’ll definitely stand out in, but be sure you’ve planned to wear an outfit that won’t show the awful shedding. It’s too bad because this jacket is killer!
Oh, I just can’t quit you, Rosa! I didn’t buy this jacket during my first round of #FittingRoomSelfies, but alas, I went back for it because, FOMO. I absolutely ADORE this jacket, but I already have two that are similar. I’m gonna hang onto it while I decide who should get cut this year. Eesh, I’m getting worked up just talking about it! Here’s the thing, these quilted sleeves are so major! I don’t even know why, but they really make the jacket. The fit it so perfect, and the texture is spot on. The leather version gets great reviews, too, but I didn’t try it. Seriously, if you’re in the market for a classic moto jacket, this is probably the one you’ve been waiting for. Sizing notes: US 10, TTS
You know what? I grabbed this jacket because it made me think of the endless styling possibilities for our family Christmas photo session. Yep, I’m already thinking about it. Not to mention, it’s just a great fall color. I didn’t realize the jacket didn’t have a collar, but I really didn’t miss it. I style everything with chunky scarves anyway, so it’s all good. My only issue is I wondered if the length was a tad short…thoughts? Sizing Notes: Size L, TTS
Surprise, surprise, I’m loving this color! I would look forward to wearing color every day in the drab winter months. This is a lightweight puffer, which I really like. I usually gravitate toward the standard, super-puffy puffer, so this sleek change of pace feels good. The leather trim really makes this jacket; it’s such a simple, but chic detail. It’s definitely my fav puffer of the bunch!
This is the jacket I’d wear in the fall/winter when it’s cold, but I don’t want to commit to a huge coat because it’s only a quick run for milk and bread. OK, wine and chocolate chip cookies run, but ANYWAY, this jacket would get the job done. It would also be a stylish, packable layer for traveling between cooler climates. I love the sporty thumb holes, and I’m thinking it’ll keep all the cold air from sneaking in the jacket. There’s also an internal pocket for your phone where geezers like me can also pull their wired headset through. Sizing notes: Size L, TTS.
Oh man, did anyone else have a ton of this jacket style 20-ish years ago? It’s revamped some for my 20-years-later style and body, but still pretty sassy. I love how it’s shorter without being snug around the waist. It’s definitely a great, casual puffer. It would probably be more wearable than the Blanc Noir jacket, since I could see wearing it with some dress-casual looks, too. I’m on the fence with how much I like the oversized zipper, but I think it’s growing on me. Sizing notes: Size L, TTS.

Ugh, I’m such a sucker for outerwear! I’ve got it narrowed down to my top four (Badgley Mischka anorak, Halogen plaid wool coat, The North Face Apex Bionic Grace, and Topshop Rosa moto), so we’ll see if I make any more cuts. Which were your favs? This is my last post of the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I can’t believe it! These last few weeks have been crazy! Thanks for hanging with me.
