Wear It Now, Wear It Later: Abercrombie #DressingRoomSelfies

Last year around this time I ventured into Abercrombie for the first time in forever. Well, I was so pleasantly surprised with their updated style, quality and overall company approach that I I ventured back in again this year. While last year I found lots of true fall items, this year they had a nice mix of early fall pieces and late summer gorgeousness. Come along and we’ll transition into this next season together, slowly. (Most of these pieces are currently 30% off using CODE 11642!)

Wear it Now

Cool (Literally) Linen Pants and Knot Front Blouse

Top: Knot Front Blouse – This is one of my favorite finds. It’s so cute and blousy on top but pulled in at the waist making it oh so flattering. It’s long enough to wear perfectly with high rise jeans and avoid a belly show. I LOVE it. It comes in a stripe you’ll see below and an adorable white with tiny heart print. I was so enamored with these I kinda wore them with every outfit. Haha. Wearing a Small.

Pants: Wide Leg Linen Pants – Another favorite find. The yellow is going fast, but they come in a couple other colors, too. They are so flattering and lightweight. The perfect end of summer pant for everyday with a tank and flat sandals or to work or to just about any late summer event. LOVE. Wearing my normal size 27 here. Size up if in between sizes.

Boots: Steve Madden Petra – SO comfy. Love love love. Not stark white (aka easier to wear) and a cool suede snake texture. TTS.

Matching Set of Stripes

Top: V Neck Tank – I ventured out of the ol’ comfort zone just a bit here and I’m glad I did. This is so adorable. I’m super tempted to get it now on sale for next summer or for winter vacation.

Pants: Palazzo Pants – Super cute. Wearing a medium here but could’ve gone small for a more flattering fit in the hips. TTS.

Cardigan: Open Front Cardigan – This cardigan is too heavy for this ensemble, but I love the color and length as an overlayer for this outfit. Would love to find a linen or cotton version! A white blazer would also be cute. A bit oversized. Super soft and cozy. Wearing XS.

BootsSteve Madden Petra – SO comfy. Love love love. Not stark white (aka easier to wear) and a cool suede snake texture. TTS.

Adorable Black Jumpsuit

Jumpsuit: Tie-Back Jumpsuit – Super cute! It’s always a win to find a good black jumpsuit. I’m wearing a small here and it was just a little tight in the ribcage (always for me) but fit great otherwise. Love how the waist is shaped here.

BootsSteve Madden Petra – I’d typically pair this with a wedge sandal of course, but it’s nice to see a jumpsuit with a shoe rather than barefoot. LOVE these boots though and they go with just about everything else. TTS.

My Favorite Knot Front Tops with Skinny Jeans

Top 1Knot Front Blouse – Again, obsessed. Wish I had bought all three prints. The sleeve length on these tops is another perfection point for me. It’s such a flattering shape. Wearing a Small.

Jean 1: High Rise Ankle Jean – Well dang, this pair is excluded from the weekend sale, but they’re super cute. I would want them a tiny bit shorter on me and I’m wearing the Short length, but I adore the sporty side stripe. TTS. Wearing 27 Short.

Top 2Knot Front Blouse

Jean 2: High Rise Jean Legging in Olive – Good fit and good color. Raw hem. TTS. I love these for a foray away from black or blue denim. Wearing 27, pretty sure it’s the Short length.

Top 3Knot Front Blouse

Jean 3: Simone High Rise Super Skinny Jeans – I felt really amazing in these. They are soft but flattering, a great rise, and comfy. I highly recommend if you need a good black skinny jean (which we all know is my favorite thing ever!) Wearing 27 Short. TTS.

BootsSteve Madden Petra – SO comfy. Love love love. Not stark white (aka easier to wear) and a cool suede snake texture. TTS.

Comfy Joggers To Wear Out or In

TopKnot Front Blouse

Pants: Side Stripe Joggers – Another item I loved. These fleece joggers are SO soft and comfy and would be great for travel and/or knocking around the house. I like pairing a relaxed pant with an unexpected top and ankle boots to take them up a notch. I’d throw on a denim or leather jacket with these as it gets cooler. Joggers have ankle zips and cute side stripe. TTS or just a bit big. Wearing a Small.

Scarf: Midweight Plaid Scarf – So soft and the perfect weight. It’s also a great neutral plaid that pairs well with just about anything and doesn’t look too busy.

BootsSteve Madden Petra – SO comfy. Love love love. Not stark white (aka easier to wear) and a cool suede snake texture. TTS.

Can Camo Be Gorgeous? A Great Shirt-Style Jacket For Layering

Jacket: Shirt Jacket – This jacket is great. I am adoring the pale camo for a nice updated color palette. It’s lovely. The jacket is more of a shirt style fit, but has a great inner drawstring that is flattering on the waist. I’d say it runs slightly small, so size up if you’re between sizes. Wearing a Small. It’s on clearance, so going kinda quickly!

Jeans: Super High Rise Skinny Jeans – I have been really happy with the fit of Abercrombie jeans, the high rise pairs, that is. These fit so great and are TTS. I’m not digging quite so much distressing on this particular pair, but some of the other washes have a bit less. The darker wash that links here is nice. Wearing 27R (I tucked them under at the hem).

Top: Guess which one? Knot Front Blouse

What I Want To Wear Everyday This Fall

Top: Colorblock Crew Sweatshirt – OK, yes. This is also soft. What unicorn magic do they have going on at A&F? Butter. They’re like butter these sweats pieces. I am digging this sweatshirt. The colors are perfect, especially with this scarf. Wearing a Small.

Shop Transitional Pieces from Abercrombie

I’m realizing I used the words soft, comfy and cozy a bazillion times here. Abercrombie somehow has magic fabrics that are amazingly soft. I highly recommend them as a stop for some fall updates to the closet. They have sales fairly regularly, making them an affordable stop, too! Have you tried any pieces there lately? I’d love to hear your favs. Bonus. It didn’t smell of strong cologne when I went in! But there’s more selection online it seems, so you don’t even have to risk it.

We’re off to the Oregon coast today for a short trip away from the heat. Hope you’re staying cool, too!

  1. Wow! I stopped in Abercrombie too, Laura, on a rare just-me (no children) shopping trip today. Couldn’t agree with you more on their high-rise jeans – so flattering and perfect. I bought three pairs!
I missed the adorable blouse you loved, but will be ordering it – looks SO cute on you! I agree on the buttery-soft feeling of their clothes. I got a long-sleeve shirt on clearance half because it looked great and half because it was so dang soft.
Smiling at your cologne comment, and it was true for my Chicago store too. And on a side note, the sales associates could NOT have been more sweet; they were all great.
I also really wanted to thank you and others here at TME who encouraged us to try Abercrombie again; I probably would not have stopped there otherwise due to time constraints. I’m so glad I did, and it’s solely because of you beyond-awesome people . Reason number 374 to heart TME. 🙂

    • YOU are amazing. Thanks for the total kindness here. This job we have is sometimes weird and we’re on our own a bit, so I am SO glad it’s helpful. SO glad! Thanks again mama and hope you love your items!!

  2. Thanks Laura — always love your style and advice! Just got the jacket and the blouse in striped — can’t wait to get them.

  3. That mockneck sweater in the third row is the skirt-less version of a sweaterdress I bought from Abercrombia last fall and LOVED – so flippin’ flattering, long enough to ‘mom’ in, perfectly fitted but not tight. Bonus, I washed it in the washing machine more than once and laid flat to dry and it comes out perfectly, which isn’t always the case for affordable knitwear.

  4. Love everything you selected! Funny, I was in their store yesterday in SF. As a older mom, I got stressed out when I saw all the short summer dresses and the music was way too loud. So i didn’t have the patience to do further shopping. I am a size 4, but i was thinking that I’d need a Med or Large in their clothes. Thanks for showing some cool options!

    • I’m so glad to help! Haha, it is weird sometimes venturing in, but when I discovered they have some great finds I was like WHO CARES. Happy to do this work for us all! xo

  5. Those yellow pants are amazing and look so great on you. Better on you than the model! Also loving the knotted shirt too. Great finds.
