The Best of Kids from The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

There is a sweet spot for kid’s outfits.  They need pretty basic stuff that can be played in and worn out (Mama don’t mess around with fussy – especially since kids are so fickle). I aim more for function over fashion when it comes to my kids’ everyday wardrobe.  However, there’s nothing wrong with a few funsies – creative and/or fantastical pieces because….kids.   I love finding cool jackets, sneakers that make a statement, dresses w/ imaginative graphics, and quirky tees or button-ups (for example). It’s always the unique, stand-out stuff that immediately gets my attention, because I know it’ll be the “booster” to their relatively basic outfits.

And since the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is still going strong…what better time to shop for both hard-working, everyday basics….as well as the funsies?  This year’s sale has plenty of those imaginative-type pieces for me to choose from, AND it looks like stuff a kid will actually want to wear  (and can actually be a kid in).

Here are my favorites (and what I snagged for my chickadees) from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale…

ps.  I’d like that faux-fur coat in my size, thankyouverymuch.

On Maddie

Top: Stem Stripe Baseball Top (TTS) – Something a little different from the usual kids’ tee, BUT it’s still super-comfortable.

Jacket: Tucker & Tate Faux Fur Bomber (wearing small, TTS) – Cozy little jacket, not too heavy, great price for a messy busy kid. I also ordered this Happy Little Varsity Jacket, which Mads loooooooves. It has a smily face on the back! Come on.

Jeans: Crewcuts Star Print Jeans (TTS) – The perfect jean for a girl like Mads (one that loathes real jeans).

Shoes: Steve Madden Embellished Sneaker (TTS) – She liked the sparkle. Note: will need socks, so may want to consider a half-size up. Mads went w/o and got a blister. Whoops!

On Anthony

Jacket: AG Knit Bomber (size 4, TTS) – Really obsessed with this. It’s like a sweatshirt, but a cool  jacket.

Button down: Tucker & Tate Print Shirt (TTS, wearing 4) – Quirky top for my planet-obsessed boy. Perfect over a tee or buttoned up without!

Tee: Stem Cotton Tee (TTS, wearing 4) – Soft and a great basic to have for layering.

Shorts: Volcom Chino (wearing size 5, but could have gone with usual size 4) – For some reason I got Anthony a size up from his normal, so they were a tad bit too big on him. Definite room for growth, which he can always use. I like that these can be worn with the majority of tees and tops in his closet. BTW: these Tucker & Tate jeans would also be a great option. Gotta love a stretchy waist without buttons.

Shoes: Adidas N-5923 Sneaker (TTS) – Great sneaker. He didn’t complain about them being uncomfortable once. So…I also ordered the Adidas Gazelle Sneaker in green, and, while they didn’t come in time to be photographed on my guy, I wanted to share. Too cool.

On Connor

Button downStem Print Shirt (2T) – So I don’t know if Connor is just a smaller child (his body is a bit shorter than his bro’s), but 2T seems to be a bit too big for him. I didn’t want to order a smaller size, because he just keeps growing and growing, BUT keep that in mind. You may want to go down a size, if your kid is a relatively average size. BTW: I would have also gone with these Tucker & Tate Jeans.

Tee: Stem Print Tee (2T) – Again, slightly too big for him. Only slightly. The star print is adorable and looks great layered under the lighting bolt button up. Pattern play for boys!

Shorts: O’Neill Hybrid Plaid Short – Coolest, faded plaid print. They are lightweight, comfortable and the perfect play short. Again, a bit too big on my little guy. He’ll fit in them soon!

Shoes: Plae High Top Sneaker – My favorite sneaker brand for kids. Seriously. I cannot praise them enough. They are high-quality, last an entire school year (or summer), which you all know is crazy for kids and how hard they are on shoes. Also, they can be washed. YES. We love these shoes in our house.

By the way, I did indeed bribe my kids with $10 each to get them to “play it cool” for these pictures.

Becoming the rockstar mom I always wanted to be, one bribe at a time.

Cheers,

A huge thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post! Your Anniversary Sale has us all gaga, of course. It was great fun coming up with outfits for the kids. As always, all thoughts, opinions, and product choices are my own. And readers, thank you for your continued support. It doesn’t go unnoticed and is so very much appreciated!
