The One Piece Every Guy Needs: Denim Jacket

There are certain elements of guy style that can be tricky.  Tank tops, for example.  Visible suspenders.  Hats. (Fedoras aren’t for everyone, and neither are driver’s caps…unless his name is Alfred in which case maybe throw those suspenders in, too.)

But the one piece that is virtually foolproof is the denim jacket.  And the most foolproof one of all?  Levi’s.  Denim jackets work with rugged good looks or pretty, pretty faces.  They’re just….cool.  And pair with all manner of man-slacks:  khakis, dress pants, camo pants, jeans.

The key to wearing denim jackets with jeans (at least for guys – let’s just keep things suuuuper simple) is to simply make sure that the denim jacket you choose is a DIFFERENT color than the jean.

Mike has been into Madewell’s new jeans for guys lately, so I got him a darker wash denim jacket (a color I think goes really well with khaki pants or even black jeans).  And frankly, this looks exactly like a denim jacket he owned ages ago, and has since lost.  But it’s kind of amazing how timeless this piece is.

Denim JacketLevi’s Denim Trucker Jacket (size medium) – truth be told, one of the reasons I didn’t get Mike a black denim jacket is because I have this one and didn’t want to be twinsies, haha.  But Nordstrom has a seriously great selection of denim jackets for guys (Levi’s specifically).  My top four are these ones:

SweaterBonobos Merino Wool Knit Henley (medium) – Mike often layers a lightweight wool (or cashmere) sweater under his denim jacket.  These two are his current favs (look closely at the black cashmere one – it has a cool texture detail):

Jeans: Madewell Slim Fit Jeans (size 32)

Sneakers: Onitsuka Tiger Serrano sneaks

Oh hey buddy.

A big thank-you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!  As always, all thoughts, opinions, and product choices are our own.  And readers, thank you for your continued support.  It doesn’t go unnoticed, and is so very much appreciated.
