I pretty much only wear velvet this time of year…but then I want to wear it for ALL THE THINGS. It’s so soft and luxurious and fabulous for the holidays….and now I just want to go out and buy a velvet couch to lounge on all winter…hmmm…

So, we love velvet — but what to wear it with? This new favorite ivory sweater that is 85% cashmere and under $70? OK, yes, please. This is my holiday outfit formula. I’m definitely sporting this first look for Thanksgiving day next week and I don’t care if that means flying with these heavy, wear-once on my trip, leather boots. #fashion you guys. But let’s check out the combos, shall we?

Sink into this luxurious cozy with usI’ve jumped on the wide-leg pants game finally. These are what converted me. These are fabulous, fit well and are super comfy. The color is a gorgeous olive that will easily go beyond the holidays and will be wearable all winter, especially with accessories in this gorgeous warm cognac brown. These pants would also go great with all black or black with leopard shoes or accessories. But I’m loving them with this ivory sweater for probably the coziest non-loungewear outfit ever.

Ivory Sweater – I LOVE this so much. Cozy and perfectly oversized without being too big. I do like it half-tucked to lengthen my legs. I can’t tell you how cozy it is. It also comes in black. It’s 85% cashmere and under $70. Yes, please. Wearing a Small.

Madewell Emmett Crop Wide-Leg Velveteen Pants – These are gorgeous, comfy for being so high-waisted and lovely. They’re very flattering and a statement pant for the winter without being too loud or too bold to wear regularly. I sized down to a 26 here because they seem like they would stretch in the waist some with wear. I haven’t worn them all day yet, but it seems I was correct. I was happy the regular length worked fine on me, since they don’t offer a petite size.

Frye Boots – Mine are vintage, but this style is super similar. And THESE. Gorgeous and have a similar 70’s vibe in the same great cognac shade.

Madewell Transport Tote – Mine is older and doesn’t zip, but I’d love that version.

LOFT Velvet Button Fly Skinny Jeans – These are insanely gorgeous and flattering. I will be wearing these all holiday season, and am thinking of ways I can style them into winter that would make them everyday wearable. Maybe my leopard combat boots would be fun with them — plus a graphic tee and cozy cardigan. Regardless, you need these pants. Wearing 27 Petite. TTS.

Leopard Heels – Mine are old from J.Crew and I wish they would bring them back. They are high for me but make any outfit look killer. Whoever I’m with just has to wait longer for me to catch up. Haha. The pair I linked to are a lighter shade like mine, which I think is more easily wearable and a little more chic.

Pink Clutch (similar) – This one from Etsy is handmade, gorgeously similar and on sale!

Have you dived into velvet yet this season? Haha. That would be amazing. I’m also still eyeing this great emerald tank from my round up (I think Alexis snagged it, too!) to wear with my black coated jeans and silver boots. Oooh. Yes.

  1. The sweater is really pretty. Does it shed? Have you noticed pilling yet?

I do love velvet, but find that it doesn’t wear well, especially with pants. The velvet gets matted and seems to magnify imperfections.

    • I haven’t noticed shedding or piling on the sweater yet! I’ve worn it a few times. The info says it has 15% non-piling material, so I’m hoping that will prevent any. Yes, velvet is sometimes not hard wearing, but both of these seem to be ok after a couple of wears and nothing too bad! Maybe because they are velveteen?

  2. I bought both the black and cream versions of the sweater when you first posted about them. They are AWESOME. I sized up to get the oversized fit I wanted, and found that the black one runs smaller than the cream.

  3. I feel you are so much more edgy than me, but yet 90% of your posts have you in clothes I just bought or an eyeing. LOL Maybe I am edgier than I think – ha! I just bought a J.Crew Factory velvet wrap top and plan on wearing it with black velvet jeans for Thanksgiving. Velvet is my holiday friend. Also, I want that sweater.
