What To Wear To The Office Holiday Party

I’ve been on a virtual team at work for nearly six years now. What I really miss is the camaraderie and after-hours hangs. I have an awesome team, but holiday parties just aren’t a thing when we’re split across the U.S. But hey, that doesn’t stop me from planning how to reimagine my nine-to-five look for evening shenanigans. I know ALL about the inner struggle of whether to go home to change. Ultimately, I prefer to wear something that easily transforms into an evening look, because going home is dicey. I’m likely to fall asleep and not come back out…lol….So, enter this amazing cropped jumpsuit that’s universally flattering on shorties like me, and on your average/tall mamas. I dressed it down, then dressed her right back up to cover your work day and beyond. AND, it’s 48% off, which is a crazy good deal!

Work Hard

As hard as you work, you need your clothes to work even harder. Don’t put your fav jumpsuit away for the season! Get extra mileage out of it by styling with a sweater.

Wrap-Tie Jumpsuit: When you find my waist, let me know because it just disappeared in this jumpsuit. I’ve learned that I can’t wear jumpsuits without waist belts, and this one hits me just right. I’m wearing my usual size 10; it’s TTS.

Collar Sweater: It’s lightweight enough that it’s good for layering under the jumpsuit without the bulk. The woven collar gives a nice illusion that you’ve got another layer under there, but your secret’s safe with me. I’m wearing size M, TTS.

Brocade pumps (Similar): Oddly, when I initially bought these shoes, it was months before I finally figured out how to style them. Now, I wear them with everything!

Vegan Tote: I may or may not have stolen this from my photographer after she showed up with it at our last shoot. It’s so large and sturdy. I gave it back, but it’s now on my Christmas list.

Watch (Movado): Classic with a two-tone metal twist. This watch was a Christmas gift from my husband years ago and I still adore it.

Earrings and Cuff : I snagged these drop earrings and cuff from a local jewelry studio to build up my everyday jewelry look. They’re minimal and classic, but still have enough character that I don’t feel bare.

Party Harder

Prest-o, change-o! All it takes is a few sparkly accessories and a beaded bodysuit to take this gorgeous jumpsuit into any holiday party. Best part is, it’ll hardly take up much space in that nice roomy tote (seriously, you need it). OK, enough chatting, which way to the food?

Beaded Bodysuit: I love the look of this bodysuit, but the sizing is all off! The large is so small, I had to wear it as a crop top instead of a bodysuit. Oh well…I had much better luck with the sizing of this mesh top. The large was TTS, and it also comes in XL and more color choices.

Metallic Pumps (Similar): ‘Tis the season for metallic everything! A block heel is good for dancing (or eating) the night away.

Glitter Clutch (similar): I bought this clutch last year thinking I’d wear it through the holidays. Little did I know, I’d wear it ALL year. Sparkle can’t be contained to a season.

Watch: Classic with a two-tone metal twist. This watch was a Christmas gift from my husband years ago and I still adore it.

Cuff : I snagged this cuff from a local jewelry studio to build up my everyday jewelry look. It’s minimal and classic, but still has enough character that I don’t feel bare.

Cat Eye Sunglasses: I bought these for my last vacation so I didn’t lose my designer pair. I hope these last a few trips because I really like them.

Pear Chandelier Earrings: Nothing beats finding a nice pair of pearl chandelier earrings in the back of the jewelry box. I don’t wear these kinds of earrings nearly as much as I used to, so I enjoyed this look.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to par-tay! I had to reschedule my Friendsgiving happy hour with my girlfriends, so maybe I can show up in all my snatched-waist jumpsuit glory for Friendsmas later this month. Shh, don’t tell them. It’s likely to be documented in my Instagram stories, so be sure to follow me there. And, I’ll always have my outfit details on Liketoknow.it, so be sure to find me there, too. Or, just invite me to your next party; that works, too!

Kate, I went through quite the phase with brocade shoes. Now, I wear them whenever my look feels a little bland. I’ll have to work on something with how I style my fav statement pieces. Thanks for the feedback!

  1. I love these outfits! Is the Minkoff clutch you linked to the same as the sparkly clutch in your pictures? In the last picture of you, it looks like you are holding the clutch with your hand through some sort of band, which seems super functional and appealing to me, but the Minkoff clutch linked to doesn’t seem to have something like that?

Hey Amanda, no it’s not the same; mine is so old. I found the most similar, in terms of sparkle, but alas, no “pass through” slot that I’ve been able to find.

  2. That bodysuit is really beautiful but I’m sitting here laughing at the notion of wearing not one, but TWO items of clothing that impede my ability to pee easily! (Maybe the bodysuit-as-crop-top would be a good thing for someone like me, haha).

You’ve got me there, Katie! I honestly didn’t even think of it because this jumpsuit was so easy to get in/out of.

  3. Again you are so glam! Love your looks. I want to find a jumpsuit for winter but I am short and have not found one that didn’t overwhelm me.

Thanks, Kate!! I’m short, too (5’3″-ish), so I’ve found that going for the cropped jumpsuits, like the one I’m wearing, often results in the perfect length, even if you choose flats. I also prefer jumpsuits with a tie at the waist or heavily tailored at the waist. Hope that helps!

  4. AHHH This came a day too late to order for our party! OUTFIT FOMO!

Guess i’ll just do jumpsuit with suede jacket. sigh.

Candace, you were supposed to send me your holiday party schedule, LOL! The jumpsuit and suede jacket sounds amazing, too!!
