As part of the Philly team, I often work with S on up-and-coming trends and outfit ideas that we reaaally hope you guys will love — of course, all while keeping practicality and comfort in mind. Our original mission this week? Comfy Thanksgiving Outfits.

We get that it’s October, but the team has been talking all the holidays for… weeks now? And for some reason, monochromatic neutrals keep coming up, and I’m drooling over it. As little color as possible? That’s my jam. This all led to my *accidental* roundup of monochromatic neutrals for Thanksgiving and we realized maaaybe it’s a bit daring for a holiday that involves cranberry sauce and red wine. (Especially for those of us who struggle to keep our food on the plate and in our mouths. No judgment, I’m that person).

Yet…dressing up for this time of year can be difficult when you’re someone who pretty much despises most color. (Dramatic, maybe, but you neutral lovers will understand.) Red, green? Absolutely not. But maybe…something special? Wearing no color (all black?) especially around the holidays makes me feel a little bah humbug.

With that, I made it my mission to find chic (and colorless) but super-comfy outfits that give us all the festive vibes. The solution?

Hues of cream and tan. The ultimate elegance.

And while these outfits may be better suited to other holiday events…I’m still tempted to try them on Thanksgiving. But I’ll maybe stay from the cranberry sauce or pack myself an extra bib.

Practicalities, people.

(Pssst…when you’re done with this one, head over to our Holiday Style Central for more outfit ideas and party inspo.)

Chic & Comfy Holiday Outfit Ideas:
Neutrals In Cream & Tan

1. Cozy Sweater Pants & Matching Sweater

Sweater pants are becoming a thing and I am HERE FOR IT. Usually, my outfit requirements are: #1 mostly neutral and #2 comfort (I cannot stress this last one enough — as someone who wears band tees on the daily).

Pair them with a cozy sweater, a similar-toned trench and you have yourself a chic, cozy holiday outfit. We also threw in some sneaks because let’s be real… if you’re like me, those things are coming off as soon as you get to the grandparents’ for the big ol’ holiday dinner. How can I eat with all that restriction??

2. Sleek Matching Knit Skirt Sets

A newly found obsession: matching knit sets. Something about it is just so darn…elegant? Chic. Chic is just the right word.

Again, added some snake print because we’re still fun. Also, have been loving metal, chain-link purses. There’s something so early 2000s about it, minus the tacky.

Naturally, H&M already sold out of the cream set we’ve been dying over, so I rounded up more options below.

3. Cute Sweater Dresses For The Win

This outfit in particular is the sneakiest of the three, and a personal fave because no amount of holiday food consumption will show. Just me, my hidden cookie pooch and zero regrets.

In case I haven’t made it obvious, I’m currently obsessed with animal prints (snake print in, this instance) because it’s my monochromatic way of breaking up what some of you may consider BOR-ing. Adding some funky accessories like those square hoops helps add in all the extra fun.

The point I’ve (hopefully) made here is….we neutral-lovers can be fun too — even during the holidays!

  1. Danielle, so glad you brought back the creams and whites for the winter. Black does become so drab, boring and quite frankly depressing around the holidays(don’t get me wrong, I love my black!). Did not know the creams and whites could look so elegant but still casual enough for let’s say Thanksgiving Eve festivities. Great job. Looking forward to your future ideas. PS-Love band shirts myself!

  2. Danielle,
So glad to see the neutrals!! For those of us red heads, I’ve always loved neutrals, just glad I might be in style now. While I’m not a band tee shirt kind of person, I love the black as well, but definitely think there’s something daring and elegant about winter whites and creams! I think it catches the eye during a season that can be so drab. Guess we’ll need to put away the cranberry sauce and switch the red wine to white !! Love the theme and can’t wait to see what’s next !

  3. Such great suggestions! I love winter whites/neutrals and these are some really good ones! That camel dress and snakeskin boot combination is excellent!
