Personally, I have two go-to jean styles that I absolutely love: flares and wide-leg. This fall, one particular pair of black wide-leg jeans has earned a spot as my top pick – The Joe’s Mia Wide Leg in a unique shade of black. What sets them apart is their subtle coating, which adds a refreshing twist to the classic black jeans. I love them for all-day wear, but they’re extra special at night, making any outfit feel slightly more elevated.
I wore them in Colombia several times, and of course, right after leaving, I had to shoot some looks with them.
3 Ways To Wear Black, Wide-Leg Jeans At Night
These pants have become what I grab on days I want to look more put-together and don’t want regular jeans. They make me feel like a million bucks while feeling incredibly comfortable. They strike that ideal balance—neither too stiff nor too weighty—just absolute perfection.
Of course, since I’m on the petite side, achieving that perfect fit required a bit of tailoring. Despite wanting to wear them with my highest heels for the ultimate leggy look, I went for a length that works with a low heel and a platform sneaker, ensuring I get the most wear out of them.
But!!! I just saw that Anthropologie has them in petite length. What? Love that!
Shop More Black Wide-leg Jeans
The looks below will work with any pair of wide-leg black jeans, so here, you can find some options in different black washes and prices.
Outfit 1. Cozy with a Fleece Sweatshirt and Cowboy Boots
I’m all about warm and chic sweatshirts now. I rarely get something in two colors, let alone three but this Nike phoenix sweatshirt and its slightly cropped length and shorter in the front ribbed hem have me obsessed. The fit is so wearable with dressier pants – you don’t have a lot of extra bulk as you’d do with a longer one.
While not fully visible my cowboy boots are one of my most recent purchases and I’m obsessed with how easy and warm is to wear them under wide-leg jeans.
My specific pair was custom-made in Colombia because of my wide calves, but these were the ones I was obsessed with before getting mine. They come in a ton of gorgeous colors and the quality is top-notch.

Outfit 2. Casual-chic: With a Black Tee + a Cropped Jacket + Low-heeled Boots
I love using black bottoms and tops as canvas and then adding more unique pieces to make it me. This is the season where all-black outfits become the usual, but I find that infusing a touch of color and texture keeps the look from becoming boring.
Additionally, a wardrobe staple I adore is a shorter jacket. As a petite individual with shorter legs, anything that draws the eye upward is incredibly beneficial. These jackets not only help achieve that balance but also complement my look beautifully, especially when paired with wide-leg pants.

Outfit 3. Night-out Ready with a Corset Top and Pointy Ankle Boots
A trend that has really caught my eye is the corset top. The boning, which doesn’t feel tight or constricting, creates a flattering, slimming, and elongated silhouette. Plus, the longer curved hem at the front is just perfect if you like to keep your midsection covered when wearing shorter tops.

My Favorite Going-out Boots
As much as I love a block heel, sometimes I want a sleek and more elegant look. So, I’ve been getting quite obsessed with pointy-toe ankle boots with a mid-tapered heel, especially those by Naturalizer. They’re cushiony, soft, and walkable – I can dance in them!
My exact pair sold out at Nordstrom but it’s available on the Naturalizer site in white and black in addition to the gorgeous reddish brown I have.

Veronica Beard has the most amazing pair, if you have a more formal life than I do and can give them enough wear. Check other options below.
OK, so that’s it! These are three go-to outfits with the Joe’s Mia Wide Leg Jeans I love so much. Did I mention it’s my second pair in this style? You can see my review of the denim version right here. Highly recommend.
