I’m getting a ton of wear out of these items right now, friends. Isn’t that the best? When a little capsule wardrobe comes together to make life easier and yet not boring? You know I’m all about not boring. This collection is loosely based on what I actually bought for this fall, if you saw that post. It just so happens that I made some picks that translate into really wearable items. Hooray! I love it when a plan comes together–my dad’s favorite saying!
Turns out wide-leg cropped jeans and low-cut western ankle booties are just made for each other. The combo is flattering, and a new jeans shape was one of my goals! And plaid blazers go well with both of these things, too. Something cozy and fuzzy is ALWAYS at the top of the list for fall, and an update to the ol’ sweatshirt has been a fabulous addition. It’s fun to find a solid refresh to your wardrobe with a few pieces that are easy to wear and stylish yet comfy. I get towards the end of summer and think “Welp, I guess I’m done as a style blogger…I’m totally out of ideas” Ha. I’m stoked to report that this fall it has somehow come together again, and I’m still here, y’all. (insert smiley emoji with the drop of sweat)
Brown Plaid Blazer
You’ve heard me rave about it, but a plaid blazer (this year in a shade of brown) is hands down a fav item. Blazers always spruce up a look, but there’s just something about this slight throw-back plaid that is fun this time, and adds that pattern/texture to an outfit that I love. They keep selling out in all the different versions I find, but I keep looking and finding more! Thank goodness.

I wrote a whole diatribe (OK, well, maybe not that much) about how versatile this style of shoe is right now. I’m getting the absolute most wear out of this nice tan/neutral pair. They’re easy to pull on and easy to walk in and wear all day, but a little upgrade from my typical sneakers or combat boots. Last weekend I took them as only one of two pairs of shoes to my in-laws…for the whole weekend. I am a habitual over-packer when it comes to shoes, so this was a win. I wore this exact outfit, another similar with the blue jeans, and then was able to put them on with my gray sweater dress for Sunday.

I mean, a good cozy piece is just all you want to throw on for cold mornings right now. This pattern is super fun, but this leopard (ooh) or this shade are amazing; sadly mine’s going quickly. I also scored a hat I’ve been searching for lately, and now I’m all set for cold temps.
Hooray for getting out of my skinny jean rut! I’m adoring how comfy and fresh wide-leg jeans feel, whether they’re really wide or more of a wide straight leg cut like my fav vintage black 501’s below. I cropped both of these to be most flattering, and have a video on my Instagram highlights showing the before and after!

What item(s) are you wearing on heavy rotation these days? Are any of you operating from a capsule wardrobe this fall? With this job and offering lots of options and ideas for y’all, it’s hard for me to do a strict capsule, but I adore how easy it is to get dressed when I do. I love having a handful of things to pull from in the morning when I’m choosing what to wear. It’s so time-saving and makes it especially easy to pack! What are you loving right now?
