5 Ways I’m Styling A Gorgeous Summer Statement Top

I recently fell in love with this Farm Rio linen statement top. You saw it in my recent post here, styled with my new favs– these versatile, slim, black pants.

But a) because summer is pretty short in the PNW, b) the style is a little different than my everyday vibe and c) the top is a bit of an investment, I was on the fence about keeping it.

So, of course, as with any new investment piece, I needed to see the top styled multiple ways. (Thanks to a reminder from our dear S.) So off I went, on my favorite assignment around here…styling one item in a variety of outfits.

Fit & Fabric: This top runs a little narrow through the torso but has plenty of room in the shoulders. I tried the Large, too, to see if I would prefer the fit, but I didn’t. So stick to your typical size here. It wasn’t tight in my torso, nor overly boxy or dangerously swingy.

Care + Where To Find It: It’s made of 100% linen, recycled materials and machine-washable on gentle. Line dry + iron. No dry cleaning necessary. It’s available at multiple retailers, too, which is always a plus!

5 Ways To Wear This Farm Rio Linen Statement Top For Summer

If I had to pick just one type of article to write for the rest of my days it would be this. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing try-ons of various brands and clothing pieces and providing helpful fit info, but my jam is always coming up with a bunch of different outfits.

I freaking love it. It’s like playing with wearable art supplies or designing myself instead of a logo. So let’s get to some outfit ideas.

1 | With Slim Black Pants + Gold Heels

Top (M) | Pants (M) | Shoes | Bag (ooh or this)

Besides just grabbing some cute blue jeans, this was one of the first ways I styled this pretty shirt up. I can see this outfit going to brunch, to a baby or wedding shower or even a casual wedding. This would work for a variety of summer events or just dinner out.

I think it’s the boxy fit of the shirt that is fun here with the contrasting slim pants. Adding some shine in the shoes doesn’t hurt (feels like jewelry for the feet) and a denim bag is gonna be good all spring through summer and into the fall. My denim bag is sold out, but I love the combo with this Farm Rio top, so here are a few more options for ya:

2 | With Cargo Jeans + Platform Sandals

Top (M) | Jeans (8) | Sandals | Similar Bag

If you haven’t heard me or Amy rave about these jeans yet, I’m surprised haha. They are SO comfy, under $100 and a joy to wear. Seriously. These are what I put on after 3pm when I want to look cute but be able to enjoy eating dinner.

They have an inner waistband that is not only stretchy but supportive and structured. I’m doing a whole try-on of this brand soon! Fit is TTS and I love the flare with the boxy fun top. Don’t skimp on these Aerosoles Camera platform sandals, either. They are also some of the comfiest shoes I own that look cute, too!

3 | Over A Black Tank Dress

Top (M) | Dress (S) | Shoes | Bag

Shana mentioned wanting to see this top over a dress and I think it was a fab idea. I’m not an owner of many different styles, but it worked perfectly over this comfy stretchy tank dress from Beyond Yoga (a summer fav.)

Like the vest I often pop on top of this, it really jazzes up the dress and adds a whole new vibe to it.

4 | With Wide Leg Cuffed Jeans

Top (M) | Jeans (29) | Sandals

This was the first combo I put together and I love it for more casual days where you still want to wow with this fun piece. Check out my DIY cuffed jeans article here if you want to add your own cuff to jeans like I did. (no sewing!)

5 | With A White Denim Skirt

Top (M) | Similar Skirt | Similar Bag | Heels

I styled this skirt up last summer and thought it would be fun with this top and some tan heeled sandals (SUCH a versatile summer shoe btw). I love this combo. The skirt I’ve linked to (mine is long sold out) is actually an off-white denim and might blend even better with this top since it’s more off-white than true white.

I don’t mind the combo either way though! I also like pairing neutral accessories with it here to let the top really shine.
