A Bright Kids’ Capsule Wardrobe For Fall

Back to school is one of my favorite times of the year. This year is extra special because Greenlea is going into Kindergarten! I’m so excited for her, but I can’t believe she’s growing so fast at the same time. Time flies, you guys. I’ve loved putting together capsule wardrobes for the kiddos every year since G was a baby (omg that feels like yesterday).

Capsule wardrobes just make sense—they make everything from getting dressed in the morning to packing for a trip easier. This year I’m putting together a few different options because one-size-fits-all doesn’t really work for all kids (and also because my daughter is picky and all of a sudden has a very strong opinion on what she will and will not wear). This first capsule wardrobe is perfect for kids who aren’t into super-sparkly, bright colors. Lots of these pieces are more gender-neutral and come in a bunch of different colors. The best part is when I added everything in this wardrobe to my cart and applied all of the discounts, the total was UNDER $250—including tax and shipping. Old Navy is always changing up their discount codes, but they continue to have some great sales for back to school shopping.

With picky kids in mind, we're eyeing a bright girls' capsule wardrobe that's fun & not too sparkly. Yellow, leopard & neutrals. All heart eyes, right here.

  1. I love the kid capsules so much. They are my favorite. Keep them coming! I would love to see a kids capsule that is cute and includes a lot of good high quality outdoor play clothing. My daughter attends a waldorf school and they are outside all the time. How to look cute and be equipped for the outdoors–girls and boys. Also would love a gender non-conforming capsule for parents or kids who prefer to go gender neutral.

  2. I would love to see one for a toddler girl for fall/winter! Maybe with some helpful climate-based tips (for example, we’re in Central Texas, so hot AF most of the time, with a big ol’ slap of wet starting September)? I’m a FTM and trying to be minimalist so yeah. I’m obvi overplanning and overwhelmed hahaha.

  3. THANK YOU! My girlie also hits kindergarten this fall and I LIVE for these Old Navy capsule wardrobes each fall. They’re so fun (and easy) and a great start one-stop shop for back to school clothes (and fall travel).

  4. I’m an older mom—loved the dorm room inspo post for my older girl! But how about a capsule wardrobe for older teens—high school and college-aged girls?

  5. I second Kristine Cooper’s request! As a mom of 2 girls – middle school and high school aged, this would be wonderful!
