No need to worry if they’ll fit over your hips, show too much cleavage, or be way too hot and make you sweat profusely. Ahhhhhh…accessories! Pretty much my go-to answer to any styling question. Apparently what is NOT easy, though, is getting a good photo of me wearing one of my favorite accessories right now–asymmetrical earrings. My face is too wide to get a good shot of both earrings at once unless I suck in my cheeks and do a total Zoolander shot…which was rather ridiculous and didn’t communicate the whole “easy-to-wear-current-trend-thing.”
So…you’ll just have to trust me that I love them, have been wearing them a ton, and find them totally easy to pull off. You guys know I’m not super-edgy in my styling, but I also don’t love to do “boring”. I’ll often add a bold color (lip, bag or sunnies) to an otherwise blah outfit, but sometimes even I don’t feel like doing color. Like a true hero, that’s the moment asymmetrical earrings swoop in and save the day. I’ve been popping small ones on with my casual uniform to add the perfect amount of oomph, and have also worn them occasionally with conservative work outfits to add just a bit of interest. My favorite, though, is rocking really long bolder ones for date night. Easy-peasy and good year-round (added bonus!)
How To Rock Asymmetrical Earrings
Don’t overthink it. Pick from two good options:
1. Purchase asymmetrical earrings; put on ears; wear with everything to add edginess/style; increase size for increased statement power.
-or-
2. Go through your own earring stash, and mix and match with what you have. A trick that has worked for me is finding one common element in 2 different earrings—metal, shape, lines, overall feel. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the results!
