5 Cute Outfits With Sweatpants

0

I can’t stop wearing sweatpants.

As in with real, everyday, going-out outfits.

It’s not that I’m lazy (no, wait, I am lazy, but that’s not actually the reason for sweats here), but because I found sweatpants that I like more than…well…anything else in my closet. I had actually sworn off sweatpants some time ago because the classic jogger, the main option when it came to sweats, had become one of my least favorite silhouettes to wear.

But then the world of fashion went and made barrel sweatpants – and everything changed.

Abercrombie’s High Rise Sunday Barrel Sweatpants are a good ol’ true-to-size fit. A medium hugs my waist like a dream.

I went with the tall inseam for a little extra length (I’m 5’10”) and to have the option for a cute ankle cuff, but the regular inseam would have hit around my ankle and fit exactly as barrel style was originally intended to fit.

The barrel pants are made with a heavyweight fleece that is super soft and warming without overheating. Absolutely nothing changes when washed and dried (as someone who has washed & dried them more times than can count). There’s been zero pilling, zero shedding.

Styling Abercrombie’s Barrel Sweatpants 5 Ways

I’m not here to tell you there’s a magic formula in styling sweatpants. I’m not going to give you any sort of fluffy how-to. I’m simply going to show you 5 really cute outfits with my favorite sweatpants.

The trick?

These outfits were the first few things I threw on my body when I pulled on my Sunday Barrel Sweatpants the other day. I didn’t overthink, I didn’t over accessorize. I just picked from my favorite closet pieces and every outfit was ready to go.

The unique silhouette of barrel sweatpants as an everyday pant is the magic formula, in and of itself.

1 | Barrel Sweatpants With A Relaxed Cotton Sweater & Loafers

I love how a chic sweater instantly upgrades the look of a fleece sweatpant. It’s like a grown up sweat set. Adding a structured loafer always takes any outfit up a few notches, too.

2 | Abercrombie Sweatpants Styled With Polka Dots & Stripes

I love pattern mixing, and right now I’m pairing polka dots with just about anything.

My favorite has been a pretty little stripe peeking out of a polka dot jacket – which honestly, is so wonderfully eye-catching that it makes anyone oblivious to the fact that I’m still wearing sweatpants.

My polka dot jacket is sold out (from Zara) but this ivory version has a very similar vibe.

3 | Barrel Pants With An Oversized Button Down & Ballet Flats

I don’t think there’s any style of pants or bottoms that a ballet flat cannot elevate. Sweatpants and a soft, buttery flat have been my most worn, go-to pairing as of late (it’s just so comfortable!!).

4 | Sunday Barrel Sweatpants With A Cozy Fleece & Mary Janes

For when the winter chill hangs a little longer into the spring air: a fleece pullover is an easy pairing with barrel sweatpants.

5 | High Rise Barrel Pants With A Mockneck Sweatshirt & Sneakers

If there’s ever an outfit that looks too simple, maybe even too lazy, I throw a sweater over my shoulders. It’s like a scarf you can get away with in any season, adding visual interest wherever anything feels too flat.
