Meet The Mom Edit Team

Behind the scenes at The Mom Edit, we have a dedicated and talented crew based (mostly) in the vibrant city of Philadelphia. Alongside the leadership team, there’s a passionate group of creatives and data nerds who work together to bring our engaging articles and videos to life. With a passion for authenticity (and an attention to detail that extends to fact-checking and comma wrangling), our team is dedicated to delivering practical, inspiring content that hits that sweet spot of being both helpful and genuine.

Who We Are

The Mom Edit is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels empowered and celebrated. We value everyone’s unique journey, and understand the importance of expressing yourself authentically, both in style and in life.

We also try have a little fun — because life’s too short, no?

Shana's been helping moms (and non moms) to express their true, authentic style since 2008.

Shana Draugelis – Founder & CEO

Our ‘It Girl’ who never thinks of herself as one. Those things aren’t important to her (and she’s from the Midwest, so…polite). But how else would you describe someone whose style comes off as effortless and fresh, is always up for a challenge (heyyy, learning to ski in her 40s), plans Instagram-worthy trips that are both adventurous and family-friendly, uses real data to make decisions (engineering background), AND makes a mean…anything in a crock pot? THAT kind of ‘It Girl’. She’s also the reason we’re all here. Since 2008, she’s been helping moms (and non moms) to express their true, authentic style.

Gwen manages a team of 20+ “creative” types & a steady deluge of content with poise, grace, and the driest wit.

Gwen Wandalowski – COO

The Mom Edit wouldn’t be The Mom Edit without Gwen. She’s been at this, alongside Shana, from waaaay back when it was just the two of them at Shana’s kitchen table. She’s done every job along the way (editor, writer, social media, video, analytics, collaborations, SEO), and now manages a team of 20+ “creative” types and a steady deluge of content with poise, grace, and the driest wit. Make no mistake, though, our girl’s all business, has a keen eye for data and trends, and instinctively knows what content works (which she’ll then back up with…yup: more data).

Peter's our secret weapon & the most incredible co-worker. He has the ability to think big picture + strategy while simultaneously answering/fixing everyone’s tiny tech complaints with nary an eye roll.

Peter Hubner – CTO

Peter has been around, in one way or another, since the very beginning: he and S go way back to their Lockheed Martin missile warning days. His first role was Hero, rescuing Shana (and then Ain’t No Mom Jeans) from the clutches of Typepad, and has been TME Tech Support ever since. As The Mom Edit grew (thanks, in part to Peter’s care and feeding), better business insights and analytics were needed to take TME to the next level, and Peter came on-board full time. He’s now our secret weapon and the most incredible co-worker (basically, he’s everyone’s favorite), and has the ability to think big picture + strategy while simultaneously answering/fixing everyone’s tiny tech complaints with nary an eye roll.

ex is the one who’s keeping us ahead of the curve, whether in mapping out a content strategy that has us dropping content just at the moment you’re Googling for it, or branching us out into new channels/ media and letting us know what trends are giving.

Alexis Richardson – CIO (Chief Innovation Officer)

Voted most likely to win BIG on Jeopardy! Lex is the one who’s keeping us ahead of the curve, whether in mapping out a content strategy that has us dropping content just at the moment you’re Googling for it, or branching us out into new channels/ media and letting us know what trends are giving. If you sit in on any meeting, you’ll often hear the phrase, “Ok, so Lex was right…” Her approach? Deep research (think: data, analytics, and macroeconomics a la Marketplace) mixed with a healthy dose of astrology and charts (because, ya know — Mercury’s not the only planet that goes into retrograde).

Ang can talk strategy with the best of them, but — no stranger to startups — knows when it’s time to push up her sleeves & do the dirty work. Ang also seems to know freaking everyone, so someone you know probably knows her, too. ;)

Angela Stassi – CMO (Chief Marketing Officer)

While Ang is a born-and-bred New Yorker, she’s seen enough of the world to bring a global perspective to TME, as well as a wealth of experiences and keen understanding of consumer trends. She’s got a great sense for marketing, a quick wit, and manages to handle any and everything we throw at her (and we’ve thrown her A LOT). Ang can talk strategy with the best of them, but — no stranger to startups — knows when it’s time to push up her sleeves and do the dirty work. Ang also seems to know freaking everyone, so someone you know probably knows her, too. 😉

Our resident fashionista (a real one, with a degree to prove it), is most comfortable in powerful pants while wielding a piece of fabric & a sewing machine. She’s a whiz in Adobe anything, sets the direction of our visual identity.

Jeni Arnal – Collaborations Manager & Lead Graphic Designer

Our resident fashionista (a real one, with a degree to prove it), is most comfortable in powerful pants while wielding a piece of fabric and a sewing machine. But she’s equally as impressive keeping our editorial calendar moving and brand partnerships thriving. She’s a whiz in Adobe anything, sets the direction of our visual identity (from the exciting, broad brushstrokes of an idea to the last meticulous detail) and, iced coffee in hand, is ready to prove that scissors CAN be used as a weapon (long story).

Kat, our bougie babe & 100% ‘that girl’, keeps her finger on the pulse of all things video, as well as what’s trending now.

Katrina Tijerina – Video Content Manager & Editor

Kat, our bougie babe and 100% ‘that girl’, keeps her finger on the pulse of all things video, as well as what’s trending now. How can she do that? She’s a content creator herself with a strong social media following for her body positivity and fitness content. Kat wears two hats here at TME, both behind the scenes with managing our video content, and is a familiar face on the blog sharing luxe designer faves, the latest trending pieces, and brands that are doing inclusive sizing right. (Hey brands…we still need more of this, please!)

One of our OG editors, Laura’s style & vibe are unmistakably design-minded: edgy, casual + ever-so-slightly classic.

Laura Jansen – Editor

One of our OG editors, Laura’s style and vibe are unmistakably design-minded: edgy, casual + ever-so-slightly classic. She’s comfortable rocking high tops with blazers, but isn’t afraid of a leather midi skirt, either. A true experimenter, her artistic side comes through both in her styling and her sense of humor (read: lover of all films Wes Anderson). Undeniably Aquarius (and proud of it…k, thanks) her curious nature also keeps the conversations going on our weekly team Zooms.

In addition to writing for The Mom Edit, Scotti is also an accomplished makeup artist; natural & pretty bridal makeup was her specialty, but she can also throw down some bold looks with ease.

Scotti Oja – Editor

Someone once quipped that meeting Scotti was like meeting a real-life celebrity, and we concur. This is a girl whose Style Love Language is glam (but you’d never guess that — 98% of the time she’s working from home in a bathrobe, with hair and makeup fully done, of course). In addition to writing for The Mom Edit, Scotti is also an accomplished makeup artist; natural & pretty bridal makeup was her specialty, but she can also throw down some bold looks with ease. And while her style may be glam and makeup flawless, Scotti is decidedly unfussy, and manages to make the cutest everyday looks a *little* bit sexy.

Not only is it mesmerizing to watch Laurel dance, she’s — hands down — one of the best dance instructors out there. She has a gentle way of luring in beginners, & getting them up to speed in short order.

Laurel Card – Editor

Not only is it mesmerizing to watch Laurel dance, she’s — hands down — one of the best dance instructors out there. She has a gentle way of luring in beginners, and getting them up to speed in short order. But just because she starts out gentle doesn’t mean she can’t Debbie Allen your ass right up…“Fame costs..and right here is where you start paying. In sweat.”  She’s also a kid-, dog-, and snail-whisperer (she’s from Maine, IYKYK); has the most infectious laugh; and speaks Spanish much better (mucho mejor?) after a drink. 😉

Syd, a video game design major, is the one we turn to for her strong opinions (Is Call of Duty For Kids? Let’s discuss.), solid art supplies, and is — without question — one of the best Dungeon Masters we’ve seen in action.

Sydney Oswald – Video Production Editor

Syd’s superpower? If you ask her, she says her improv skills. If you ask us, it’s taking hours AND hours of video footage and turning them into engaging, helpful videos with a side of humor. Listen carefully, and you just might hear evil giggles as she throws in outtakes or cheeky graphics. Syd, a video game design major, is the one we turn to for her strong opinions (Is Call of Duty For Kids? Let’s discuss.), solid art supplies, and is — without question — one of the best Dungeon Masters we’ve seen in action (she’s so good S’s kids regard her as something of a celebrity). Her style was once described as, “somewhere between druidic bog witch and orc warlord” and obviously we’re 100% here for that.

Danielle — easily — wins the most helpful award in almost every category. While her background is Design & Merchandising, she has become the TME jack of all trades, working on our website design, infrastructure and graphic design, in addition to writing articles.

Danielle Calcavecchia – Editorial Staff

Danielle — easily — wins the most helpful award in almost every category. While her background is Design & Merchandising, she has become the TME jack of all trades, working on our website design, infrastructure and graphic design, in addition to writing articles. A lover of neutrals, she manages to come up with seriously cool outfits using basic wardrobe staples, is a whiz at distilling trends, and — thanks in part to her own style — is a natural at making practical outfits more interesting.

Incredibly creative and artistic, Abby is the one we turn to for absolutely jaw-dropping, stunning curation. She’s got a knack for finding hidden gems and has the ability to make any space beautiful, plus her own style is enviable.

Abby Rothwell – Editorial Staff

Incredibly creative and artistic, Abby is the one we turn to for absolutely jaw-dropping, stunning curation. She’s got a knack for finding hidden gems and has the ability to make any space beautiful, plus her own style is enviable. Abby is one of the few team members who is not afraid of color, so her contributions (both digitally and in real life) feel like a breath of fresh air. She manages to come up with options that are both wildly original…and exactly what we want to wear.

Aliya can hold down a conversation while simultaneously designing a graphic, publishing a story to IG, and writing a caption. She, too, was an intern from Drexel, & impressed us so much with her ability to quickly dive in & just ‘get it’ that we couldn’t wait to have her join us

Aliya McDonald – Social Media Coordinator

Aliya can hold down a conversation while simultaneously designing a graphic, publishing a story to IG, and writing a caption. She, too, was an intern from Drexel, and impressed us so much with her ability to quickly dive in and just ‘get it’ that we couldn’t wait to have her join us when she graduated. She’s an avid thrifter (often rocking her grandmother’s clothes), her family’s archivist (possibly one of the few Gen Z’ers managing her family’s Facebook page?) and the unofficial style consultant to her mom and her mom’s friends.

A welcome addition to our growing SEO & Copy Editing team, Abby has a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful, strategic mindset; she excels at ensuring that our content is not only crisp & well-timed, but also reaches the right audience — she’s the SEO version of a triple threat!

Abby Creel – SEO Specialist & Copy Editor

A welcome addition to our growing SEO & Copy Editing team, Abby has a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful, strategic mindset; she excels at ensuring that our content is not only crisp and well-timed, but also reaches the right audience — she’s the SEO version of a triple threat! Abby loves her dog, and has no problem keeping us honest about our out-of-control-hypen-use.

As the newest member of our Graphic Design department, Grace dedicates her time to projects that span all of TME’s channels. From collage posts on the blog to our prettiest Pinterest pins (& even our curated newsletter content), Grace has a hand in keeping it all moving seamlessly.

Grace Negron – Graphic Designer

As the newest member of our Graphic Design department, Grace dedicates her time to projects that span all of TME’s channels. From collage posts on the blog to our prettiest Pinterest pins (and even our curated newsletter content), Grace has a hand in keeping it all moving seamlessly. Thanks to her background in Visual Communications, she brings thoughtful insights and a fresh perspective to our ever-evolving content strategies (with the occasional funny meme or GIF thrown in for good measure).

Connor is one of the video editors here at The Mom Edit. They went to college for Vocal Performance, but this little editing hobby of theirs turned into a passion and voilà!

Connor Riley – Video Editor

Connor is one of the video editors here at The Mom Edit. They went to college for Vocal Performance (and wow — Con’s opera performance seriously blew us away), but this little editing hobby of theirs turned into a passion and voilà! Here they are, bringing The Mom Edit video to life (with much-needed little touches of humor). Con has three cats they treat like children, and when not at work they’re either binge-watching The Great, hanging with friends, or writing fiction.

It’s always fun to get a slack in the #seo channel from Lily because you never know what kind of search trend she’s going to unearth and share (Marcus Aurelius Stoicism whaaa?!?) She too has made an impact on our small, but mighty SEO team by connecting dots & offering up ways to next level our content.

Lily Kind – SEO Copy Editor

It’s always fun to get a slack in the #seo channel from Lily because you never know what kind of search trend she’s going to unearth and share (Marcus Aurelius Stoicism whaaa?!?) She too has made an impact on our small, but mighty SEO team by connecting dots and offering up ways to next level our content. If she didn’t spend most of her life as a critically acclaimed choreographer, dancer, producer + writer…we’d scoop her up full time!
