I literally just put the finishing touches on my 12 Most Worn Pieces Of Winter post and was still ALL about the warm coziness of cashmere sweaters when — BAM! — we had a fabulously sunny and unseasonably warm Tuesday. The sun of course sent me STRAIGHT into spring mode, and I felt the overwhelmingly pressing need to immediately search for spring clothing. I knew Madewell’s spring line was in, so I rationalized my afternoon of shopping by taking selfies in case anyone else is feeling the spring clothing itch too.

**Madewell Insiders Sale Started and EVERYTHING I tried on is included**

A few notes before we get started with the selfies:

  1. I wish I would have brought clogs with me. A lot of the pieces below would look super-cute with these (which are also part of Madewell’s Insider Sale).
  2. I am NOT a blazer gal–way too restricting and conservative for me–but this one came home with me anyway. The selfies definitely do not do it justice. Once those horrific just-out-of-the-box wrinkles are steamed out, it’s quite a fantastic piece. Soft, comfortable, lightweight and the oversized fit adds a cool, but polished vibe for spring.
  3. I tried hard to love these orange pants because I wanted to add some color, and I love the “IDEA” of wearing orange pants, but I couldn’t figure out how to make them work. They just looked bad. And sad. With everything. Let me know if you have suggestions.

All The Spring Feels: Tops, Blouses & Sweaters At Madewell

1. A Lightweight Striped Sweatshirt

This sweatshirt is great under your puffer right now (I actually included it as an example of a striped top for winter), or later uncovered with cropped jeans and sneaks. Navy and white stripes with denim and white sneaks TOTALLY makes me feel like spring. This one is thin enough that you can easily do a half-tuck, but looks good untucked as well. It’s comfortable, but I do wish it was a tiny bit softer…I like my sweatshirts (even in spring) super cozy.

2. A Pretty Prairie Top

YES! This totally says spring spring spring! This came home with me, and I’m going to wear it this weekend even if it’s freezing because it makes me happy. It’s super-soft, you feel pretty the instant you put it on, and I think it would look great dressed up for work with trouser pants.

3. A Cool Tie-Dye Sweater

Another top that screams ‘I am READY for spring!’. This sweater is soft and comfy, but light enough that you could definitely wear it even on warmer spring days. I picture throwing this on for every playground excursion.

4. A Fresh White Tee

Come on guys…nothing much better for a wardrobe update than a fresh white tee. My old white tees are fine, and I will continue wearing them, but spring ALWAYS makes me want a new fresh one. One of my spring and summer workhorses for sure. This cut is long enough for a half-tuck and my belly didn’t show when I raised my arms, but it still has a current shorter boxier look to it.

5. An Open Stitch Sweater

I knew I was going to love this sweater, so of course…I didn’t. It’s soft and cozy, and the weight and open stitch would be great for many spring days, (and I know I’m getting super-picky here) BUT, I didn’t love the collar. It just wasn’t quite right for me. Also, I liked the proportions with the stovepipe denim, but not with my fav cali-demis or the wide-leg denim.

6. A Feminine Floral Silk Blouse

I love this blouse. It was another one (like the Prairie Blouse) that I felt pretty in as soon as I put it on. It’s a little lower cut than what I would usually wear, but I heard Shana’s voice in my head saying “Live a little, Linzi!” I ended up sizing down, since I will likely wear it with paperbag waist pants or tucked into high-waist denim and wanted it to look more fitted and less blousy.

I’m not shopping spring dresses and skirts quite yet, but I’m tempted…that SUN, you guys! That glorious SUN! Remind me…how many more days until I can put away that puffer?

    • Oh thanks Heather– I think you’re right…shorter would definitely help. They were also fairly snug in the hips, so maybe if I sized up but got the waist taken in that would help too.
