Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: Our Editors’ Top Picks

3

Oh hey, October Amazon Prime Day. So happy to see you here! Is it just us, or did this sale take you by (happy) surprise, too? As soon as we heard the news, we did a little predictions post (many of them spot-on!). Now that the sale is officially live, we’ve taken a long hard look at this round of Prime Big Deal Days (happening today, 10/8 and tomorrow, 10/9) and we’re loving what we’re seeing.

Of course, there are the usual suspects we always stock up on: the best body wash that smells like a spa; this market tote that makes the best gift (just add flowers); and who knew our most-loved Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm was on Amazon? (Linzi did, that’s who).

The Best of Amazon October Prime Big Deal Days

But there are a few new and delightfully random finds, too: like this stunning JW Pei bag — Jess owns it and can attest!

And if you’ve yet to take the plunge on a Dyson hairdryer, it’s a team favorite for a reason. Even those with lots of gorgeous curls. So snag it on sale!! Our editors have plenty more finds from Prime Big Deal Days, below. Happy Prime-Daying!

Amazon Prime Day Deals: beauty, skincare and decor.

ONE: This set of flameless candles is similar to the set I’ve been using, but comes with a remote so I don’t have to run around each night, tightening the base to get them to turn on properly. And I love the clear base – it feels like a fresh twist on the classic. These are 40% off, and have over 700 5-star ratings. This is my favorite way to decorate for the holidays, and we leave them up alllll winter long.

TWO: I’m giddy because my entire beauty routine is on sale! If you do nothing else, these are my top four products:

  • Ursa Major’s Mountain Glow Golden Serum (28% off) – nothing short of transformative, I use this day and night.
  • Dr Haschuka Eye Balm (24% off) – it’s thick, oily and has to be softened…but goes on almost like spackle (think: dry wall, haha) and once patted into place my eyes are visibly improved. As you might imagine, it’s not great under makeup, I mostly use this one at night.
  • Farmacy’s Clearly Clean cleanser (29% off) – better at removing stubborn eye makeup than Colleen Rothschild (but doesn’t smell nearly as good or feel like a spa experience). That said, it leaves my skin feel clean and smooth, not tight.
  • Sara Happ Lip Slip (20% off) – there’s literally nothing better for lips! Fight me on this, but dry lips will literally disappear with use, even in really arid climates. It’s kind of a miracle.

Oof – it’s a ton of stuff, gang. In my defense, I’m out of basically everything right now, and have been waiting for a sale to restock. I’m just happy I don’t have to wait for Black Friday. 🙂

ONE: This little snack caddy is the best thing I’ve gotten from Amazon this year. I’ve already gifted it a couple of times, too. It’s perfect for picnics, road trips, soccer Saturdays, anything where you want to bring multiple snacks ready for snacking. You can also use it to bring a charcuterie or treats to a party, too. The trays come out for easy washing or swapping out and the top handles click down for flat storage. It’s so good.

TWO: This Salt & Stone body wash is the BEST smelling wash I’ve ever used. I also have the deodorant which smells just as lovely. It smells expensive but in a rich, woody-subtley-floral way, not in a perfume-y way. Gosh I could just bathe in it…oh wait, I do.

THREE: I’ve gifted a market bag like this multiple times, too! This one is a major steal, as well. The style is the same as mine I gift (which is currently out of stock) and I love it for visiting the winery or going on weekend trips where you’re taking multiple bottles and don’t want them clanging together. It holds snacks, coffee and other dry goods in the center. It’s also, of course, perfect for the farmer’s market to hold veggies and flowers, etc. Comes in black and grey, as well.

ONE: I’ve tried countless hair dryers over the years, but nothing compares to this Dyson. It transformed my dry, over-processed, frizzy hair into healthy, smooth locks—in SO much less time than others! If you’re looking for a game-changing upgrade, this is it. (Walmart has a refurbished one for even less!)

TWO: This 23andMe DNA kit is literally the gift that keeps on giving. I bought it for myself last fall and love the addition of health traits and genetic reports to the standard ancestry information. As more and more people use these kits, they get even more accurate…and I love the health reports that come directly to my inbox throughout the year! If you’re looking for a gift for someone who is notoriously hard to shop for–this.

THREE: We just bought this mirror for the new house and it’s absolutely beautiful–and makes any room look more elegant. There’s a ton of sizes to choose from and in black, silver or gold finishes, either round or squared edges. It was shipped in very secure packaging and was sturdy from the moment we set it up.

ONE: My Kindle Paperwhite is one of my absolute MOST essential items. It goes with me practically everywhere and it is so durable (I do not go easy on it, that’s for sure). This option comes with a charger and a sturdy fabric covering. It’s over 30% off during Prime Day.

TWO: JW Pei’s Jana Hollow Out Shoulder Bag I just got this bag and IRL it is absolutely STUNNING. The quality is outstanding as well. JW Pei has quickly become my favorite non-designer bag brands. They have the coolest styles and they are affordably priced. I ordered a whole bunch of them, was impressed with them all. But this one was my favorite.

THREE: IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream A deal so good on my all-time favorite full coverage foundations that I definitely just bought this at Amazon. I’ve been using this for years and years and it has never left me down. I just restocked but I have zero doubt I’ll go through it. It’s always sold out at Nordstrom plus it’s 30% off for Prime Day!

ONE:  I panic when I’m almost out of this all-time fav cleansing balm from Colleen Rothschild. The scent and feel is wildly luxurious, but it also just does its job really well and is a fabulous hydrating cleanser.  An AMAZING $50-ish holiday gift.

TWO: I may be SO passionately in love with the Dyson V15 Vacuum that I took it on vacation. Shana visited and was all, “did you seriously bring your vacuum with you on vacation?”  Yep…it’s that good. The V15 model has this amazing green light that illuminates invisible dust as you’re vacuuming it up (ridiculously gratifying!) My exact V15 Absolute (just a smidge different from the V15 at Amazon and has one additional feature) is on sale at Walmart as well as directly at Dyson too.

THREE:  I have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t pick up this Perplexus 3D Ball Maze when they see it at our house and immediately start playing.  A great $20-ish gift that gets used plenty by grown-ups too.

ONE: My favorite self tanner that actually makes my paler than pale skin look amazing. It has olive undertones so there’s zero orange factor going on – and even though it’s a “wash-off” I still rock it for a full day or so until I shower next (anything that gets on clothes washes off perfectly!).

TWO: I’ve had these jeans for years and they’re still a favorite style – the cropped straight leg is just so classic and works so well with All.The.Shoes. 3 colors are included in the sale!

THREE: My fave layering tank – I own multiple colors and throw them on with just about everything.

  1. Be aware that 23 and Me is facing bankruptcy and it’s unclear what would happen to DNA data. I’m having them delete mine

  2. Regarding 23andMe, the company is not doing well and is probably going to sell its assets in the near future. Its biggest asset is your personal data and your literal genetic profile. So…buyer beware on that gift idea.
