Hey, Lovelies! I’ve been off for a few weeks, and OMG, jumping in during the 2108 Anniversary NSale is no joke. You better believe I’ve been learning from my TME team and all of you, but I was still a bit relieved when Shana challenged me to find 10 pieces I love and show you a few ways to style them. This is right up my alley because 90% of my wardrobe needs to be ready to slay at work or play. Little did I know, my store’s selection wasn’t that great, but it worked out because I ended up styling some outfits that I wouldn’t have been on my radar, which always seems to lead to some of the best looks! Honestly, it’s what happens most days in my closet anyway…I throw a few things together and make magic.
So, that’s my focus for my Anniversary Sale coverage: A capsule wardrobe with pieces you can switch and swap to your heart’s content. ARE. YOU. REEEEAAADDDYYY (please say “YAAAASSS!”)? *Disclaimer: We all know items sell out like hotcakes, so I don’t have to tell you twice to jump on whatever floats your boat, and be sure to buy both sizes, if you’re in between. Let’s do this, babe.

Dress for the Job you Want
I really wanted dresses with cool prints (surprise, surprise), but these solid dresses are probably closer to what my wardrobe actually needs. I was happy to find a body-con dress and shift dress, as those are my fave silhouettes. As different as they are, you can style them with some of the same pieces and it just works!
I’m wearing a large in the body-con dress, which was perfect. I’d wear alone for a date night look. The description says “mini dress,” but it’s definitely a midi dress on me, and more “midi” than “mini” on the model, too. It’s a thinner knit (but not sheer), so you won’t be sweating in it like a cable knit sweater dress.
These booties are so comfortable and the perfect heel height for all the walking my husband I usually do on dates. They’re TTS. Keep scrolling for how I’d style for work.
Yep, it’s really that simple. Don’t count out a dress/skirt because it’s a body-con silhouette. Throw on a this blazer for a polished daytime look. I’m wearing size M, it’s TTS.
Here’s one more, so you can see the options are endless! I loved the color of this trench, but really wish it were belted.
Purple is my favorite color, but it can be a bit harsh to wear and style. But, eggplant? Oh, eggplant is what fall style dreams are made of! This shift dress got the memo and is ready for work or play. I would wear it alone for special events because, have you seen the back detail? Keep scrolling for a workwear option.
I think a drapey-er trench or sleeveless trench would work better for indoor wear (i.e. I’m not taking my jacket off, this is my outfit), but hey, this is what I grabbed and I love it. Especially the tonal blush/eggplant colorblocking effect. I was starting to feel like I had too much black in the capsule, but this trench coat takes care of that.
Suited and Booted
Y’all, this power suit had me we feeling right! I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve worn a suit, but I’m a firm believer that you need to have one in your closet ready to go at all times. I found the blazer first and tried it on at that very moment because I couldn’t wait to get it to the fitting room. I wasn’t expecting it to be fully lined…did I mention how good it feels? I also love the pop of the cobalt blue with an otherwise classic plaid; so chic! It’s TTS (M). They only had an 8 in the slacks, so that’s what I tried, but I ordered a 10. They look great with or without the blazer.
Casual Friday-Ready Denim
I know the deal, you want to let your hair down a little on Friday, but still want look professional AND you don’t want to bother changing before happy hour. This look gets it. The sweater has removable sleeves, so you can wear as a shell during the warmer, transitional fall days. It was really easy to zip on and off and I kinda love the peek of the zipper, even when the sleeves are on. It’s so unexpected and cool, I had to keep it! Aaaand, I kept the skinny jeans, too, and not just because I had to size down to an 8, LOL! They’re so soft and comfortable, but the hem sold me. It’s a split hem with a super cool grommet/lace detail. Together, this outfit is just enough to be professionally polished.
You guys, IDK what I did right in my life to deserve trying on this cashmere sweater, but OMG, it’s friggin’ amazing. A sales associate picked this for me and it’s literally one of two sweaters I found that I liked. I was surprised at how much I loved it. I wasn’t sure about the color palette, but it was sure about me! I also loved the cocoon silhouette and the mock neck. I did a little half tuck, but you’ll see it styled with a skirt below; it’d also be a good length for leggings.
The high-waist jeans were a perfect fit, but the leg was a tad too wide for my preference. Looking back through the pics, I like how they looked with everything, but I wouldn’t see myself choosing them from my closet often.
If you’re not quite ready for the cashmere Vince sweater, try this open cardigan. It’s super soft, so it would be great over a cami.
So, these Paige jeans may have been a tad long for sneaks, but I kinda like them rolled. In other news, get your peach emojis ready and peep the booty. Not bad at all! I don’t think I’ve talked about the sneakers yet. I really love the faded, metallic camo. It’s the perfect combination of things I love, but it’s not too sparkly and over the top.
Skirting the Issue
Is anyone else shocked that this is a crop top? This is one of the pieces I wouldn’t have picked otherwise that I ended up liking. It’s so perfect with this skirt, and still works with the high-waist jeans above. I’m obsessed with the color of this skirt. I’m wearing a size down because mine was sold out, but I think my usual 10 would be perfect. Have I mentioned the booties yet? I’m always on the hunt for the perfect dressy-casual black bootie, and I think I’ve found it. The heel isn’t too high, and the toe isn’t too pointy; those are my usual issues. And the leather is super soft, yall! They’re very comfortable.
OK, here’s a knit midi skirt in a true royal purple, and I love it styled with the blazer. I think it would be perfect with a pretty bralette or black tank. I didn’t have either, so this pose is my best attempt at keeping this a family website. The skirt is super soft and comfortable. I could definitely see it working with cocoon sweaters or a t-shirt with a denim jacket.
A Leggings Up on the Competition
I grabbed the last size in these ponte leggings (M), even though I was kinda nervous about them. We all know how disrespectful leggings can be. I liked how supportive these felt and that they were a good, thick weight to wear to work. Looks like I forget to style these with more pieces, but seriously, they’re leggings, I know you got this! I haven’t said much about the striped tee because it’s super sold out, but I’ve still linked it, in case it’s restocked. I loved how soft it is and it was nice and lightweight for fall layering.
A Rock Mom Approved Moto Jacket
You guys, I’m obsessed with this moto jacket. I didn’t buy it because I already have two black moto jackets, but I’m having an internal struggle about it as we speak, and may end up buying this one. See, neither of mine have the quilted sleeves, which is what I really love about this one. Ugh, decisions, decisions.
So, I really wanted to love this strappy jumpsuit, but it was kind of a wardrobe malfunction. The funny thing is, I kept pinching the straps together, thinking it would fit and look much better on me. Well, fast forward to when I got home later in the evening and saw that’s how it was supposed to go. I kinda wanna try it again with the straps how they’re supposed to go. I really like the hard and soft look. Anyway, let me know if you check it out, it’s such a good steal at about $40, if you can get it to work.
Athleisure is my Love Language
My unofficial definition of “athleisure” is dressing up casual/workout wear or dressing down anything else with sneakers. Baby, listen, a cashmere sweater with a pencil skirt may be life goals. Just putting it out there. And, I’m a life-long lover of pencil skirts, so I’m always going advocate for having one in your closet. This one is a good start.
Listen, every now and then I have to style an outfit that will make Beyonce proud. I found a cropped hoodie (whaaaa?!) with the most amazing sleeves by her Ivy Park line and styled it with the knit pencil skirt. See, I told ya…so versatile. It looks nothing like the daytime work look I put together. And, I’m pretty sure the hoodie would be equally awesome with the black high-rise skinny jeans.
Beyonce made me do it! Someone please show her I’m living my best life wearing her Ivy Park sports bra as a top. Maybe I’ll wear this to the concert next month! At any rate, I feel really cool and so comfortable, even though I’m showing a smidge of midriff. Listen, don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t wear at your size. I’m clearly not here for that.
