This might be hard to believe, but up until this month, I owned exactly one item from Athleta. Is that not just bonkers? For as much as the team raaaaaves about the brand — heck, for as much as everyone I know raves about the brand — I’ve filled my cart up time and time again…and then never…actually…checked out?
It should be noted: the one item I did already own, a gift from my mom, is a very cool, high-slit maxi dress/miniskirt hybrid thing that I’ve worn for everything from concerts in Las Vegas to hiking in Hong Kong, so I knew Athleta was clearly onto something when it comes to active pieces that wear like real clothes, but hot dang.
I now fully get the hype.
5 Gorgeous Athleta Must-Haves For On And Off The Trail

bra (small A-C) | pants (2) | bag (new colors)
Everything I’m wearing here is going to be in extremely frequent rotation when the school year starts and I need pieces that can go from drop-off straight into working out (or working from home). But until then, they’ve been just as perfect for running with the dog or romping around the woods with the kiddos as they have been for cruising the farmer’s market and adventuring to the city with the girls.
In short, these five pieces are performance driven, to be sure. But they’re also cute, and between Athleta’s thoughtful details, ideal fit and gorgeous colors, I’ll take just about any excuse to wear them.

Digging into the details of each of these pieces below, but if you want just one hero piece up front?
The Trekkie High Rise Pants are some of the coolest I’ve ever worn. Parachute-y without being too swishy, with smart details like zippered cuffs, stash pockets and a flattering rise. And that frilly, paperbag waistband is downright pretty.
Ok, let’s go.
1. Essential Tank

tank (XS)
Aptly named, this Essential Tank is truly as good as a white tank gets. (Happily, it’s available in nine other colors, too.) It’s cut beautifully, hitting right at the hip and falling away from the body just enough. I love the seam detail running the length of the back, too. And it’s subtly stretchy and so soft. Wearing an XS.
2. Salutation Stash High Rise 7/8 Legging

Athleta’s Salutation leggings have an almost cult-like following, so I was anxious to get my hands on a pair, and I’m sold, guys. I understand.
These Salutation Stash 7/8 Leggings are compressive and supportive without riding all up in your business. They’re also thinner and more “second skin” than I was expecting — in the best way. Super buttery, too. And the colors! So many to choose from, I just want to collect them all.

The pockets are great, too. Just deep enough to securely hold a phone or airpods without adding awkward bulk too far down your thigh. They’ve already become one of my most reached for pairs of leggings. I’m typically between an XS-S and went with an XS in these after reading reviews.
3. Train Free Bra
bra (small A-C) | leggings (XS)
I’m a total sucker for a bra with pretty straps, and this Train Free Bra might just have the prettiest of all I own. And while I thought I’d have to fuss over the way the straps lay, everything stayed put without any maintenance.
It’s hard to tell from the photos, but there’s a supportive seam that wraps from the front up the sides, too, so it’s more than just a flat front sports bra. And it’s available in 10 colors and two cup ranges (I’m a 34C and am wearing a size Small A-C).
4. Trekkie High Rise Pant

bra (small A-C) | pants (2) | bag (new colors!)
One my greatest joys as both a consumer and a general wearer of things is finding active pants that are equally as exciting — if not moreso — when worn for non-active pursuits. No, really. This is the stuff that gets my heart racing. That elicits a little squeee from me when I pull them onto my body and they are exactly as good as I had hoped.
These Trekkie High Rise Pants tickle that fancy in a big way.

The cinchable paper bag waist is frilly in an almost elegant way, the slash pockets are deep but easy to quickly access, there’s both an open pocket and a secure pocket on the bum, and there are zippered vents at the cuffs for air flow (but, let’s be real, they also add some utilitarian coolness). And they’re genuinely high-waisted! Which somehow elevates things (ha, no pun) even further.
As such, these would be excellent pants for travel. Perfect for hiking or urban trekking but with a little white tank or an oversized linen something or other, they’d be easy, beezy, chic. I’m usually a 2/25 in pants, and the 2 here fits true to size.
5. Excursion Crossbody Belt Bag

This Excursion Crossbody Belt Bag is absurdly well-designed. It’s ideally sized — not too small nor too large — with high quality ripstop fabric, interior organization pockets, slick O-rings that dress it up juuuust enough and a padded, mesh-paneled back (with a concealed stash pocket, perfect for a phone) that keeps it cool and breathable when it’s slung across your chest.

It’s not pictured here, but you can also easily attach a big ol’ handled water bottle (you know the one) to it with a little carabiner clip, too. And I love the little top handle, which makes it surprisingly easy to reposition but it’s also just kinda cute when you hold it like it’s a tiny bag. My color just went out of stock, but the brand new hues are gorgeousssssss. I kinda want to get the Scout color for Lana’s troop’s cookie sales next year. Under $30 for a limited time only, Athleta’s Flash Sale ends 7/22!
Drop more of your Athleta faves, if you’ve got ’em, friends. I’m hooked.

Em
Thank you so much to Athleta for sponsoring this post.
