My Complete Anti-Aging Skincare Routine: Morning & Night

I’ve been using Colleen Rothschild’s skincare products for years, now. In fact, I started using her Radiant Cleansing Balm back in 2015. That one facial cleansing product got me totally hooked, and in the seven years (OMG) since then, my routine has slowly but surely evolved to use her products almost exclusively. The main reason being? They work

Colleen Rothschild Skincare Products Are Essential To My Beauty Routine

As much as I complain about aging, I often get compliments on my skin. Taking care of my skin is a HUGE priority (aging will do that...I wish I started a daily skincare routine sooner!)

As much as I complain about aging, I do often get compliments on my skin. I can attribute a lot of that to using Colleen Rothschild products. I went from sometimes maybe washing my face before bed in my 20s to doing a full and complete AM and PM skincare routine every single day now that I’m in my 40s.

Taking care of my skin has definitely become a priority (aging will do that…I only wish I started it years earlier!) and her products make it easy. And ps. Colleen’s Friends & Family Sale is happening now! Use code FAMILY for 25% off site wide.

My 3-Step Morning Skincare Routine

As much as I complain about aging, I often get compliments on my skin. Taking care of my skin is a HUGE priority (aging will do that...I wish I started a daily skincare routine sooner!)

Vitamin C Treatment | Complete Eye Cream | Sheer Renewal Cream

1. Vitamin C Treatment Complex

I’ve heard that the number one thing you can do for aging skin is add Vitamin C to your regimen. I like this Vitamin C treatment formula because it really brightens up my complexion and doesn’t dry out my skin with continued use (I’ve had that problem with some Vitamin C products in the past). This complex fights discoloration and sunspots (hyperpigmentation) and defends against environmental aggressors like stress and pollution. It’s my first step after cleansing my skin.

2. Complete Eye Cream

I love this eye cream. It hydrates the delicate, thin skin under my eyes without leaving a greasy feel (so I can layer concealer on top without it sliding or creasing). Puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles around my eyes are all diminished after I use this regularly. (*One great tip is to dab any excess product around lips for help with fine lines there.)

3. Sheer Renewal Cream

Colleen Rothschild Sheer Renewal Cream is a great lightweight daily moisturizer that works especially well under makeup because of its powder finish. It absorbs into skin without leaving a shiny finish and hydrates without a heavy, greasy feel. (This stuff is great for oil-prone skin.) *Guys can use it after shaving to soothe their skin without that “dewy finish” some moisturizers create.

My 3-Step Nighttime Skincare Routine (Retinol OR Glycolic Acid)

I found out recently that you’re not supposed to use glycolic acid and retinol at the same time. So while my final step at night is to slather the Extreme Recovery Cream over my face and neck, the first two steps alternate between using her Retinol Supreme serums or her Glycolic Acid Peel Pads after cleansing. (The Radiant Cleansing Balm is the best for a relaxing and luxurious way to wash your face at night!)

Retinol Supreme Eye Serum | Retinol Supreme Night Oil | Glycolic Peel Pads | Age Renewal Super Serum

1. Retinol Supreme Eye Serum

I’ve been using the Retinol Eye Serum and Retinol Supreme Night Oil for over a year now, and now they’re two products I won’t go without. I haven’t been able to get Botox in a loooong time (hello, facial paralysis) but this stuff has helped my crows feet and under-eye area (puffiness/dark circles/crepey skin) so much. I even go without concealer once in a while — something that my 35-year-old self would have gasped at. Oh, and this product has an updated applicator that I LOVE: it cools the skin on contact and feels amazing after a long day. (And like the Complete Eye Cream, the excess can be used around lips!)

2. Retinol Supreme Night Oil

The Retinol Supreme Night Oil makes my skin glow and helps with overall texture. The retinol boosts skin’s repair process (to help overturn cells — newer cells means younger-looking skin) while the Vitamin C brightens and evens skin tone (helps fight age spots and dullness). Not only does it help to hydrate skin but it’s also effective at balancing oily skin. So this product is for everyone, year-round. I put two drops on at night after cleansing and before moisturizing.

…OR Another Option For Steps 1 & 2

1. Glycolic Acid Peel Pads With Blue Agave

On nights when I’m not using the retinols above (usually 2-3 times a week) I use the Glycolic Acid Peel Pads with Blue Agave as the first step after cleansing. These pads help “dissolve skin-clogging dirt, debris and sebum” but, unlike a lot of harsh pads I’ve used in the past, they don’t irritate skin. (Although there’s a slight tingling feeling that goes away after a minute or two!) They deep clean, hydrate and exfoliate for brighter, smoother skin.

2. Age Renewal Super Serum

On nights when I use the Glycolic Acid Pads, I follow up with the Age Renewal Super Serum. This serum fights six signs of aging: texture, dehydration, elasticity, fine lines, radiance and tone. Basically, it helps with skin that is starting to get saggy and wrinkly (raises hand). This one can be used under moisturizers morning and/or night, and can also be mixed with them to boost overall benefits. (I sometimes use this one in the morning instead of the Vitamin C Treatment Complex when my skin is extra dry (usually in the winter).)

3. Extreme Recovery Cream

The Extreme Recovery Cream was one of the first products I tried from Colleen Rothschild’s skincare line and it’s one I’ve recommended to just about everyone (my mom loves it just as much as I do). This cream hydrates like you would not believe and soothes dry, irritated skin. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid for intense moisturizing and skin-plumping, and it feels amazing on skin. It’s my go-to for a night cream and the only lotion I’ll use on the kids’ faces because it won’t aggravate their skin.

Any Time (Morning or Night): Face Oil No9

When my skin is super-dry or irritated or just in need of some extra hydration, Face Oil No9 is a lifesaver. It’s a definite can’t-live-without in the winter, but I use it year-round. I’ll sometimes layer it under my Extreme Recovery Cream or mix a little in with my Sheer Renewal Cream depending on how dry my skin is. It goes on smoothly and absorbs completely within a few minutes for extra-hydrated — but not greasy — skin. (I rub any excess into my hands and on my cuticles and love the way they feel after!)

  1. I would love a Colleen Rothschild vs Biossance post- even product by product. Like which has the best face wash? Best Vitamin C serum? Best eye cream? Best anti-aging? Best moisturizer? Best suncsreen? Etc.

  2. Unrelated, but can you please talk about your hair here? I love how it’s neatly pulled back without being tight or slick. I think mine is a similar length (shoulder length?), and I struggle to make a tidy low bun. We need details!

  3. I absolutely love CR products after I started using them based on TME recommendations almost 2 years ago. I have tried almost everything… including shampoo, conditioner, etc…. that’s how much I love this brand. I’m convinced that they’re all helping my 48-yr-old self continue to look as good as I can. I genuinely have used all the products Scotti mentioned. My go-tos are: Face Oil 9, Retinol Oil. Eye cream (either retinols or the other eye cream). Cleansing balm and the cleansing gel. Extreme Recovery Cream. I have not strayed after 2 years and I’m usually one who tries everything. CR works!
