How To Get Frizz-Free Waves With A Flat Iron

The ghd Platinum+ 1-inch styler is definitely my favorite way to straighten hair (check out that tutorial here), but I also love using it to make waves. Because the plates smooth the entire cuticle shaft while making the waves, my hair looks less frizzy than when I use a curling iron — and the style lasts longer too. There’s a short learning curve, but with a bit of practice, it’s super-easy to create waves and texture with this styler.

Flat Iron Hacks: How To Curl Your Hair With A ghd Platinum+ Straightener

The ghd Platinum+ styler works in one pass (meaning less breakage), but a heat-protectant spray is always key anytime you’re using heat to style hair. My favorite is Living Proof’s Humidity Shield from its No Frizz line (I LOVE that line) because it protects hair from heat and UV rays without weighing it down or feeling greasy. As far as frizz goes, this stuff prevents it better than any other cream/lotion/serum I’ve tried. It’s also safe for colored or chemically-treated hair and formulated without silicone.

Here’s how I get my waves:
