Biossance X The Mom Edit: Our Favorite Products (And a Special Discount)

Gang, I’m a huge Biossance fan. My love affair started with their Lactic Acid Resurfacing Serum. “It has a strange smell and tingles for a few seconds going on but the results are so good I DON’T EVEN CARE,” I first wrote. And it’s true. I now use that serum religiously, at least 2-3 times per week, and love waking up with glowing skin.

Since then, I’ve slowly added a few more Biossance products into my repertoire, and have settled on a small fleet of favorites that have transformed my skincare regime. So when Biossance reached out and asked if we wanted to work together…it was an easy yes.

Another easy yes? Biossance is having their biggest sale of the year: All of my favorites are 30% off until 12/4 (no code needed). And there is even a special Mom Edit bundle, called Candlelit Glow, that contains the three products I swear by for glowing skin…everywhere. Purchasing the bundle results in a savings of 35% off the regular prices, but is only available until December 25th. And in honor of Giving Tuesday, Biossance is donating 50% of all proceeds from products sold today (12/1) to Oceana and their mission to keep our seas healthy.

Biossance Squalane: Clean Beauty I Truly Recommend

If you are new to the brand, Biossance is a clean beauty brand. They focus specifically on “clean synthetics” — ingredients which are often safer and more effective than natural ingredients on their own (and sometimes more sustainable, too). As one example, most of my Biossance favorites feature Squalane as a key ingredient. Squalene is a substance we produce naturally, but our ability to produce it (or retain what we have) decreases with age. Traditionally, Squalane in beauty products is harvested from shark livers (with a terrible environmental cost), but Biossance has figured out a way to derive their Squalane sustainably, from sugarcane.

Happily for us, plant-derived Squalane is one heck of a mega-moisturizing molecule and is one of the reasons that Biossance’s products result in such glowing, bouncy skin.

Lastly, before I go into details about each of my favorite Biossance products, I highly recommend trying a bundle, especially if you are new to the brand. The one product I absolutely wouldn’t miss is that Lactic Acid Resurfacing Serum previously mentioned, and it’s not only available in our special Candlelit Glow bundle, but there’s also a Let It Glow value set that includes a travel-size serum AND a travel-size Rose Oil for only $25 (or $17 with the 30% off during Cyber Week).

My Favorite Biossance Squalane Moisturizing Products

I’ve mainly been using Biossance products as part of my morning routine, and a few times per week as night treatments. Here are the products I highly recommend, in (roughly) the order of use throughout the day (or week):

Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Facial

I apply Biossance’s Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Facial in the shower, once or twice a week. It polishes off the dull skin, and keeps my skin glowing. (Hmm…as I type this I realize I’m due for another treatment.)

100% Squalane Oil

I keep this in the shower, and use it immediately after. Deeply hydrating without being greasy, this body oil absorbs quickly, leaving behind soft, glowing skin. I also use it between haircuts, if I notice that the ends of my hair need a little love. Part of the Candlelit Glow set.

Squalane Peptide Eye Gel

In the morning, my eyes need a little caffeine, and Biossance’s Squalane Peptide Eye Gel — which also contains plumping peptides and moisturizing Squalane — delivers. It’s cooling and de-puffing, and is never greasy under makeup.

Squalane Probiotic Gel Moisturizer

Like the peptide eye gel, Biossance’s Probiotic Gel Moisturizer is cooling, de-puffing and moisturizing. It is a joy to slather on in the morning (it seriously feels SO good) and behaves nicely under makeup. There’s something about the ‘probiotic’ factor that seems to calm redness, too. (Apparently, it also helps those who suffer from rosacea.)

Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil

Biossance recommends layering their products — something they talk about in detail here. So if I’m having one of those reallllly dry-skin days, I’ve started patting the Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil on top of my regular moisturizer. I’ve even mixed a drop into my foundation, for a really solid your-skin-but-better look. (This product also doubles as a night serum too, sometimes — especially when I need a hit of Vitamin C — après ski or beach, for example.)

Squalane + Rose Vegan Lip Balm

I’ve basically stopped wearing lipstick after discovering this product. I don’t know why it makes my lips look so pretty (it’s just…clear, right???) but it does. Also part of the Candlelit Glow set.

Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum

THIS. This is my holy grail product. It’s the one thing you can do to easily, effortlessly wake up with glowing skin. I use this two to three times per week (alternating with prescription retinol, and a day off of just Vitamin C and hydration). Although, if I’m going through a really dull skin patch (like after a cold, or something similar), I’ll use this every day for five days, to really wow my skin back into shape. As I mentioned…this product does have a funny smell….but, again: I DO NOT EVEN CARE. Obviously, this one HAD to be part of the Candlelit Glow set.

Squalane + Omega Repair Cream

Biossance’s Squalane + Omega Repair Cream is a serious moisturizer, and one I’ve been using over my prescription retinol — it’s that good. This is the kind of product I tend to use more frequently in the winter — as the hundreds of reviewers talking about ‘dry climates’ can attest. Not greasy, just deeply hydrating.

There you have it: my Biossance favorites, my very top picks. Don’t forget that the 30% off ends on 12/4, but the Candlelit Glow Bundle (which is the equivalent of 35% off) will be available until Dec 25th. Any of these products would make a fantastic gift on their own…but be sure to check out Biossance’s Gifts page, because there are some really good value sets, all wrapped up and ready to gift.

  1. Hello! So have you completely switched from Colleen Rothschild? If so, would you mind sharing the reason- Im a longtime fan but recently felt the products weren’t working anymore for me :/

    • Not completely! I still swear by Colleen’s oil-based cleansing balm, her retinol + vitamin C night serum and under-eye serum. I do like Biossance’s gel-based moisturizers (both face and eye) better for my morning routine, and the rose oil is a game-changer. It’s perfect under makeup (or even mixed with a little bit of foundation). At night, I either use prescription retinol or Rothchild’s retinol, but I always layer Biossance’s omega night cream over. It’s insanely rich and and I do like it better than Rothchild’s recovery cream, although both are great. And then, of course, there’s the Biossance lactic acid serum which I use a few times a week (at night) and it’s just plain crazy-amazing.

I’d apologize for allllll of this product use, but, well…I’m over 40, so that’s how it goes. 🙂
