Weekly Sales Report 12.8

Happy Friday! Anyone else feel like we’re breezing through the month? No complaints here — bring on the festivities and holiday sales.

Remember when Linzi scooped up this stunning corduroy jacket? It’s now over $100 off at Saks! It’s the kind statement piece we can get behind splurging on. It looks great with denim, has a polished vibe, is a fresh swap for a daily coatigan…so special. It’s part of Saks’ Spend/Get promo (use code: SHOPGCSF at checkout), as are Scotti’s favorite cami, this drapey cashmere sweater (one of S’ faves) and Julieta’s go-to wide leg jeans in black.

**Spoiler Alert** You guys, I had a super close call with “Sally,” our resident Elf on the Shelf. I had completely forgotten to move her one night and woke up in a panic when the kids jumped out of bed, excited to find her new spot. I distracted them with a “maybe she’s in the kitchen!” while I ran to the bathroom and shoved her into a rolled up t-shirt to move her into the bedroom. I was going to have her playing with this tiny toy oven the kids have, but when I heard Ozzie’s little footsteps just outside the door I had to drop her. She landed face-down on the burner of the stove. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I mean…at least she moved? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Alright, on to sales. Due to the rave reviews, I couldn’t resist these packing cubes or this toiletry bag from Amazon, on crazy sale right now. Also this shirt just arrived from my Black Friday ordering frenzy and I love it (over $60 off right now–I sized down to an xs).

Happy Weekend, everyone!

Free People sweater, Mother jeans, Paige flare jeans, December holiday sales

Sweater (S), Similar Jeans (28), Boots | Jeans (28), Boots (40% off!)

ONE: This Free People Sweater is up to 50% off in a bunch of colors and I love the comfy oversized fit that can go with everything from jeans to leggings to otk boots. (These MOTHER jeans are almost exactly the same pair I’m wearing and are 40% off–oh and the boots I’m wearing are over 50% off! I LOVE these boots.)

TWO: I’m convinced PAIGE makes the best jeans for curves…these high rise flares are 25% off right now and are super soft and flattering. (The boots are 40% off too and also come in black.) Also wearing: Long-sleeve tee (XS – it runs big).

Hey, hey Friday! And happy holiday party season. I love this time of year when the calendar is a little more packed with fun events. Last night my pal Rachael (who owns the fabulous consignment store here, Raylee) asked her friend (uh, Corin Tucker of Sleater Kinney) and I to judge the sparkly outfit contest and it was a total blast. This Aquarius loves meeting new friends and I didn’t even overly fangirl it once. I busted out one of my fav combos for my own outfit that you can see over on my IG stories (@laurajansenstyle). We have another holiday party Saturday night which means another fun party ‘fit and I’m so ready.

Speaking of party ‘fits, if you need to snag some last minute items for yours, I highly recommend giving this striped skirt a try…I featured it in my How To Wear A Sweatshirt To A Party article that just came out and now it’s on sale! Need a supportive bra for these parties? The only underwire bra I actually like is on sale still at Nordstrom. Wore it last night. And finally, if you just want a really rad party boot to pop on with something you already have? THESE.

Sweaty Betty half-zip sweater, Coach loafers, December holiday sales

Sweater (M) | Loafers

ONE: I’m finishing up a little half-zip sweater try-on article and this Sweaty Betty soft woven cotton option is on sale right now! It’s super cozy and has a cool hemline that’s longer in the back. TTS. Wearing a M. Perfect for those of you who can’t handle wool or the like. It feels like a blend between a sweatshirt and sweater. It’s rad. It’s also at Nordstrom and they should price match.

TWO: I can’t believe the great price on these Coach Leah Loafers that were one of my very top picks from my loafer try-on earlier this year. They’re very comfy and gorgeously made. They come in both black and this chalk color and have the perfect amount of height on the sole…not quite platform but a little more than a regular shoe. True to size and comfy right out of the box.

It was snowing yesterday and I loved it! A lot of people bah humbug me when I squeal over seeing snow, but I love it; it still feels so magical to me. Brings back all my childhood memories and just warms me up.

Speaking of feeling good and being warmed up, Adidas is having some pretty big sales. They have a December sale with up to 65% off!!  Ends on the 9th, so take a look now. I was saying over the weekend as my feet were getting soaked while we trudged through the woods on a hike with our dogs, ‘I need hiking boots for this’. I found some at Adidas and these look super serious and cool (and under $100)! There are also a lot of essentials in there and great stocking stuffers. Socks! We need socks! Where do all the socks go lol.

adidas December holiday sales, comfy loungewear

 Wide leg pant (S), Hoodie (S) | Joggers (M), Sweatshirt (M)

ONE: These wide leg sweats and this awesome hoodie are both on sale. I’m still loving the wide leg thing going on. So comfy, but since they have a fitted waist they look nice. The hoodie gets me compliments every time I wear it. It’s a nice fresh white, fitted but slouchy and of course comfortable.

TWO: I just posted about these joggers and sweatshirt not too long ago and now they are on sale! I lived in this set for awhile until Aliya nudged me with a little chuckle and said “ah, still wearing your Adidas Sweat Set I see”. Then I realized maybe I needed to put some other clothes into my rotation lol. What can I say, it’s comfortable, it looks nice, I can Do Everything in it and I still love this color. My only advice: size down, I should have gotten a small.

Happy Friday! ‘Tis the season of packing a million things into a tiny, tiny, tiny amount of time. That’s where I’m at today. All good things, which I am incredibly thankful for, but DANG there’s a lot this time of year, yes? Was considering skipping the sales report today, but WAY too many good deals to ignore!!! First, if you’re looking for super budget-friendly party pieces or something just to spice up your winter wardrobe, several pieces on MAJOR sale from my latest Nordstrom try-on review post. I loved these belted pants (under $50 now) and although it wasn’t MY personal favorite, readers loved this dress (under $50 now!) You can see selfies and get pros/cons here. But also don’t miss the sale gems at MOTHER…check out these wide-legs at a great price for MOTHER denim (somehow still with most sizes still stocked as I’m writing this ).

Nordstrom December holiday sales, Mother denim

Trousers (6), Cami (S), Boots | Top (S), Jeans — lighter wash on sale (29)

ONE: Under $50 Stretchy Trousers – Ridiculously comfortable and stretchy. This is a little preview to my Wit & Wisdom review coming soon-ish. They’re on fire with the comfy trousers. Note: I size down in all their jeans/pants. If I was a daily office gal, I’d be wearing these ALL the time….so comfortable, you guys. Showing here with my basic-wear-under-everything cami (under $10) and my 40% off walkable platform boots — but I do like the trousers better with a lower heel.

TWO: Veronica Beard Striped Top and MOTHER Jeans (more sizes here) – Fans of Veronica Beard know she makes some of the best stripes around. This top is no exception…so cute for casual, work, or to dress up. I’m wearing the MOTHER Ditcher Roller jeans here in a slightly darker color, but the lighter wash ones are sale. Note on sizing: these are my typical 29’s and they’re VERY roomy (I think too roomy) and VERY long as well (tucked under in the photo). Earrings and fancy Staud bag are all part of the spend more/earn more event.

Honestly, sales are hard at this moment because all of the gem individual pieces can be deeply picked over, marked as final sale (cough, anthro and j.crew, cough), or will sell out in your cart by the time you go to purchase. It’s a little maddening, which is why I’m really excited that some of my favorite places to shop are offering sitewide deals – this makes it feel a bit more like an actual sweet treat and less like The Hunger Games: holiday shopping edition.

So here’s where I recommend focusing your attention this weekend: Free People is running their annual $100 gift card with a $150 purchase offer if you have yet to take advantage – keep in mind this includes all of the many brands they carry outside of their own (MOTHER denim, Hoka sneakers, Levi’s, etc!). And Sephora is running a new sale for 20% off your purchase – you don’t even have to be in their top rewards tier as they often require in other sales (and they have GREAT gift sets). Last, which is not sitewide but still a lot easier to shop than other places right now, don’t miss Target’s Sweaters & Boots sale – there are some shockingly good options that I highlighted down below! Xx

Ballet Flats, Trench coat (M) | Tunic Top (M)

ONE: Both Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s put my favorite flat on sale in the color white but sizes are going quickly. I wouldn’t normally include something here that wasn’t in healthy stock but these are THAT incredible, in my opinion, that if your size is available I need you to know about it! Buttery soft, easy to slip on without using your hands, and white is a fun, fresh color that will carry you into sunnier seasons. My coat is on sale, too!

TWO: A tunic top that I’ve owned in a few colors for multiple years, this one has gone the distance in my closet. Lightweight, long and oversized, I’m wearing my true size but anyone shorter than me may want to size down. It’s made from cotton gauze (my fave) and gets softer with each wash! Also comes in the perfect colors to boost your mood once those long winter months hit and would be perfect for spring break packing! Psst – if your size is in stock here, it’s even a few bucks cheaper.

I have come to realize that December, in all of my professional career, has always been a stressful time with meeting deadlines. I also just realized that our youngest has only 2 weeks of school left before winter break and he has asked multiple times to bring cupcakes to share with his classmates. Now, my husband and I are in a mad dash to find someone who can make cupcakes in such a short period of time. I also need to find out from his teacher if any of his classmates have any food allergies.

My husband has started wrapping the boys’ Christmas gifts while they are at school. Our oldest has asked about playing chess and so we got him this chess set. I was part of my high school chess club way back in the day and all I remember is how the pieces move. One of the things we bought for our youngest is a glow-in-the-dark marble run. We do have to find a new hiding spot because last year I hid the presents in our attic, and our oldest went up there to hide one of his gifts and discovered all the presents. (At least he didn’t open any…so I won’t call it a total fail.)

   Sweatshirt (L) | Skirt (10)

ONE: I stopped in J.Crew last weekend and they had this Après-Ski sweatshirt on sale. I am very picky when it comes to sweatshirts and sweatpants, but this one checked all the boxes. It fit just right and it was very soft. It’s currently an extra 60% off.

TWO: I spotted this red skirt as soon as I walked in the door. It reminded me of a pair of pants that J.Crew sold a few years back that were in this same type of fabric, and I donated mine because they didn’t fit anymore. I have thought about those pants ever since I donated them and wished that I had kept them. This skirt will be filling that void.

December 7th usually kicks off the Holiday season in Colombia. It’s called “Dia de las velitas” which is a small scene that appears in the Encanto movie. But it looks a lot like people out in the streets, lighting up candles and lanterns, cooking and eating together. It’s beautiful! On another note, thank you so much for receiving my latest post on my trauma-healing journey with so much love. I cried every time I sat to write, edit, or add the photos. But as I said to my friend, they were good tears. Tears of “I made it to the other side.”

There are six days left to enter the Indigenous healing program that gave me a new life. It’s been the best investment I’ve made in myself and I can’t recommend it enough.

Skirt (XS) | Joggers (S), Hoodie (XS)

ONE: Farm Rio Ruffle Hem Skirt (XS) – I’m ecstatic about this skirt. It is wonderfully made, and I can’t wait to wear it with a pretty silk camisole and boots for a party, but I also love it with lower-heel boots and a cashmere sweater. Also in black, but not on sale.

TWO: Naadam Off-Duty Joggers (S, TTS) and Hoodie (XS – I prefer a more snug fit) – Limited sizing. Get the deal price when you get the complete set. I already owned the Merlot and now have it in “Rust”, and the navy for my husband. It’s the best set to wear at home or just out for some errands with a long top coat.

As much as I love the holiday season, my heart has been heavy lately with all that is happening. In Gaza, 1.8 million people, or 80% of the population have been displaced and over 46,000 are wounded. Meanwhile, here in the U.S. it’s estimated that 44.6 million people are struggling to put food on the table. In the spirit of giving this season, there are ways we can help: Doctors without Borders are on the ground aiding in Gaza and at Feeding America, 98% of all donations go toward feeding hungry families.

Vest (6) | Blazer (6)

ONE: J.Crew’s Slim-fit Tuxedo Vest – If you are looking for a vest, look no further than this one. It is so flattering and has enough stretch that it’s also comfortable. It also comes in cream and navy and it’s 40% off with the code: SALETIME. Also wearing: Jeans (28)

TWO: J.Crew’s Willa Blazer – This Willa blazer is SO GOOD. It’s a gorgeous, subtle herringbone pattern and instantly creates an air of sophistication to any outfit. It’s also got great reviews and it’s 40% off for a limited time with the code: SALETIME.

Holiday vibes are in the air, and I’m ready for it. I’ve been baking Christmas cookies, cooking up hearty winter staples like beanless chili, and decking the halls with boughs of holly. My husband and I have been spending more time trying to create community here in our town, and it’s been rewarding to host people in our home more frequently.

Fortunately, Anthropologie is lending me a hand in getting holiday party ready right now. Two of my favorite holiday pieces are on sale, and I’ve featured them below. I also have my eye on this cool, tiered silver dress and these black sequined cargo pants, which are an extra 40% off right now. Of course, I’m still on the hunt for practical winter items as well, like this uber-cozy hooded puffer coat in a lovely moss color.

Beaded Shirt (L) | Sequin Dress (L)

ONE: I picked up this gorgeous beaded shirt at Anthropologie a few weeks ago, layered it over my Quince washable silk slip dress, and paired it with black heels for an outfit worthy of Zelda Fitzgerald. I’m wearing a size large. For some reason, the top looks cropped in the product photo, but it hits at the waist on me.

TWO: This black-and-gold sequined dress is the party dress for me this season. I mean, it sparkles, so what more do I need?? The length is short, but not scandalous, and paired with knee-high boots, I feel ready to take on the town.

Happy weekend, friends. We have Lana’s first ever Christmas Choir Concert tomorrow. If you’ve met her, you know she’s a natural performer. She’ll improv her little heart out, impromptu, for hordes of folks in line at the grocery store, but she’s actually terrified of performing just about anything when asked, so her decision to join choir this year feels like a big deal. Oddly, they’re required (r’choired?) to wear bright teal and black for the show, which dashes my vision of a bunch of little red-and-white Mariah Careys onstage, but what can you do…

Ok. Sales! Anthro’s got extra 40% off, but it’s final sale, so I’m sticking with home, beauty and…this…sex…dust…stuff? Honestly, too intrigued not to go for it. These Power Shine Leggings are 60% off and refreshingly cool in the navy color (I adore exactly how they’re styled on the model). And I’m not usually a pearly girly, but this cardigan (again, worn like the models) is just pretty enough and under $50.

Turtleneck (XS) | Tote Bag

ONE: This classic tissue turtleneck is on sale for under $15 and available in loads of colors, sizes XXS-3X. Yes, it’s final sale, so I’d size up if you’re concerned. I’ve had it for years in both an XS (what I’m wearing here – it’s a bit sexy but tighter in the arms) and S (perfect for every day, still fitted and slim enough to tuck) and intend to pick it up in a couple more colors while it’s marked down. (And my jeans aren’t on sale, but they are restocked! True to size.)

TWO: Why is this Longchamp Le Pliage Large Tote on sale for just over $100? I couldn’t tell you (these things are almost never discounted, so it’ll go fast!), but I’ve had this exact bag for 10+ years, and even though it’s not the most interesting, it’s an absolute workhorse. Collapsible so it’s perfect for packing for travel, excellent quality, wipes clean easily inside and out (mine still looks new!) and holds so freaking much, with a handy zip-top that keeps it all inside. It’d be a great gift for just about anyone (including, of course, yourself).
