Weekly Sales Report 12.29

Happy last Friday of the year!!! Let’s wrap up 2023 and get right into the the best end-of-year sales. Treat yourself.

S’ luxe matching set is on sale over at Naked Cashmere! Their pieces are some of the most deliciously soft cashmere S has ever found. The wide-leg pants ($150 off) plus matching boxy sweater ($100 off) are her very faves. The sweater on it’s own is already so good (wear it out of the house with jeans), but the matching pants make the pair stop-and-compliment worthy.

While you’re there, take 50% off select full-price with code: NEWYEAR50. (Ok, they say 50% off “sitewide”…but I found it’s worth a double check). Currently loving: this v-neck sweater (the a higher neckline is perfect for layering over a collared button-up) and this drapey hoodie to cozy up in. Under $150 each with the code at checkout. Ooo, also this oversized turtleneck sweater in “saffron”; it’s the wide ribbed cuffs, for me (under $200 with code).

Hey hey Friday! I legit forgot it was Friday this morning and shared that meme about being confused and full of cheese with the team. #relatable This holiday week is fairly confusing. We made it to Bentonville last night though to be with my fam for the New Year celebrations and I couldn’t be happier. The chaos begins tonight with a cousin pj party and gifting…complete with a puppy for Christmas. My brother thinks he got it for his family but honestly, it was a gift for all of us, Elliot. And just what we all needed.

Of course there are loads of lovely pieces on sale right now. This is the time of year I just want cozy things or really good buys. I suggest this lovely in Heathered Oat (I own and adore,) this striped sweater I can’t stop thinking about and this, that’s like a wearable sweatshirt robe. OH YES PLS. Happy Happy New Year everyone and may it bring healing, success and I just really want to say peace too, without sounding trite. I truly hope for more peace. xoxo

Best end-of-year sales: Ugg rain boots, Zella quilted jacket

Boots (TTS) | Jacket (M)

ONE: These Ugg Brellah rain boots have been truly game-changing to have in my rainy climate. They are so cozy and comfy and easy to slip-on with their soft lining. They are great with all my full-length pants and jeans to keep them out of the rain, but they still work with my straight leg jeans like above. They’re on sale for $119 down from $169 and are the best waterproof boots I’ve had in a long time. Coat (on sale, too!) | Similar Jeans

TWO: This quilted Zella jacket is on sale in the most gorgeous shade of sage green. It’s a fab jacket that is light enough to travel with but oh so comfy and warm. It’s perfect for layering over workout wear and has the relief zippers (thanks for coining that term, Abby) at the sides for hip + leg freedom. The cut is perfect. TTS. Wearing a M.

The kids are with their dad doing 2nd Christmas (and having an absolute blast) and I’m vegging out on my couch, experiencing a little post-holiday blues. Going from a house full of people and laughter to a suuuper quiet one is…bittersweet. I like my alone time, but I’m definitely looking forward to New Year’s Eve. We’re going to a block party (outdoors!), and this coat is going to be perfect – super warm but fun. I have the shorter version and have been waiting for the longer one to go on sale…it’s over $130 off, plus another $50 off every $250 spent. (Woot!)

I always wait until the end of the year to snag some of J. Crew’s cashmere (this cardigan is coming home to me), and I couldn’t resist these freshwater pearl earrings from Madewell (down to $13 in cart!). I also snagged these fun Santa and Mrs. Claus mugs for next year–normally $16 each, down to $6. The kids will love them!

Best end-of-year sales: Abercrombie jeans, Sorel Chelsea boots

Jeans (27R) | Sorels, Cardigan (xs), Jeans (28, different wash), Tote

ONE: No one does inexpensive-but-feels-like-designer denim better than Abercrombie, and they’re having a great end of year sale right now. The jeans I’m wearing above (curve love high rise ’90s relaxed, also in a standard fit here) come in a TON of washes and are a perfectly updated shape for 2024…they’re baggy without being sloppy (and come in multiple lengths for the perfect fit). This sweater is similar and this one is on crazy sale.

TWO: The Sorels I’ve been wearing all fall (and will be well into winter) are 25% off–I love the slip-free lug sole and waterproof design! (The cardigan is 50% off and the Rebecca Minkoff tote bag is over $164 off!)

This quite honestly might be the best holiday season I have ever had. I started off my holiday time by spending two weeks in Wisconsin, and it was just so magical. I spent time quilting, threw a surprise birthday party for my grams and got to spend quality time with the people I love most. Leaving Wisco was bittersweet, especially since my grandparents are in their late 80s and 90s, and seeing them slow down makes me want to hold onto the time and memories I have with them a little tighter. I am now in Nashville, where I will be spending the next few weeks and it’s official y’all — I am about to be a Nashville girlie! I’ve been apartment hunting with my realtor and am happy to share that I signed on the dotted line on the Nashville penthouse of my dreams!

Cheers to big changes this upcoming 2024!

Best end-of-year sales: Free People cropped sweater, winter boots

Sweater | Boots

ONE: Holy guacamole you all, my fav sweater of all time is currently on sale for $39 in the sahara colorway. It’s the only sweater I packed for my time in WI & Nashville and I absolutely adore it. It’s also on sale in the navy colorway that I’ve just added to my cart! Ps. if you don’t like stripes, the solid color sweaters are on sale right now too.

TWO: While I have certainly tried on quite a few winter boots, I haven’t found any that I have been in love with this season. Until I saw these gorgeous boots on FP’s website. They are seriously stunning and on sale in all 4 colors! I immediately added it to my cart, and will report back if they are keepers for me.

My little gang has just landed back home after the loveliest holiday visiting my parents in Michigan. It was the first Christmas on record without at least a dusting of snow for my little hometown. The visit was abnormally warm and foggy and rainy – honestly, it was pretty damn magical, in its own one-for-the-record-books way.

Now I’m back home in my own San Diego fog and trying to get everything organized for a new year. Love me or hate me for this (haters gonna hate), but my personality is biiiiigg into resolutions and the fresh feeling of a new year! I’m doubling down on my vitamin regimen, and the best brand ever (so says my husband & me) is currently offering 20% off (use code NEWYEAR) on subscriptions. We SWEAR by mixing this and this before bedtime for the best sleep ever (but also, subscriptions are super easy to skip or cancel, you won’t be bamboozled into anything).

Best end-of-year sales: Levi's jeans, J.Crew lady jacket

Jeans (28×32) | Sweater (L)

ONE: It can feel like Levi’s are never at Nordstrom in longer inseams, but this pair is not only stocked, it’s on sale! The best part, by far, are the hems – they’re super unique and add the coolest touch. PS – these sold out fast on Levi’s website, soo…I wouldn’t hesitate.

TWO: My fave preppy sweater top keeps lingering in the holiday sale sections (in all colors!), with stock yoyo-ing yet always coming back (at least thus far). All I gotta say is, if you’re feeling bored and uninspired by your wardrobe – get this. It wasn’t what I considered “my typical style” but it breathed life into my closet this year in the BestOfWays.

The start of our Christmas was derailed by one of our boys testing positive for strep. Fortunately, no one else got sick!

I’m not one who usually makes New Year’s resolutions but this year, I have some things I would like to work on, and my word for 2024 is ‘discipline’. I’d like to get back to regular cycling and hot yoga which helps with my depression, especially during the winter months. I also joined an online book club that is doing a read-along of War and Peace throughout 2024! The plan is to read a chapter a day with about 5 days that we can take a break, and I plan on reading some other books in-between. Fingers crossed I stick to it. I picked up a copy from our local public library and I can have it for up to 5 months if not more, as long as no one has it on hold. (I’ll let you all know how it goes!)

Best end-of-year sales: Old Navy fair isle sweater, Gap black turtleneck

 Similar Similar (L) | Turtleneck

ONE: I styled one of my fair isle sweaters with an old sequin skirt for New Year’s Eve last year and I will most likely repeat this same look this year. I just ordered this gray one from Old Navy (only $15!!!).

TWO: This time of year is when I buy a lot of my wardrobe basics. I wear my black turtlenecks a lot during the winter months as layering pieces to make some of my summer clothes winter-friendly.

This year, we didn’t head to Colombia for the holidays like we usually do. Instead, we’re in South Florida, helping my sister and her husband settle in. They just got their student visas and left Colombia. We’re crashing on floor mattresses, giving them a hand with some stuff, and waiting for our parents to join us for welcoming in 2024 together.

The only sneakers I brought for this trip were these Vince Courts (30% off right now). I love how they look with relaxed jeans, dresses, shorts, etc, so they were a safe and stylish bet. Now, I am OBSESSED with this chocolate brown bag that reads like black but warmer and so chic. Lastly, it’s the time to get the warmest cashmere sweaters on sale and this one by Naadam is stunning.

Joe's Mia Jeans, on sale

Jeans (27)

Joe’s Mia Wide Leg Jeans (27) – Some of my most comfortable jeans that I’ve worn nonstop for 1.5 years are back in a gorgeous wash black perfect for winter. Wear them with your favorite cashmere sweater, boots and a longline wool coat or cropped puffer and you’re good to go.

If not for an alarm this morning reminding me of this exact sales report, I couldn’t have told you it was Friday. What a trip this week has been. We’ve been kinda housebound and just bored (well, me – the kids are mostly content playing with their Christmas gifts) and I could seriously use a change of scenery. Cue: a road trip to Sacramento for a belated tamale dinner with both our parents. Hoping that will be just what the doctor ordered.

Sales this weird weekend have me contemplating some out-of-the-box picks for me. Like this extremely wearable hat (I am admittedly only a wannabe hat person…but maybe 2024 will be my year!); this extremely flattering bodysuit (still nursing, but infrequently enough that bodysuits sorta make sense again!); and, at 50% off, this is the exact ski setup I’d want to be wearing on the slopes (the jacket is v cute for everyday wear, too)…if only there were any snow to ski on in the Sierras. Hmmm.

Happy New Year, gang!

Abercrombie sweater, on sale

Sweater (S/M)

Finally snagged a photo of this sweater – and now it’s under $30. Sizes are going fast, but there’s a decent selection among all the color options, and honestly, they’re all beautiful. The shape of this thing is so elevated, and it’s lofty and plush and just looks and feels…expensive. Sizing is true – I’m wearing the S/M.

I love the post-holiday glow that links the week of Christmas to the New Year. Quiet, dark, and the perfect time for reflection and rest. Although it’s a busy time of year for my work, I make time to set up my planners for 2024, journal, and spend some time reading non-fiction to help me learn something fun and interesting before I say goodbye to the year. What do you do to prep for the New Year??

On the sale front, I always love Athleta’s end-of-year sale because I can snag a few items for winter activities like hiking and snowshoeing at a reasonable price. I’m eyeing this funnel neck top made out of Polartec material (a warm but not bulky material) as well as this quick dry half-zip layering top in a pretty aubergine shade. I’m also eyeing Madewell’s sale. I have a cashmere cardigan I’ve been wearing the heck out of for a couple of years, so I’m thinking about picking up this cashmere turtleneck in the deep purple-wine shade.

J.Crew sherpa jacket, winter wool coat, on sale

Sherpa Jacket (M) | Coat (10)

ONE: I loved the styling of this cute two-tone sherpa jacket on the J.Crew website, so I decided to order the jacket and try to re-create the styling. I think pairing the casual sherpa material with a sharper, more tailored outfit underneath is fresh. Plus, the jacket is 25% off right now with code NEWYEAR.

TWO: This is the time of year to snatch up a gorgeous wool coat that will take you into next winter and the winter after that. My pick is the J.Crew Villa coat in the bone color. I’m wearing a size 10, but sized down to an 8 because I thought it ran oversized. Check out my full review here.
