Weekly Sales Report 10.6

Cheers, Friday! Let’s get right to the best sales this weekend.

If you saw our recent dissertation on baggy jeans and thought “hmm, pass” — give these Levi 501 ’90s a try instead. Amy describes them as the perfect slouchy boyfriend jeans; they have a loose fit without being oversized which basically translates to the perfect balance of off-duty comfort meets understatedly chic. What’s the difference between these 501 ’90s and our beloved 501 classics, you ask? The ’90s have a mid-rise and looser thigh, vs. the classic’s high-rise and closer fit through the thighs. Currently 30% off at Levi’s, but you can get that price-matched at Nordstrom.

A few more good finds on sale… in a recent team meeting, we decided that slip dresses like these (under $100 at Everlane) are a year-round piece; layer ’em over tees and turtlenecks, or under cardigans when it’s cold. Currently loving these adidas fleece joggers (under $50 for adiclub members) as well as this v-neck sweater (40% off at Madewell) with an old-school collegiate vibe.

Hey hey, Friday! I hope everyone has a nice fall weekend planned ahead. We have a soccer game per usual…my gal is starting to shine on defense and her tenacity is showing and I LOVE it. As someone who danced for years as their sport, I’m constantly impressed by her getting in there on the field, unafraid to make it happen. That was NOT my jam and I adore watching her.

Here’s to the rest of the soccer moms this weekend! Never thought I’d say that about myself but I’m wearing that role with pride. #nominivanformetho LOL

As for what I’m eyeing up on sale right now? Pretty much everything in Anthropologie’s sale on fall go-to’s, this longline vest/coat (gorg!) and this pretty decent dupe for my Frank + Eileen Patrick sweatshirt, for $32 bucks. Score!

Blazer (8) | Coatigan (M)

ONE: Hey-o, my AllSaints blazer I love from the NSale is now 50% off! It’s sooo good and I’ve owned a lot of blazers, friends. TTS and slightly oversized. The length is perfect. Size up if between or if you want it even more oversized. It makes every outfit better. So worth it! Jeans | Bag

TWO: This seriously good jacket from Old Navy, the Longline Cardigan Coat, is on sale for $38 right now! The savings is auto-added in cart. I just got the camel so now I have a tough decision on which shade to keep! It’s unlined so it’s the perfect weight for most of the year and the structure is so good! I love the pockets, too. Grab it! Sweater Pants | Nikes

Hello! I’m down in Ann Arbor this week for my annual MRI/hearing tests/general check-ups since my brain surgery. There’s a small amount of the tumor left, so they want it monitored just to make sure it’s not growing. So far, everything looks good including my hearing, which is always hilarious to report back to my family. “There’s no way, Mom. Something is definitely wrong with your hearing,” Greenlea says. I mean…it must be more of an attention problem because apparently I have excellent hearing. (I’m actually always surprised when they tell me that too. 😂)

I have to shout out Target’s Circle week is ending…30% off Halloween costumes, matching family pjsHalloween decor…we just brought this guy home with us and the kids LOVE him.

Happy weekend, everyone!

sweater set (xs), jeans (28) | blazer (2), pants (4)

ONE: I got to try on J. Crew’s Supersoft Sweater-Tank Set in store and it’s heavenly. That set paired with their Skinny Flares was my favorite outfit out of everything I tried on (and I tried on a LOT). Both are on sale!

TWO: Ok, so I obviously had a lot of fun at J. Crew…but these Essential Pants?? Literally the best-fitting black suit pants I’ve ever put on my body. And so comfy, too! The city crepe fabric is awesome–paired with their Willa Blazer, it’s making me wish I had an office job. (I sized down to a 4 in the pants because they’re higher rise and I typically size down for that style…and a 2 in the blazer.)

For the past couple weeks, I’ve been playing with my beloved beige/tan coatigans (this one and this one both on MAJOR sale) and trying to figure out how to make them a little more interesting and playful. I think the addition of a metallic silver bag is going to do it for me for fall 2023, but I’ve also been wearing a big orangey-red bag that feels like a fun addition as well. This little guy (on sale) would definitely add a pop to all those simple coatigans as well.

I tend to focus on making sure I have great basics in the closet and then just throwing on a fun accessory as an easy “outfit maker”, so I’m linking to some great wardrobe staples I found on sale this week as well as a few pops of fun. Happy weekend, everyone!

Top (s), Similar MOTHER Wide-Legs (29) | Coatigan (XS), Trousers (29p)

ONE: Hard to tell from the photo, but this top from Frame is a special one. Really cool corset-inspired seam detail that makes it great on its own or under blazers/cardigans. And if you’re looking for MOTHER wide-legs on sale, these or these.

TWO: My top pick from the J.Crew coatigans this year is the Ella (currently 30% off with code SHOPTIME or 40% off for members–free signup). To see the other colors with multiple outfits check out my latest try-on here. AND my brand new white/natural wide-leg trousers are already on sale….woohoo!!! Size up if you want more room in the waist.

Happy Friday! We just celebrated one year moving (back) to California and I can’t believe how much has changed in that time. The development my toddler has gone through is actually mind blowing. We moved here with a baby that said two words and still took a pacifier, and now he’s a running, jumping, super funny kid that tricks every stranger into thinking he’s many years older than he is (although…that’s mostly just because of his height, ha).

Now that I’ve experienced a whole year of weather here I feel a lot more confident with my wardrobe, too. This Fall has been wayyy more fun to dress for than last years, seeing as I now know what to expect. Sweaters layered over shorts + skirts has been my personal favorite (the sweaters come off in the toasty midday sun, but can usually be thrown back on after the sun sets). Another go-to fave is a plain white tee + favorite denim styled with some jewelry – you can just never go wrong.

On repeat this week: this skirt | this tee | these jeans (final sale but TTS + perfection)

jeans (29 – 34) | sweater (M)

ONE: I took this photo in the worst light possible (with our giant patio umbrella opened, whoops), but if you look past that – these jeans are really freaking good if you like a low rise. While I’m on the fence if I like the rise on myself, the jeans fit like a glove. I do find Levi’s to run a bit small/short compared to most other denim, so I sized up to a 29/34. Also at Nordstrom, not currently marked down at the time of me writing this, but you could request a price adjustment!

TWO: This sweater blazer is 50% off with code SALETIME in select colors and I’m loooving the new walnut shade, I’m such a sucker for browns right now. This can be worn alone, over a silk cami (also on sale!), or layered over t-shirts and it makes my outfits feel more chic every time. Runs big, the medium is still perfectly oversized on me.

It’s full-on pumpkin season here in ol’ Half Moon Bay, friends! We hit up the local patches (we love Farmer John’s for the decorative pumpkins and photo ops and Bob’s for carving pumpkins and lots of hay bales to climb, etc.), and our porch is now beautifully basic. I LOVE IT. On top of that, we’ve had genuinely hot weather this week, which has given me plenty of chances to wear my all-time favorite uniform: big jeans and a little tank top. We’re heading down the coast this weekend, too, and I’m just so dang pumped. Wish I could bottle up this feeling and enjoy it on a slow drip all year long.

Speaking of big jeans and a little tank: these pull-on flares look so comfy, and in an on-trend dark wash that would be easy to dress up or wear to the office; and this crocheted tank, which is amazingly still in stock and now just $10 after 50% off at checkout. What.

sweater, jeans (TTS, medium wash, on sale!) | boots, jeans (TTS), bag, similar sweater, turtleneck (on sale!)

ONE: This ballet-esque sweater is, not to be dramatic, freaking perfection. And it’s on sale for a limited time. The deepest, almost smoky olive hue, wrap styling, a super soft composition, and a nipped in hem that makes it easy to tuck (while looking tidy and styled even if not tucked). Plus those sweet little straps at the shoulder that add to the dancer vibe. I’m wearing it with a cami in the photo, but it’d be so, so pretty without one. In bright pink, too. Wearing a small.

TWO: This is a random one, gang, but these tapestry boots spoke to me and I absolutely had to have them. They feel very 20-something Emily, when my closet was honestly a lot more eclectic and fun (read: less practical), and they’re so beautiful in person I just about fell down dead. They’re sold out or full price everywhere else, so this feels like a little bit of a find. They run a little large, so if you’re planning to wear a thick sock, I’d stay true to size. If you’re going to rock them with a thinner/no sock or you’re typically between sizes, I’d go down half. Use code LOVETOSHOP to save.

I’m so excited to take my kids to the Indigenous People’s Day celebration in NY this weekend. This event will show them the strength and resistance of our ancestors firsthand. This year, a member of one of the indigenous tribes I come from gave me a book to read about the colonization of our people (not the Conquest narrative) and while it was tough, it also reassured me of the resilience I carry within me. We are still here.

Finally on sale! These Vince sneakers are the best to wear with full length pants, flared or wide leg jeans, etc. I love the sleek design and leg lengthening platform that is slightly higher in the back, which is more comfortable than a flatform, in my experience. They come with that pop of coral as mine, or a yellow one I really want.

Hello and happy weekend. Is anyone else suddenly excited for the games on Sundays?? Thanks to Taylor Swift’s entrance into Travis Kelce’s life, I’m finding renewed interest in all things football; well I guess mostly just the Kansas City Chiefs. Also, I learned how she enters stadiums – in a huge cleaning cart. So that’s fun. I’m back in Michigan this week just in time for the most beautiful season of the year: fall and the changing of leaves.

Jeans (29, run small) | Pants (28, TTS)

ONE: Gap’s High Rise 70’s Flare Jeans with Washwell – I finally got around to trying these flares from Gap that I’ve been eyeing for a while now. They are super comfy and stretchy too, and right now they are on sale for under $50!

TWO: Gap’s High Rise Vegan Leather Cheeky Straight Leg Pants – Holy moly. These are some of my favorite pants for the fall and winter and they are on AMAZING sale right now. They are 60% off for only $35!

The temps have dropped and I am here for it. I have been having so much fun with fall fashion this week from finding new jeans I love at American Eagle to ordering this cool mixed plaid blazer from Madewell, all while watching Season 1 of Gilmore Girls for the first time (I know, I know I’m really behind on this one…). ‘Tis the season to curl up with good books as well and I’ve been enjoy the cozy fantasy House Witch series as well as Fonda Lee’s magical gangster-inspired Green Bone Saga series. What are you reading this fall??

Loafers | Blazer (10)

ONE: The metallic silver trend is in full swing and these traditional loafers from Madewell in such a non-traditional hue are a fun way for me to embrace this trend while still looking like myself.

TWO: The super soft and comfy AllSaints blazer I featured in my How I’m Styling These 5 Blazers for Fall article is on sale right now in multiple colors. I would wear this blazer to a meeting or to date. So versatile.
