Spring Pairing: Maxi Dress + Espadrille Sneakers

I always love a good flowy maxi dress, so pair one with sneakers and I am all about it.

Recently, I’ve been wearing sneaks with everything in my closet…more than anything else, honestly. They have a way of making an outfit easy and comfortable, even if I’m wearing something more graceful up top. For instance, I regularly break out a dress once Spring comes around, even during the week. It helps to give my day more oomph. However, when I’m running around with the kids and what-not, if I wear a dress with daintier shoes (especially one with a heel)…it all feels like way too much. At least, for me. Anyone else run into this?

That’s why I’ve developed a good, healthy relationship with sneakers. I can just throw them on and feel great about my life decisions that day (as far as my outfit goes, anyways). I run around with no fuss and worry that I’m ruining my “nice” shoes…and I feel really good.

I came across a cool and fresh update to my usual cold weather sneaks – an espadrille…in sneaker form. *high fives all around* I have had a love of espadrilles since my Summer in Spain, where I soon found they’re all that’s worn over there (even by the men). I very soon found myself in a pair…and loving it. They make so much sense! They are lightweight, breathable and have a very Summer-friendly vibe about them with the straw bottoms. I brought home three pairs. Those have been long gone now so being able to find similar styles over here now is awesome.

My latest pair is a white lace-up style. Yes, I maybe am too optimistic. LOL. Actually, when it comes to white shoes I kinda just let them get dirty and scuffed without being OCD about it. If they turn into off-white/”distressed” shoe, I still wear them. Examples being, my Golden Goose and Converse. They are both dirty, but I still wear the crap out of them…and maybe even love them even more now.

outfit details

dress: Tiare Hawaii Surry Maxi Dress – very comfortable, pretty pattern and was happy to find that the slit didn’t go up to high on my leg. FYI: this is a thin dress. It’s not see through (couldn’t see my underwear through it), but would be best for warmer weather. I also like their Indica Wrap Dress! Also, I tried on this Free People Dove Long Sleeve Maxi Dress and it’s amazing. It would look fantastic with sneakers.

shoes: Tretorn Eve Lace Up Espadrille Sneaker (TTS, wearing 9.5) – I love espadrilles (takes me back to my Summer in Spain!) …and an espadrille sneaker? YES. White is a little daring, but after having worn white sneakers for a while now (my Converse and GG), I’ve found I don’t mind when they start getting scuffed and dirty. I just keep rollin’ with them.

More Espadrille Sneaker Love

bag: Woven Top Handle Handbag (white) – this one is good. I know, it’s not Prime…and it’s a cheaper one, BUT for a Spring/Summer bag, I dig it. I was concerned that it would basically fall apart after carrying it one, but it’s actually not bad quality at all and it fits a lot more than I thought it would.

shades: AEO Pink Cat Eye Sunglasses – hi, my name is Cams and I buy cheap shades like it’s my job. I wear them every day, lose them and/or break them…and I don’t feel too bad about it. These are great, too, with their oversized style.

earrings: A New Day Thin Disc Earrings – a new favorite of mine. I wear them all of the time…and they’re cheap! I have sensitive skin so I was concerned that they’d bother my ears lobes, but nope. I haven’t had any trouble with them.

Do any of you chicas wear sneakers with something more dressy? A skirt, romper,  tailored shorts? Share! I’ll post it on my IG. 🙂

Cheers,

Cams
