If I am being totally honest, initially I was unimpressed with the plus size selections in the Nordstrom Sale. And for good reason… It’s freaking bare bones. No Good American in the sale, no SKIMS, no new Kut from the Kloth pieces, and very few options all around. It’s a bummer for sure, but not a surprise given the state of plus size fashion right now.

But after many hours of searching, and searching, I actually ended up finding some pieces that I’m really excited about. A few great workhorse staples, a really pretty Barbour jacket, my most worn pants ever, and if you’re looking to make a statement – this Avec Les Filles jacket (technically not a plus brand, but I wear the XL in their tops and jackets).

So yes, from my perspective the sale is rather disappointing. But if you’re plus size and want to know what’s actually worth buying, then read on below. Let’s get into all the Nordstrom Sale hidden gems I found for plus size babes.
1 | Spanx High Waist Flare Leg Stretch Ponte Pants
While I was disappointed to see so many of my favorite plus size brands absent from this year’s sale, I was stoked to see how many pieces from Spanx were available in extended sizing! In years past, Spanx has only had their straight size offerings in the NSale and this expansion is so exciting to see!

Anyways, if you are in the market for the best pants of your life, you need to pick up a pair of the Spanx high waist flare Ponte pants. I personally own these pants in three different styles and they are truly some of my most worn pants in my closet, especially for fall and winter. Oh, and this pair of pants is also available in plus sizes in the sale!
2 | Spanx Long Sleeve Button-Up Shirt
Since we are on the topic of Spanx, how gorgeous is this long sleeve button up? It feels sophisticated, and the colorway is absolutely stunning. Perfect for the office, and I think it would look so good with jeans too.
3 | Barbour Catlin Casual Jacket
The Nordstrom Sale is the best time of year to buy Barbour jackets, and I fell in LOVE with the Catlin jacket. It feels like a major upgrade for what Barbour typically makes in plus and it’s so so good! On a side note, I also tend to fit into Barbour’s straight sizes and this is currently sitting in my wish list.
4 | Eloquii Pleated Satin Puff Sleeve Maxi Dress
This dress is giving me major winter wedding guest vibes. It hits all the marks for me – it’s designed so well, looks like great quality and is chic, yet slightly sexy. TBH I think you could even get away with wearing this to a holiday party too, especially if you’re a winter blue kind of person.
5 | Nordstrom Jersey Shortie Pajamas
Stripes are so popular right now, and while yes these are technically pjs, I think you can get away with styling them for errands and school drop-off.
6 | Wit & Wisdom Ultra Skyrise Relaxed Drawstring Waist Stretch Cotton Pants
Of all the new (to me) pants I’ve found in this year’s sale, these Wit & Wisdom stretch cotton pants are at the top of my list. I adore the color, and it might be my new favorite right now. Oh, and the lined detailing paired with the drawstring… I LOVE. Fingers crossed that they fit as good as they look on the model. 97% cotton, 3% spandex.
7 | Eileen Fisher Merino Wool Turtleneck Sweater
TBH I am not a fan of wool, but that’s because I find all wools and cashmere pieces to be so itchy. #allergies. But if you are in the market for a quality wool sweater, I do think this turtleneck from Eileen Fisher might be the best option. It’s made in Italy and is 100% merino wool, and I love the ribbed trim on the neckline. Also available in straight sizing.
8 | Steve Madden Sherman Mule
Yeah, these brown zebra print mules are the coolest freaking shoes I’ve seen in the sale, and I like a LOT of the shoes this year. I’ve personally been on the hunt for an interesting animal print shoe and these are definitely it! Cool girl vibes all the way!
9 | Hanky Panky Signature Lace Camisole
My favorite lace tops are from Hanky Panky and now that I’ve seen it in pink, I’m convinced I need it! These are such great quality and look really pretty underneath button ups, blazers, and even great on their own.
10 | Caslon A-Line Chambray Midi Skirt
I’m on the fence about this skirt… I love this shade of denim and also really like the panel detailing, but I’m not certain about the length. I tend to gravitate towards a maxi length, so this one will definitely require a try-on.
11 | Madewell Oversize Pullover Sweater
Technically speaking, this Madewell sweater is not plus size. However, I wear an xl in most Madewell tops and an xxl in their non-stretch denim tops. Thus, I am including this pretty blue striped sweater because it’s too good, and it’s oversized! Will look cute on the plus size babes too.
12 | Madewell Rib Drop-Shoulder Crewneck Sweater
This is another great Madewell sweater that’s 100% cotton, which is perfect if you are like me and tend to run hot. It’s warm enough, yet still breathable to keep you cool with varying fall temperatures.
13 | Vionic Raquel Block Heel Sandal
Now that I’m in my mid 30s, I no longer have any interest in wearing heels that aren’t comfortable. Enter: Vionic… Let me tell you Vionic shoes are 100% some of the most comfortable shoes ever and these block heels are just what I’ve been looking for! They come in 4 colors and I think they are so sexy. LOVE LOVE them 🥰
14 | Wit & Wisdom Whitney Skyrise Wide Leg Trousers
These wide leg pants might be the most stunning trousers I’ve ever seen for plus size. The texture and colorway are so interesting, and I love that the pockets are closer to the inseam (makes your butt look so good)! Seriously no notes for these.
15 | Avec Les Filles Floral Jacquard Layered Bomber Jacket
Many moons ago Avec Les Filles actually made plus size pants, jeans and jackets. Unfortunately, those days are long gone, but I can still fit into most of their jackets. This floral jacket is so freaking cool and what I’m planning on putting to the test. Fingers crossed that it fits me, and Avec, if you’re reading this, bring back your plus sizes please!
16 | Naturalizer Cayla Flat
I love a pop of red and these Naturalizer Cayla flats also come in wide! The details, the design, the breathable mesh… so good!
17 | Nordstrom Moonlight Eco Crop Pajamas
Nordstrom’s pajamas are quite underrated, and I like them nearly as much as my SKIMS pjs. I didn’t have pajamas in mind, but they really got me with the leopard print!
18 | Kurt Geiger London Medium Chelsea Slouch Hobo Bag
I had a very similar bag to this one from Kurt Geiger on my wishlist! I’m a sucker for the patchwork detailing and think it’s the perfect sized bag. Great if you wear a lot of neutrals and want a fun pop of pattern and color.
19 | Sanctuary Must-Have Cardigan
Nordstrom describes this cardigan as “light as a whisper” and from the photos it certainly looks lightweight. The olive green is perfect for fall and I really appreciate that the neckline mirrors that of a traditional tee.
20 | Zella Restore Soft Straight Leg Pull-On Pants
Lightweight lounge pants, sign me up! Oh and they have pockets, and the heather blue is so much more interesting than traditional heather grey.
21 | Halogen Pintuck Top
If I worked in an office, this button-down top would be in my closet. I love the pin tuck detailing, the 3/4 lengths sleeves and that it has that effortless drape.
22 | Halogen V-Neck Faux Suede Midi Dress
This v-neck faux suede midi dress is another great dress to add to your work wardrobe, or can easily be styled for an elegant evening out. The rich chocolate color is so pretty and exactly what I’d gravitate toward for fall.
23 | NYDJ Bailey High Waist Crop Relaxed Straight Leg Jeans
The plus size jeans selection was pretty bland, but I did find one pair that I really thought, okay I’d wear these. NYDJ makes really great jeans that work super well for curves and plus sizes, and I’m confident these jeans will be an excellent fit. I love that these are cuffed at the bottom!
24 | Naturalizer Harlie Flat
Last but certainly not least, can we talk about how stunning these Naturalizer pointed toe flats are?! I love the leopard print, and they are available in wide! A win for the girls with wider feet!
