Best for walking around snowy sidewalks (rather than tromping through the backwoods), Sorel’s ONA Ave Alpine Waterproof boots are THE softest, coziest winter boots. The inside is completely lined in fleece throughout, they’re cushy under foot, easy to walk in, and not too heavy. They feel more like a substantial sneaker than a winter boot.
They’re also just… really, really cute winter boots. She wore them on trips to both Calgary and Montreal (think: absolutely freezing, completely snow-covered sidewalks). If you are looking for a REAL winter boot that can still be worn in a city environment… these are hard to beat.

This kitten heel bootie from Veronica Beard is exactly the silhouette Shana wears year after year. Out to dinner with jeans-and-a-nice-top, to the office, on weekends with jeans & a tee… you get it. S prefers a slightly pointed toe and somewhat delicate or sculptural heel (they dress up nicely), and these fit the bill. The leather is a tiny bit stiffer than we wanted them to be and there’s not much padding, btw. Ridiculously gorgeous on.

These Franco Sarto Lakens are pretty comfortable, given the height of the heel! The footbed is nice and squishy, and they’re easy to walk in. Love the wider shaft and western-ish vibes (without being too over the top). They’re available in brown and black, too, but I love the taupe.

We were able to get our hands on a pair of these block heel booties yesterday (thanks, Sam!) and immediately tried them on. The verdict? Extremely comfortable. They’ve got nice cushion, and the just-under-3″ block heel most of us found stable for walking (these were a little too high for S). We all agreed that the color – a dark, shadowy tone of brown – is fantastic.

The Margaux Downtown Boot is a classic: comfortable footbed, walkable heel height, pointy-ish toe that skews more almond (classic) than a true pointed toe. And while I liked this boot…I didn’t love it. The style is feeling a little tired, and the leather was a tiny bit stiffer than I wanted it to be. Margaux shoes and boots are all incredibly well-made so I suspect this style will break in nicely…but given the price point, it wasn’t my favorite.

The Margaux Aspen Boots are SO freaking good! Incredibly comfortable and both the leather and the boot hardware looks really lux in person! This reads like a pretty fancy boot (in a rugged silhouette). The whole thing is very apres ski in Aspen. These boots are great.

These Vionic flats are ridiculously comfortable – it turns out that this brand is podiatrist engineered, which explains the arch support AND the extra set of removable, cushioned insoles. The arch support is wild (but not too much – I loved it, and don’t typically love arch support). These footbed of these shoes kinda reminded me of Birkenstocks.
The only downside (if you will) is that the mary jane strap is attached via velcro. I didn’t mind at all (was blinded by the SKY HIGH comfort) but I know that’s a deal-breaker for some.

These are a fun surprise! They’re comfortable underfoot, and the mesh upper is nice and soft. Like the Steve Madden mesh flats, however, getting the sizing right is a little tricky. Even after sizing down a half size for what feels like a perfect fit…the shoe slides off when walking (but only, like 10% of the time). It’s mostly great, but pretty sexy, on.

These are surprisingly comfortable, given the price! The footbed is soft and comfortable to walk on, and the upper is comfortable. My only issue was the sizing (which is, I think, directly tied to the “textile” upper, rather than using leather). Even by sizing down a whole size (not just a half), these shoes still felt a little big, and the heel would sometimes slip off my foot.

This one blew me away – it’s one of the most comfortable ballet flats I’ve ever tried, and definitely the most comfortable pointed-toe! It turns out that Paul Green shoes (including this pair) are handmade in Austria, and are known for their high-quality leathers as well as their super-supportive footbeds. I appreciated how the leather around the heel was cinched, too, so these weren’t constantly slipping off my foot.

The leather on Franco Sarto’s Reeva Mary Jane flat is really soft, and overall, these shoes are comfortable (and easy to walk in). That said, after a bit of wear, the top of my foot was starting to be a little pinched. I have a really high arch, so I suspect that’s the issue, but just a head’s up for others like me!

We’re sooo excited to see the adidas Taekwondo Mei in the preview, it rarely – if ever – goes on sale. Jess, S and Kat all have Taekwondo Meis in the not-woven version, and love them. S found that the leather in the woven version is not *quite* as soft as her original pair, but it does feel like they’ll soften up with wear. And they have the same squishy bottom that Meis are known for (Kat is wearing her Meis all over Europe right now).

Super comfortable footbed, the strap is also really comfortable, and I found that both the footbed and strap on this pair is much more comfortable than the similar pair from Sam Edelman. I’m typically a size 7 or 7.5 and went with the 7 in these. Just note that I wore the back strap on the tightest buckle setting, so if you have narrower heels, you may need to add an extra hole.

Can you sense a trend with our favorite flats in this years sale? These have the same airiness as the lace-up adidas Taekwondo and woven Margaux Paz above, but the Veronica Beard Mary Jane flats have 2 more qualities to offer. 1/ The adjustable strap with buckle closure for a secure fit, and 2/ Laser cut perforations = a soft, even surface texture that’s just as breathable and looks just like they’re woven.
As for fit & quality – the bottom had very little padding, and the leather was not as soft as we had hoped. Less comfortable than the Steve Maddens (+ definitely the Vionics).
