The hunt for a pair of straight-leg jeans I love isn’t as ‘straight’ forward as you might think it would be (and Laura does a great job of explaining that in her own hunt for them in this post here). There are so many different subcategories of ‘straight-leg’ denim: there’s ‘slim’ straight, ‘relaxed’ straight, ‘mid-rise’ straight, and even ‘barrel-leg’ straight…that it makes honing in on the perfect pair of straight-leg jeans difficult.
So, I dove into the deep end and ordered 12+ pairs across the straight-leg denim spectrum to search for my ideal pair of straight-leg jeans for 2026.
Best Straight-Leg Jeans for Women (2026): 9 Top Picks
Starting off this denim journey, I wasn’t even sure what kind of straight-leg fit I was looking for, so I ordered across the spectrum: I ordered mostly more relaxed straight-leg styles but also threw in a few slim-straight options and some plain ole’ straight-leg jeans I’ve been eyeing. So let’s get into it!

The Best Straight-Leg Jeans of 2026
I tried on 12+ pairs of straight-leg jeans ranging from vintage-inspired washes to different fabric blends and rises to really see how they compare. Some felt perfectly broken-in and easy from the start, while some jeans didn’t even make the post. If you’ve been looking for the best pair of straight-leg jeans (or just wondering which pair are actually flattering) here’s the rundown of what I discovered.

What is a straight-leg denim try-on without a pair of Levi’s 501. I truly expected these to be my favorite because overall Levi’s makes some of my most-worn jeans ever. I like the vintage-wash and the rigid denim that I have come to love about Levi’s jeans. The fabric is thick, and crisp and true to what I’ve come to expect from Levi’s: they only get better the more you wear them. I love the gentle distressing and the impeccable vintage-wash. I don’t love how these have an awkward fold for me near the fly.

If you would have told me a year ago that low-rise jeans would be some of my favorite jeans, I wouldn’t believe you. True to Rag & Bone, these jeans are super soft and lightweight. They have a flattering, easy fit that sits comfortably through the hips before falling They feel like I’m wearing sweatpants. So comfy. So cool.

I typically love AGOLDE jeans, and this pair were no different. But, honestly, they did fit differently than I was expecting based on the pictures online. To me, these read slightly more like wide-leg jeans to me than straight-leg. The fabric is very soft and have a good amount of stretch to them so they are very comfortable and flattering. I also love the light-wash. They strike that sweet spot between classic straight-leg and a more relaxed silhouette, giving them a modern, easy feel.

I ordered these jeans because I wanted to compare the difference between slim-leg straight jeans and relaxed straight-leg jeans and I LOVED the wash. Although these definitely are the tightest jeans I’ve put on in years, I honestly really loved how they looked on. They are flattering, have a decent amount of stretch, and feature a soft, medium weight fabric. I am keeping these jeans because I have no jeans like them and I am liking the slim-lined profile more right now.

I have TME’s own Amy for introducing me to the idea of buying from the men’s jean section at Gap. She just looked so cool in the men’s jeans that I had to try a pair and I am OBSESSED with the fit. Although, they fit me very different from the pictures on Gap’s website. They totally nail that cool, vintage-inspired style that I am always searching for and these fit the bill perfectly. Love these and 100% keeping!

I am so surprised at how much I loved these jeans. I wasn’t expecting to like these as much as I did when I ordered them. As far as affordable options, this pair is my top pick. You can’t find a more flattering pair of mid-rise, light-wash jeans for under $100, than this pair. This pair is just so easy and comfortable and the fabric is soft with a low amount of stretch. They hit that sweet spot on the waist…high enough to still feel supportive, but definitely not high-rise. The straight-leg gives them a classic, unfussy shape that feels so easy and wearable for everyday outfits.
As always, thank you so much for reading and if you have any questions or any content you’d like to see me cover, just leave me a comment! Until next time,

Or if your budget can’t afford $100+ jeans…check out American Eagle, Old Navy or Lands End. All have excellent choices.
Great suggestions! Haven’t tried Lands End denim, I need to check them out!
