Weekly Sales Report 1.19

Happy Friday! The snow is falling, hot tea is brewing and weekend sales have arrived.

Saks is running one of their spend/get promos (use code: NEWGCSF on orders starting at $250+) and yep, S’ matching Stellae Dux sweater and joggers, plus her chic puffer coat, are included. Stellae Dux has been on a radar for a while now, and the verdict is in. The vibe reads ‘almost fancy’ (love the little gold tie details and the swingy cut of the top), and is great for getting out of the house while staying comfy.

Her A.L.C. puffer jacket is a splurge, but S has been getting a ton of wear out of it. It’s just the kind of piece to pull a winter outfit together, and even makes loungewear look intentional. And did I mention that the sleeves zip off, converting it into a vest?! Win-win.

A few more team favs at Saks, while we’re stocking up: this denim baseball cap with street cred (will take an everyday outfit to the next level), Amy’s mood-boosting quilted jacket, and these rag & bone wide-leg jeans (in a dark wash that feels trouser-y).

Scotti’s Top Sale Picks

I’ve been nailing it with the family dinners lately (pats self on back). I say this because my kids are ridiculously picky and more often than not will not try/like/eat the meals I cook. I’ve been slowly figuring out exactly what they’ll eat (aside from pasta with butter and parmesan) and we’ve had some great conversations during dinner time lately (instead of them freaking out about not wanting to eat what I’ve made). We’ve gotten into the habit of sharing our high and low points of the day and it’s nice to get back into that routine. (If you’re wondering, Emily’s Instant Pot Homemade Hamburger Helper, this Vodka Pasta, and these meatballs are consistent winners!)

As far as sales, J.Crew’s CASHMERE is finally on sale! This cardigan and this crewneck are my top two picks–love all the colors and patterns. Athleta also has 30% off “winter essentials and joggers” right now and I’m loving this sweatshirt (thumbholes!) and these quilted joggers (in regular, tall and petite sizes). January is all about cozy comfy things, IMO.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Pants (28 S) | Sorels, Sweater (S), Jeans (28)

ONE: Because of all the snow we’ve been getting, I’ve pretty much been sticking with leggings and boots or my faux leather pants. They’re warmer than jeans, currently 50% off and come in 3 fits and 3 inseams for the perfect sizing. (Reviewers love them too!) Also wearing: Henley (S, also on sale!) | Sneakers

TWO: My waterproof Sorels are 25% off right now–just in time for all the snow. (The cozy sweater I’m wearing with them is over 50% off, too.)

Hey hey Friday! Whew. I hate to talk about weather but gahhh Portland has gotten it this week. I don’t know if you’ve seen any of the Reels or Tik Toks of people and cars sliding all over, huge trees falling, inches of ice on everything, but go check them out. It has been more nutso than the Real Housewives of SLC (which I just started last week finally…OMG y’all…I don’t watch much reality tv, but lordy…where did they find those peeps?? LOL) I am seriously going stir crazy so I’m hoping the dang ice melts ah-TO-DAY. The kids haven’t been in school since last Friday. Halp.

Sales are looking better than the sitch here in Portland though, thank god. My favorite Doc Martens are on sale (woo!) as is this pistachio green puffer I need in my life. And I should just go ahead and buy that pretty Zella jacket already. Still on sale but sizes are going quickly. Here’s to staying warm out there, friends!

Lined Rain Boots (TTS) | Lug Sole Loafers (up ½)

ONE: I’ve worn these Ugg Brellah rain boots with everything this winter and they were great in our recent snow, too. All the colors are on sale at Amazon right now, the black is on the lowest discount. Trust me…if you try them, you will fall in love with these, too…SO cozy inside with the faux shearling lining (that, btw, hasn’t gotten all matted and smushed down) and the perfect amount of lug sole cuteness. I NEVER think rain boots are cute, friends. Super tempted to get them in black or olive green as well because they’ve become such go-tos. Sweats | Scarf

TWO: One of the comfiest pairs of lug sole loafers I’ve ever tried, the rag&bone Shiloah loafer, is on sale at a few different places in a pretty classic brown shade. They’re more monochromatic than the pair I have on above and would be so versatile. The lowest discount is on rag&bone’s website, but you can find more sizes at Revolve if those sell out. They are seriously cushiony and the perfect heel height. I’d size up ½ if you’re between sizes.

We checked out the preschool we’re going to send Jude to yesterday. My heart sank low the whole walk there while hand-in-hand with one very unsure three year old. The school is only a few blocks away from us (and entirely outdoors!), which is incredibly magical, but I wasn’t prepared for how mashed up inside I would feel about this milestone. But why am I surprised? My husband and I cried in secret when we took his paci away. We cried together the day we were done with diapers. So of course, the two of us cried the night before this school walk-through. Jude? He cried when our visit at the school was done – because he didn’t want to leave.

Needless to say, I’m craving some familiar comfort. My favorite wardrobe basics of the last year are mostly from Old Navy, and this amazing oversized boyfriend sweatshirt is 30% off (I’ll take every color, thanks). Some of my favorite PJ’s are on sale in the most incredible raspberry hue that would be epic for Valentines Day. And like, I’ll just take all of this, thanks! ;

Tee (M) | Eyelet Sweatshirt (L)

ONE: This comfy oversized tee is nearly 50% off in red! I love how light and loose it is, and especially fell in love with the arm length. I wore it all summer with shorts for the easiest/comfiest outfit. You can size down a couple depending on how you want it to fit, I’m in the medium and it’s generously oversized.

TWO: My fave black crewneck, because when you’re closer up you notice the epic eyelet pattern on the sleeves! It’s not only a chic spin on a sweatshirt, but it’s actually really great for warmer weather (gives you a little air flow, haha) when you still want to comfy up. 50% off, amazing reviews, & available in more colors!

I don’t know why I thought work would be slightly slower paced at the beginning of the year, as compared to how things were at the end of last year. I could not have been more wrong because it has been full speed ahead. My to-do list just seems to grow and I’ve felt like I’m barely making a dent.

On to sales… let’s talk J.Crew. When Jenna Lyons left, I found myself missing some of the styles that were sold during her tenure. The rollneck sweater and the No. 3 pencil skirts were some of the items I truly missed. I was as happy as a clam in water when they started selling them again! Both are now on sale, each under $100.

Sweatshirt (L) | Blazer (12)

ONE: I tried on this sweatshirt when I was in our local J.Crew store and fell in love; it’s very soft and fits perfectly. Now 20% off plus an extra 50% off. As someone who owns a few sweatshirts, that’s a steal!

TWO: My all-time favorite blazer from J.Crew. I will forever tell people to buy this one if they’re looking for a starter blazer. The neutral color goes with any other color you might have in your closet.

We had our 14th wedding anniversary this past Monday and celebrated by cleaning the mess our broken water heater left, and decluttering the basement/playroom. After bedtime, he came with a glass of wine, we cheered, and got back to our home duties. However, that same night we booked a weekend getaway now that my in-laws returned from Colombia, and we’re leaving in a couple of hours. This is what 14 years together looks like for us.

Jeans (27 petite)

I’ve worn the heck out of these Joe’s wide leg coated jeans. Whether it’s a date night or just a casual occasion, I pair them with a cozy sweater or sweatshirt, and throw on sneakers or lug sole boots. Haven’t snapped a full pic yet, but my son’s birthday party above gives you a glimpse of how they look with my fave sweatshirt and white lug sole boots.

So Jon and I both got the flu over Christmas, Jon got it so bad that we considered going to the hospital until we called and they categorically told us to STAY home because they were so crowded. Anyways, since then, I’ve been struggling to recover and feeling SO overwhelmingly exhausted. It’s been super frustrating to deal with these past few weeks, but I’ve talked to a few friends who have experienced the same thing.

Being sick did, however, give me the chance to read a couple of really good page-turning mystery thrillers: The It Girl by Ruth Ware (rating: 5/5, and the Audible version is free on Amazon), First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston (rating: 4.5/5, this Audible version is also free) and The Family Game by Catherine Steadman (rating: 3.5/5, a little predictable but still a fun read).

Top (M), Flare Jeans (28) | Jeans (32 X 32)

ONE: The Mikki Cashmere/Cotton Blend Henley by Faherty is one of my most consistently worn tops during the fall and winter for the past two years running. It’s so comfortable and such a classic style that it stays in rotation. Now 30% off at Nordstrom. My favorite Gap high-rise patched ’70s flare jeans are also on sale! They’re super flattering and have the perfect amount of stretch.

TWO: I’m still loving these men’s button-fly ’90s jeans from Gap. I’ve pretty much been wearing them non-stop and they are 60% off at right now.

This has been a really fun and serendipitous week where networking happened organically, and I find myself with a calendar fuller than I have had since the start of the pandemic. I’m feeling really grateful and excited. Since I’m going to more and more professional events, I’ve been finding myself dressing more formally, and my shopping list is focused on clothes that are appropriate for business events, like this relaxed-fit khaki blazer.

At the same time, I’ve been having so much fun with my Classpass, checking out new barre, pilates, and yoga studios in my area. Every time I go to class, I’m inspired to step up my workout look, and I think these bright blue leggings and these orange leggings are so fun and chic. I love joyful movement, and the boost of connection I get from meeting people when I go to group classes, and I hope you guys have found joy in movement this month too.

Jacket (M) | Sweater (M)

ONE: This super cute and cozy button-down jacket comes in cream and navy colors and is on major sale at J.Crew right now (use code: SALETIME). This outfit was inspired by the styling on the J.Crew website – I liked that they styled the jacket with more tailored pieces, whereas I normally wear fleece jackets with athleisure outfits.

TWO: I love layering this cute cable knit sweater from Free People over my Rails button-up. This comes in multiple colors and is now marked down to under $60.

Back from our whirlwind trip to LA, and it was such a fun long weekend with the girls – minus the part where we all came back with some form of fever/cold/virus situation. But we’re hanging in there! And honestly, we had a good run of health, so I’m thankful we made it this far. Hopefully this ticks the ol’ sicky box for the foreseeable future. Now I’m looking forward to a somewhat mellow weekend and finally tackling some home organization projects I’ve been eager to start. First up: our game and craft closet! I’ll try to chronicle some before and afters on Stories, if I actually get to it…

Sales this week have me eyeing some fun things for spring: this crocheted stripe sweater at Gap that would work with all manner of jeans or trousers; this silver croc Clare V fanny pack!!!; and less fun but no less exciting: these Calvin Klein thongs (are we all firmly back on the CK bandwagon after that Yes Chef promo? I know I am…). More of my picks, below. Happy weekend, friends! – Em
