Weekly Sales Report 10.13

Happy Friday (and a Friday the 13th, at that!) We’re finally getting into true fall temps — full steam ahead on cozy sweaters, comfy loungewear and weekend sales galore.

Oooo take 20% off sitewide at Jenni Kayne until 10/18! Snap up some of our beloved, splurge-worthy cashmere — the quality is top notch and the knit gets better with each wear. Amy’s cocoon cardigan is deliciously oversized (easy to dress up or down, too) and S raves about their fisherman sweater. Flattering, luxe and roomy enough to layer tops underneath. Their cotton sweaters are just as good too, btw.

Head over to Madewell (take 40% off sale with code: FALLIN) to stock up on more early fall essentials like slim tops for layering, sweater tanks under $20 for hot fall days (or casual offices that decided fall = blast the heat) and lightweight sweaters (under $30 with code). Ooo…especially loving this plaid shacket in “Sand Dune”, too ($65 at checkout).

Hey, hey Friday! Got back late from LA last night so I’ll keep this short and sweet today. But gosh. One highlight of my trip, besides getting to see my Canadian besties, was eating at the Los Angeles location of Pizzeria Biancho (yes, from the “Chef’s Table: Pizza” episode!) Gah, it was soooo good. Also seeing Pedro Pascal walk by us 5x (haha, yep) in Highland Park one afternoon was pretty rad. He’s the best. Oh and Donut Friend, I love you. Get the X-Ray Speculoos if you go. YUM!

Ok, maybe that wasn’t so short and sweet…because, FOOD. I love. But on to sales. I’m excited about this gorgeous leather blazer that’s half off (yup) in a caramel-y brown or black…this bag from Madewell that’s 40% off (wowza, the dark cabernet!) and gah these Nike’s at Nordstrom

Necklace | Blazer (S)

ONE: This chunky chain outfit-maker I’ve been wearing is restocked and on sale! LOVE it and it’s way more comfy to wear than you’d think.

TWO: This comfy J.Crew sweater blazer we love is also on sale for 41% off. Such a great topper for work or anytime really. It’d be perfect for travel. I’d size up if you want more of that on-trend slouchy vibe. In years past, their sweater blazers ran big but this year I’d say they’re more TTS for a regular fit. Wearing a S.

Happy weekend, everyone! This weekend, mom and I took the kids down to Chicago for a little trip to celebrate her upcoming birthday. We’re surprising Greenlea with tickets to Hamilton and I’m SO excited to see it live and in-person. G knows every single lyric to every song, I swear, and it’s going to be so much fun to watch her watching the show.

As far as sales, Nordstrom’s hair products & tools are 15% off right now and there’s a TON of things I want to get. Aside from the Dyson dryer I swear by, Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray, Bumble & Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer, and Living Proof’s No Frizz Styling Cream are three products I have, love, and buy again and again. I’ll definitely be stocking up!

Hair Dryer | Jacket

ONE: The Dyson hair dryer is hands-down my #1 can’t-live-without hair tool. And this set is over $60 off and includes the attachment I swear by to tame all the frizzy flyaways (also on sale separately if you already have the dryer).

TWO: This hooded, water-repellant jacket from Bernardo is exactly what I want to wear right now. Warm, comfy, and with a hood to protect from this brutal rain/wind weather we’re having. 44% off, amazing reviews, and comes in a number of colors. (And also on sale in a longer version!)

Happy weekend everyone! My husband’s family is staying with us this weekend, and we have no working heat, a temporary hot water heater, and our washing machine decided to stop working. I always get a little nervous about hosting (we live in a not-huge 3-bedroom rowhouse), but we’re currently trying to finish our basement (hence…no working mechanicals), so prepping for this weekend felt a little daunting. My in-laws, however, are so beyond amazing! As soon as they arrived, I was quickly reminded that there’s never anything to worry about with them. So…we’ll be a little chilly this weekend, a bit crowded with folks sleeping on floors and couches, slightly stinky since we have to space out the showers, and we may have to run to the laundromat to do a load or two of towels…but it does feel quite nice to be together. Feeling very grateful this Friday morning as I’m writing this, sitting next to my niece as she’s drawing a fabulous picture for my fridge.

In sales this week, my top pick is Oribe at Nordstrom Beauty. TONS of my favorite annoyingly expensive hair products on sale. And J.Crew’s Midseason sale includes some new pieces I thought wouldn’t be included. I just ordered this SUPER cool sweater in both colors b/c it is JUST what I’ve been looking for…an interesting, not-boring sweater to wear to house-parties or school events or family “stuff”, etc.

Oribe Mousse + Oribe Hairspray | Side-Tie Poncho (xs/s)

ONE: The hair products that work REALLY REALLY well for my thin and curly hair. I order back-ups of this grandiose hair plumping mouse because I panic I will run out. And this is my favorite hair spray for when I do curling iron curls (doesn’t weigh my hair down at ALL).

TWO: My most-worn piece from my Anthro Try-On post is on sale! Been wearing it over leggings and a sports bra, with parachute pants, and over jeans and a tee. LOVE it!

I’m taking myself out on a solo mom date tonight because I’ve been desperate for alone time. I used to love escaping to the movie theater by myself (hi, yes, I’m an introvert) and since I haven’t done that in probably a decade (or more?), I’m doing it tonight. I cannot wait for a bucket of popcorn and a large Diet Coke and a chair for one (I’ll give you one guess on what I’m seeing…).

But before we get there: sales. Which are pretty good this weekend. Retailers are gearing up for the Christmas season and I’m actually ready for it (I just watched someone setup their tree on TikTok and it made me all sorts of warm and fuzzy). My favorite finds? This fabulous sweater (failing at convincing myself I don’t need it) | this super-soft oversized cardigan in cocoa brown (amazing alternative for much more expensive cashmere ones I own) | and the very best curling iron (esp. for hair dummies like myself). Xx

dress (M) | sweater (L)

ONE: I know we have yet to reach Halloween, but I woke up today excited for the Christmas season in a real way. This plaid mini dress would be adorable for the holiday season and really cute for family photos (pair with tights + boots for the tree farm?!). My color is low stock but there’s more gorgeous holiday color combos to choose from, and I found it to run TTS.

TWO: 20% off everything is happening over at Jenni Kayne, and while I can confidently say you should skip their famous cardigan (only because Quince makes an amazing dupe for much less), they make my favorite crewneck sweater that I have yet to find anything I love more. Oversized, very long when not tucked up (perf for leggings), and a soft drapey feel that gets better with each wear.

Happy weekend, all. Just got back from leading Lana’s class through painting (their interpretations of) Starry Night, and it was so fun and whimsical and just the perfect way to kick off my Friday. (The Kopiko latte I brought with me didn’t hurt, either – my fave indulgence when I’m not drinking my usual matcha.) Kiddo art projects also remind me just how much I freaking. love. art. and I always leave feeling inspired to delve more into solo art projects in my free time. So far it has panned out zero percent (what is…free time? she ponders), but a girl can dream.

Speaking of dreams: this elevated hoodie with tulle trim (!!!) that’s machine washable – yes – and on sale for $36 (but which color??). And these Nike blazers with the cobalt accent that are, amazingly, still well-stocked. – Em

Tee (S)

I don’t know if I’ve properly given this white tee the attention it deserves. As a cropped tee, it’s about as ideal as it gets. Hits just right with higher rises (it does show a slice of skin), but it’s also a bit thicker and nicely stretchy. Lays great if you want a little extra warmth under a sweatshirt without a lot of bulk (or extra tucking required). Wearing a S. Now $25 with code OCTOBER.

Self-care is all I have to say this weekend, and every single day.

Now sales-wise: one of the sales I’m most excited about is Everlane’s 25% off sitewide. Time to stock up on sweaters! This oversized cashmere sweater (in Navy and Green) is calling my name. Lastly, if you’re a fan of striped sweaters, I love this one

Dress (S) | Shirt, Similar Jeans (on sale, same brand and fit)

ONE: Floret Studios Dress (S) – My tailor couldn’t believe the price of this dress when I went in to get it shortened. The colors are beautiful, the cutouts are flattering and not too much, and I just love how beautiful it makes me feel. Wear with your favorite boots and coat and you’re ready for a fall/winter night out.

TWO: Everlane Silky Cotton Shirt – The times this little shirt has been the perfect layer are countless. It’s one of those basics that you can wear year round and always find them a use. It comes in more colors. The longer version is also on sale.

It’s rainy and gloomy here this week in Grand Rapids and while usually this weather kinda bums me out, I am grateful for a peaceful weekend of relaxing. I’m going to go all out with the coziness and curl up on the couch with my dog, my coffee (and/or wine) and read my really good spooky gothic horror book, Starling House by Alix E. Harrow

As for sales, Gap is having a pretty fantastic 40% off at checkout sale that you shouldn’t pass up and Madewell has some amazing fall sale items that are an extra 40% off at checkout with the code: FALLIN.

Sweater (M, Runs Large) | Jeans (29, TTS)

ONE: Gap’s Vintage Soft Sweatshirt Cardigan – Looking for the softest, comfiest vintage-inspired cardigan sweatshirt ever? Look no further! I didn’t know cardigans could be this cozy until now and it’s on sale right now at Gap. My jeans are my favorite pair of Mother denim and I’m wearing my Adidas Sambas

TWO: Gap’s High-Rise 70’s Flare Jeans with Washwell are on sale AGAIN this weekend. This time they are 40% off at checkout and they are so worth purchasing. They come in petite, regular and tall sizes and they have short, regular and long inseams available.

Not only have the aspen leaves turned golden here in Colorado, they’ve already started to drop, and when I let out my dogs last night, I wasn’t entirely sure if it was drizzling or snowing. So, basically, it’s the best time of the year. Time to break out my heavier jackets and boots and pile on cozy sweaters.

If you’re interested in space, this weekend is one for the books. Not only is there a solar eclipse visible in certain parts of the U.S. on Saturday morning, but Saturday night is a new moon, and the stars will be twinkling, unobstructed by the light of the moon. My husband and I will be taking our telescope down to New Mexico to visit a dark sky park to enjoy the stars and hopefully capture a few photos of the night sky.

Silk Top | Blazer

ONE: Everlane is holding their 25% Friends & Family Event this weekend, and I’m stoked. I love Everlane’s silk blouses and have had the own above that I packed for my recent trip to Paris for a couple of years. I love the drop shoulder detail of the cut.

TWO: J.Crew is having a major sale this weekend. I love their blazers (the Parke blazer is what I’m wearing above), button-up shirts, and snagging some summer items to stash away for my next beach vacay.
