Weekly Sales Report 1.5

Happy Friday! Now that we’ve rung in 2024, let’s kick off a new year of weekend sales and an upcoming season of fun winter outfits. Laura recently layered this plaid coat (over $100 off at Nordstrom) over a monochromatic look and the result was so fresh. It’s an everyday statement-maker and the slightly oversized shape that makes it perfect for layering over thick sweaters (50% off, we love the slouch). Soft like a cardigan, but structured like a true coat.

Speaking of winter coats… Halfday parkas are 30% off! If you’re going to up your puffer-coat game, these are some of the best. The Tabei parka has, as one reviewer says, “the perfect level of puff” and keeps super warm on cold days. Vuori’s end-of-season sale also includes Amy’s sherpa jacket, now 20% off! Super cozy and especially great for layering.

Happy New Year, everyone! I think the best thing I did this new year was allow myself a little grace. I didn’t hit the ground running on Jan 1…or 2…or even this first week back to “normal” at all. I’m taking the time to ease back into things and trying not to feel guilty about the fact that I haven’t started working out again yet (I’ll get to it eventually), I haven’t taken down the tree (again, eventually), and I’m not doing dry January (but props to those of you who are!). I’m trying to treat myself with kid gloves and allow for a little wiggle room with all of those new year resolutions – mental health being at the top of that list. ❤️

As far as sales this weekend, Madewell is killing it right now–so many pieces for an extra 30% off (use code WINTER30), like these amazing wide-leg jeans (love that wash!) that are under $70 in cart, these ankle boots that are on sale in a bunch of colors, and this cropped cashmere cable knit sweater that pairs perfectly with high-rise pants. (I mean, that’s a great outfit right there!)

Enjoy the weekend!

Bootcut Pants (6) | Flare Pants (S)

ONE: Trust me when I say I have NEVER had a pair of pants fit me like these Alice + Olivia high rise bootcuts. They are phenomenal (although obviously too long for me). The waistband is perfection, (the hook closure doesn’t add bulk and the wide band creates a smooth look) and the fabric has just the slightest amount of stretch for comfort. The bordeaux color I’m wearing here is not on sale, but the black is…and it’s a lot more versatile, too. Also wearing: cami (s).

TWO: These Free People flares are also 30% off at Nordstrom right now…I love the fit of these as well. They’re made from a coated-cotton blend (love the sheen) with a hint of stretch, have a pull-on waist (again, no extra bulk) and the slit at the bottom shows off shoes. Also wearing: blazer (2) | cami | necklace set | bag

Hey hey, Friday! Whew, what a first week of the year. Got lots of good family time to start it off and then blammo…back to Portland, renewing car tags, rain, and a house to declutter. Heh. Adulthood, man. When do we get a break from that? Speaking of break, if you’re doing a little dry January like some (I like to cut back, at least) there’s an N/A bottled drink called Phoney Negroni that my mom had in the fridge, and it’s legit good. Add some lemon juice or orange slices and a little sparkling water. So delish! I think you can find it in liquor stores and specialty markets.

Lots of stuff on sale this weekend…like the only underwire bra I wear, this white button down with long cuffs that I’ve been searching everywhere for (I needed to size up and the one I had sold out) and this Le Creuset set to upgrade my old Pyrex baking dishes. Time to welcome that part of my life into adulthood. Heh. And have you seen the charcuterie ‘boards’ that you stack in a casserole dish? Brilliant for traveling.

Beyond Yoga leggings on sale, Athleta trench coat on sale

Leggings (S) | Raincoat (S)

ONE: The best leggings of all time IMO, Beyond Yoga Spacedyed, are up to 50% off in some colors at Zappos! I’m about to do a whole search on leggings that don’t roll down (idk but NONE of them stay up on me) and these are the best of the bunch. They roll the very least, are SO soft and stretchy and are the only ones I wear to barre3. Go down if between sizes, otherwise TTS. Wearing a S.

TWO: I just recently tried this Athleta RainOut Sutro Trench coat and the cut is SO good. I have been through so many raincoats, tried so many and don’t say good things about most of them because they’re typically so boring. But, this one is on sale in a pretty rust color and NOT BORING. It’s so good. I wouldn’t typically recommend a final sale item but it’s fab. Fits true to size, but size up if between. Wearing a S but would prefer a M. LOVE it. Pants (M) | Boots

Happy New Year everyone! I rang in the NY in Nashville style with my parents and my baby brother. My dad made the best prime rib I think I’ve ever tasted, and we played board games, celebrated, and then headed to their “backyard” – which is conveniently Bicentennial Park – and watched the note drop followed by fireworks. I’ve been loving the slowness of December and easing my way into 2024. But boy oh boy am I excited for this next year ahead.

The sales this week are pretty damn good, like these linen pants I am obsessed with are currently $22! And these sneaks are so good for running, or in my case, running errands. Oh, and this is so freaking soft, I can’t-stop-won’t-stop cozying up with it on the couch.

Pants (26) | Tee (3x)

ONE: I wore my linen pants so much this past year that I actually shredded holes into the inner thighs and had to toss them during my travels through Asia. Even still, they are absolutely amazing and the only pair of linen pants I actually like. They are currently $22 so you bet your bottom dollar I am getting another pair, that’s how much I love them.

TWO: By now, I’m sure you all know I am obsessed with the brand Miaou. I love their tops, dresses, skirts, and corsets, and they are one of the few brands on the market that makes seriously cool af pieces for plus size babes. I’ve worn this mesh tee more times than I care to admit and, in fact, just wore it yesterday under a leather jacket. It’s so so good and currently on sale for $59.

I’m calling a do-over on the first week of the year. I had so much motivation to crash into this year with and, naturally, came down with a cold on New Year’s Day. I’m doing pretty good this morning, however, I have been sleeping with my head propped up so as to help me breathe at night, and THAT has resulted in a tweaked neck muscle that’s producing a non-stop headache. Now I’m just trying to gaslight myself into believing that I’m not such a hot mess over here.

But for happier news, I’m delighted in a few sales finds – and I wasn’t expecting to find anything good now that post-holiday sales have dwindled. Vuori easily has the best section with their end-of-season sale happening right now (more colors of the best water-resistant pouch were just added; these are a serious game changer for travel & beach life). And Nordstrom has my can’t-live-without body serum (a life-saver in the winter) and the most fantastic color of Birkenstock shearling slides on sale, whoop!

Weekend sales: Vuori jacket, Gap straight-leg jeans

Jacket (L) | Jeans (28)

ONE: This is easily one of the coziest jackets, and I love how unique it is with all of the utility pockets (wildly useful, too). It runs big compared to their other jackets, but I kept my normal size so I could easily throw it on with leggings. My black color is 10/10 but you HAVE to go check out the “dark salt” shade…I’m actually tempted to get it myself, eeek

TWO: One of my most worn jeans of 2023 is currently on sale. They’re a classic ’90s straight leg that pair perfectly with all my extra oversized tops, but also are just a breath of fresh air to pull from among all the other baggy, loose styles I’ve collected. Fit is tight and fantastically cheeky, but they loosen and mold to the body with wear.

Well hi! Still fully in disbelief that it’s 2024 over here. Unpopular opinion: I find those ins and outs lists kinda cringey – not really sure how they’re any more optimistic than a resolution when half of the concept is inherently putting stuff down, but that’s just me. That said, I’m loving the overall vibe that seems to be surrounding everyone going into the New Year. Feels like we’re all just trying to take it easy on ourselves, and that’s something I can absolutely get behind.

Sales! Just when I think I’m shopped out, lo and behold, I find plenty of good shit to tempt. Vuori’s end of season sale section is loaded (these super sleek leggings and matching top are in my cart). And Naadam’s got up to 60% off with an extra 10% off orders of $350+. This cashmere henley is equal parts comfy and chic. More picks rounded up below, too.

over-the-sink colander, adidas sneakers on sale

Colander | Sneakers

ONE: Super random, but if you’ve got the itch to tidy up this year, this over-the-sink colander is a game changer in our kitchen, and it’s been restocked in a bunch of colors with fast shipping (it’s even a couple bucks off – under $13 right now). It keeps freshly washed fruits or drained pasta out of the sink so you don’t accidentally douse it with dishwater (hi, been there). The girls like to snack on berries straight out of it, too, so it saves me from having to plate yet more snacks during the day. We just stash it under the sink when not in use.

TWO: Pardon the dated photo, but these adidas Cloudfoam Pure sneaks are literally the softest, lightest, comfiest sneakers I own. They carried me through daily HIIT workouts throughout the pandemic but are also light and comfy enough to wear almost like slippers if you need more support than going barefoot around the house. And they’re…$38. What!? True to adidas sizing, which for me meant sizing down half from my usual.

Since it’s a new year, I’m also spending time cleaning out my closet. I’m making piles for donations, alterations, sales, and keepers. Going through my clothing to make sure I truly love what I have on-hand and that each item is ready to wear (no further cleaning, steaming necessary, no missing buttons) is such a joy because it makes me feel like getting dressed is a treat. Now I can see items that would actually round out my closet

Here are a few pieces I’m eyeing. First, these wide-leg Vuori pants. I’m not usually big into investing in my loungewear, but I know I love Vuori’s ultra-soft material. Second, this classic Coach bag. I think white leather just looks so sharp. Finally, I’ve waited on investing in metallic pieces, even though it’s been a huge trend. These silver Birkenstocks might be the right piece for me – I know I’ll wear Birks, and the silver color makes them special.

Best weekend sales: AllSaints moto jacket, Madewell long coat

Moto Jacket (12) | Coat (10)

ONE: I love this AllSaints Balfern moto jacket. The leather is buttery soft, and I know I’ll have it for years. I love the off-white color as well. I’m wearing a size 12 above. Fits TTS for me.

TWO: This is the time of year to find great deals on coats. I looked all season for a gorgeous, slouchy brown jacket, and I finally found my perfect cocoa brown coat at Madewell. This coat runs a little oversized.
