Black Pants, 2 Ways (Featuring Maeve Colette Pants From Anthropologie)

Can pants be famous? I guess in our world here they can, eh? Well, IF a pant can be famous, these Maeve Colette Pants from Anthropologie are. All I’m asking myself is why did it take me so long to realize their superiority?

I went and did a little try-on a while ago in my local Anthro store and immediately fell in love…with pants. As you may have realized here lately, pants, jeans and I have had a…bit of a struggling relationship as of late.

I first discovered these pants during an in-store try-on I did a couple of months ago, when I was in desperate need of inspiration. These pants turned out to be the big, long-term winners from that try-on. They’re the perfect spring & summer weight pant, for work or weekends.

The Fabric + Fit: What makes these pants so popular and IMO the best versatile pant right now? It’s the fit and the fabric. I don’t know what magic elves made this fabric (and honestly, it’s every iteration I’ve tried in this pant, whether denim, cotton, patterned, solid, etc) but they get the stretch-versus-structure just right every time. Putting on these pants feels like giving your midsection a hug. What else can I say?? My midsection needs a hug right now.

This particular pair feel like a lovely cotton poplin blend that is not too thin, not too thick for warmer temps and lay nicely on the bod. They’re actually Anthropologie’s own blend of viscose, linen, cotton + elastane.

The patch front pockets feel on-trend and don’t add bulk at the hips. The cropped length is great for warmer weather but since they’re offered in Regular, Petite, Tall and Plus sizes, they aren’t too cropped either. I found the fit to be true to size (but would size down if between).

Outfit 1: Black Pants + Cute Sweatshirt + Nikes

The Top: This is how I’m wearing my Maeve Colette pants for everyday right now. I adore Clare V sweatshirts and as it warms up I’ll just swap this beloved one out with one of their cool graphic tees. Both are phenomenally made, classicly cool and hold up so beautifully. And I love the vibe of Clare V as well as the causes they support.

The Sneakers: My Nike Blazers have been true staples in my wardrobe and I adore the white sneaker with black pants combo for brightening up dark pants for Spring. These high tops are perfect for fitting just under my cropped pants for these transitional times when I’m not quite ready for a bare ankle.

I want all the pairs. They’re classic without being to chunky or too flat and they just look cool with everything.

Outfit 2: Black Pants + Office-y Button-Up + Adidas Court Sneakers

The Top: Over the past year or two I’ve realized just how much more comfortable I am in a boxy top that hits at/around my waistline. I feel great in this combo and it’s great with these fab pants, too.

The Everlane Boxy Oxford is another staple in my closet and I’m going to add another color for Spring, too. I just can’t decide which. White? Black to wear with my non black pants? Stripe? Idk. All? No tucking necessary!

The Sneakers: Adidas VL Court 3.0 sneakers are my favorite alternatives to the Sambas everyone loves. The Sambas are cool and I have some, too, but I find myself grabbing these more often. They give off the same vibe, but have more room in the toe and a bit thicker sole. Love them.
