At 7 weeks post-partum, it's time to face facts. Even though I follow ANMJ's tips for camouflaging my post-baby pooch as much as I can, the truth of the matter is that I'm going to have to integrate some exercise into the daily blur of living with a newborn if I want to banish the bulge for good. Now that I have my doctor's blessing, I'm slowly beginning to reacquaint myself with the gym. Motivation is often hard to find between breastfeeding, diaper changing, napping, eating and pretending to keep my house clean, so I've been working on a play list to get the proper juices flowing when I'm on the treadmill.
My only chance of accomplishing my half-hearted "think about maybe getting in shape" resolution lies in a workout that I can do at home. And it must fit into either the small slice of time between R going down for his short little nap and P waking up to nurse...or the 30 minutes immediately after my husband gets home from work (any later and I'm too tired).
...this product is seriously amazing. Immediately after using, my face seems to come to life just a little. My color is better, my skin is softer, I have a slight glow, despite the extreme testing that only a new mom can do.
Being a huge New Year's geek (seriously - it's my very favorite holiday), I always like to take some time at the start of a new year to reflect. Now that I'm a parent, it's both harder to find that time, but more important that I do. Ironic, no? My single biggest goal for 2011 is to be a more mindful parent. To be present, in the moment. To not be distracted by worry, or all the stuff that creeps into our lives. I can't believe how fast these three years have flown past...and already I can see the little boy my baby is becoming. I want to enjoy every moment I can, with both of my boys.
This question is probably geared toward Scotti, since she is the make up guru. I would like to wear red lipstick for Christmas. My guy saw it on an actress in a movie we were watching and said "You would look good in red lipstick" Hint taken! Spice it up already. What colors are best? And I'd like to do nail polish, too? Obviously they can't match, (Can they?!?!?!) but should I go bright red on the nails, too? I'm not going to be spending beau-coup bucks on either item since it will probably get busted out for Christmas and NYE and then pushed to the back of the drawer.
OMG.  Have you seen this?  I'm sure you have.  I'm always the last to know about FaceBook phenomenon, but Hubs gave me a heads up to this as I sat here tapping away about the fabulous and beautifully illustrated children's book, Augustus and His Smile.  Needless to say, while tender, sweet, and the perfect book to talk to...
Gang, I'm back!! Sort of. Sleep deprived, yes. Living in a fog...um, yeah...that too. But the happy mum of two adorable boys. And if that weren't enough (although it is, really)...it's the holiday season! After nine long months or pregnancy, and after too many sleepless nights, I'm in the mood to be pampered. I'll bet many of you are too. So forward this on to your gentlemen or partners to help point them in the right direction, gift-wise.
Things have gotten a little bit crazy over here at Ain't No Mom Jeans!  On November 10th, contributing author Lane (and her adorable hubby Dave) welcomed their daughter, Vesper Elizabeth Clark.  She was 6lbs, 10 oz...and only three weeks later has already gained 2 lbs.  Nice!  Lane is doing well, and I can't wait to hear her thoughts...
Ok - so the pics are from last year.  However, this is an annual tradition.  R just isn't old enough to realize / remember it yet. We always start with my mom's sourdough cut-out cookie recipe.  She underbakes them a smidge, doesn't roll them quite as thin, and hasn't had to contend with a toddler measuring the flour...consequently, her's...
So yes - Martha Stewart I am not. But capable of making messes? Oh yeah - big time. Does my husband cringe when he calls home and I say, "We've started an art project!!" Absolutely. Do we ever create something usable? Something that requires actual precision, skill or even nice handwriting? Nope. Never. So I was very excited about this one.
